We meet here to explore, share, celebrate and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.

This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!

Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion.

So, I've been struggling with snacking, both afternoon and evening, and the scale reflects it. This week I've been trying to really watch my trackers BEFORE I choose my snacks. I have plenty of choices in the house. Apples, oranges, bananas, and grapes for fruits. Low calorie beef/elk snack sticks (88 cal. ea.), Fiber One snack bars (70),
anisette toasts (87/2), FF cottage cheese, FF Greek yogurt, etc.
So, it truly is a case of only eating 1 or 2, instead of all of the above.
This week started poorly, but the last 3 days I made sure how many calories and SP I had left, and planned around it.

If snacking is your Achilles heel, how do YOU handle it?

Snacking for me is like a ball rolling down a hill. It doesn't start on it's own, but once I nudge it, it's hard to catch up and stop it 🙄

I've probably mentioned this before, but my control is individual bags of treats. It really helps. Yesterday, my box of 40 bags of Fritos arrived from Amazon. Last night, I had a bit of a chip-a-thon with Doritos, but even then, I felt like enough of a fat-*kitten* eating two bags, that I stopped there. My binge stopped at 300 calories.

I try not to have snacks in the house that can hurt my efforts. My vice is Healthy Choice Fudge Bars at 100 calories. They’re a vice because they’re high in fiber - “I say no more”.

    Wink, wink; nudge, nudge.
