When do you give up on a book?

Do uou give it 100 pages, one chapter, or do you always finish a book once started?

I used to always finish it but recently if I'm dreading reading it, am bored for a couple chapters, don't like the characters, or just can't keep my attention I call it quits. No certain amount of pages though! There's too many books to waste time on a lousy book!0

I give up on a book whenever I feel the need to for various reasons. There are so many good books out there, I don't torture myself by finishing something that isn't resonating with me.
If I feel the writing or characterizations are really bad, I may give up on a book. However, if I feel the author is "preaching" at me, I'm very likely to give up on a book. This happens even if I agree with the author's opinion. If I'm reading a work of fiction, I don't want the author's real life opinion to come through. (I was going to expound on this, but I think I'll leave it here.)
