Hi all. I am new to the group and also newly diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes a little over a month ago. I'm looking forward to learning from you all and to gaining support and encouragement.

Welcome.
It will all seem very over whellming at first. You don't mention where you live. If its the UK your Doctor will arrange various other tests to check feet, kidney function and eyes etc you may be lucky and have an active support group local to you as well. My local health authority also run a weekly "drop in" facility.
This board and MFP in general are extremely helpfull.
I have recommended Gretchen Becker's book "Tyoe 2 Diabetes: a guide to the first year" several times on here before. I found it invaluable plus there are various resources available such as www.diabetes.co.uk. http://www.phlaunt.com/diabetes/ is also good.0 -
Hi and welcome to this group. You have made a great decision in joining this group. The good news is that the MFP programme, if correctly applied, really does work. The programme requires patience, persistence and determination which can only come from you. As a first step, take your time to read over the many threads in this group which contain a wealth of information and provide reliable reference sources. When you're ready to ask questions you will find lots of genuine people in the group who will be willing to share their experience and provide you with as much support and encouragement as you require. Like all of us the effort must come from you. I wish you well on your journey to a healthy and active life and will do anything I can to help and support you.0

Hi there dmrels, welcome!
BigG and robert have already offered some great tips and advise.
This program has been invaluable to me. In maintenance mode now, I've exceeded my weight loss goals by working this program, in addition to reducing my D meds significantly as a result of my weight loss since my join date. This program really does work when applied consistently.
Wishing you great success and future good health!0 -
Hi and welcome! You've come to the right place. MFP has helped so many of us keep our T2 under control.... you can do it too!
I recommend checking out bloodsugar101.com.... lots of great advice there. Good luck with your program and post your progress.0
