The other day I commented that I was surprised to find that my walking shoes are way past expiration. I discovered this when I stepped on a twig that became stuck in the bottom. I’m not really sure how to describe where it was stuck as large sections of the soles are long gone.

Here’s the old shoes and the same model replacement, Hoka Gaviota 2. I went back to the place I bought them and they didn’t have them in stock as Hoka is bringing out the Gaviota 3. Went on Zappos got one of the few remaining Gaviota 2 and saved $40+.

Apparently you have master the concept of “use it up, wear it out, make it do”. Mine didn’t get so bad, but they became slick when walking on smooth damp surfaces.
