I watch the train wreck show 90 Day Fiance (it's a guilty pleasure) and two of the older women were wearing pigtails last week. The internet went nuts saying women over 40 can't do that. I sometimes rock pigtails on the weekend and never thought I shouldn't. Do y'all buy into "age appropriate hair" or do you believe we can do whatever the "@%$#" we want?

To me your hair is an expression of yourself and yep, do what you want!! Though I'm a fine one to talk because I've worn a basic bob for the last 20 years. But at least my hairdresser makes subtle changes to it to keep it sort of current LOL

I wish I had pigtails!! I have had a pixie cut for 3 decades.

Wear your hair how you like it.

That kind of goes alone with, "Older women shouldn't have long hair." Well, the rebel in me decided that in my 50's, I was letting my hair grow longer again. I cut my hair in my 30's and did the boy-cut, with hair angled over my ears and longer on top for "volume". In my 40's, I let it grow out some, but kept it layered and around chin length. I also started coloring it, nothing drastic, just staying as close to natural as possible. Now, in my 50's, I started with the idea that I wanted all of the layers out, so I grew it out to one length...no bangs... and just below the shoulders. My hair is naturally curly (not tight curls), so with this length it was more wavy. At my l last appointment, I had my hairdresser keep the length, add some longer layers... and bangs. I have been contemplating letting my gray grow in, but am too undecided, so I guess I'll keep coloring for now. I wear a ponytail a lot now that I can with my hair longer! Nothing is easier than pulling my hair back out of my face when I just don't want to mess with it much. I have even done the pigtails. It was more for a fun day with my 3 year old granddaughter, but what the hey! If you enjoy pigtails, wear them! If you get a look, maybe it's one of envy. Not everyone can rock pigtails!

Wear your hair any darn way you want. People are always telling women what they should do. I just cut off about eight inches of my hair and even got bangs, which my hairdresser did not think I should do. But, I'm rocking the curly bangs--it gave me a reason to buy some cute hair-clippy-things.

I just had to see several specialists for thinning hair. I've had several surgeries in a row and am suffering from alopecia and female pattern baldness! I used to have gigantic hair, but no more! :( I just had a hair cut to kind of mask it and am taking all these pills to try to bring it back, or at least stave the recession. Sigh. I'll be thin and bald. but I'll be healthy, dammit! :D
