We meet here to explore, share, celebrate and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.
This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!
Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion.
Monday - crewahl (Charlie)
Tuesday - whathapnd (Emmie)
Wednesday - newmantjn (Todd)
Thursday - misterhub (Greg)
Friday - imastar2. (Derrick
Today's Topic: How are you doing right now on a scale of 1-10?
On a scale of 1-10, rate how you're doing right now against your stated plan. Are you more likely to increase or decrease your self rating within the next 30 days? Discuss.

I'm currently a 7 which means everything is going ok, but that I'm closer to being "average" than I am to being "stellar.
I would have rated myself an 8 a couple weeks ago. There's nothing bad happening. I just feel like I'm at that point where I could get sloppy with my intake and tracking. There's ZERO mental fatigue from dieting involved right now, and mental fatigue is common for me at about this point in a new year when I've been doing well. So, I'll consider that a "win." My rating of 7 is more an awareness that I need to not take for granted that I'll continue to do well simply because I've been doing well.
So, with that in mind, I think I'll tighten my plan just a bit for a couple of weeks and spend a bit of time visualizing myself a few pounds lighter come spring. I expect to rate myself an 8 again over the next few weeks. Really, it's only a smidge more effort that's needed.
That smidge can make or break me, though.0 -
Interesting question. I’m going to say 4 only on the basis is scale creep. But the 2-3 lb gain seems like a small price for almost an entire year on lockdown. All other measures seem like a wash. Walking is way up, stretching and resistance training are down. Still using my food scale but eating a few too many sugar treats.0

I’m going to give it something between a seven and an eight. I’m exceeding my admittedly conservative weight loss goal of two pounds a month. I’ve been pushing myself a bit more in terms of exercise. My adherence to tracking and staying within my points has been pretty good.
I’m at the point where I know I could do better or do more, but it would cause some increased stress or tension. For me, striking a balance between stressing over compliance and not doing enough is the sweet spot to hit.
Hopefully in a month I’ll be exactly where I am - plugging along, cutting the occasional corner, but overall in decent compliance with the plan and hitting my objectives without losing my sanity. Because, as Murple once said, “I’d rather be fat than crazy.”0 -
I'm around a 5, up from last week, and definitely going to increase it next week! It's been tough getting back on track post vaca, due in part to being exhausted.
I need to bite the bullet and tough a few days out to stop the cyclic:
tired ➡️eating sugar & junk ➡️ feeling crappy & tired ➡️ not exercising ➡️ tired ➡️ ...
You get the idea 😔0
