After a pretty dry winter here in Florida, it has been raining cats and dogs the past few days. I've slipped in a few walks, umbrella in hand. 57/75

I haven’t been able to get a lot of miles in for months, it is all I can do to hit my goal of 4,000 steps. Now my balance and depth perception is pretty off.

I purchased a basic treadmill at the end of February to try and help me get more active. Monday I had it set at 2 which puts me in calorie burn. I lost my balance and fell. Just like the commercials. It wasn’t my most graceful moment. I’m okay but very disheartened. It’s a real let down from being able to bounce around doing whatever I please 4 years ago to this.

You all give me a sense of support and for that I really do thank you.

Yikes. I can only imagine how disheartened you are. But I am glad you are ok. I hope things improve soon.

@LIBI_KK - So sorry to hear that!! I'm glad you're okay and didn't injure or break anything! I can't even imagine. You are right...we ARE all here to support you. Maybe a stationary bike (recumbent) would work for you. You would be sitting down and have handlebars to hold onto while working your legs. Just a thought. :flowerforyou:

@LIBI-KK: I am so sorry to hear about your fall. So glad you are not hurt. I have experienced a similar issue and I am just taking things one day at a time and being grateful for each. Hang in there and stay positive.

@Libi_KK I have to agree with @darkrider42 about the recumbent bike. That and some light dumbbells could give you a good workout still.

@Libi_KK :disappointed: I'm sorry. Glad you're okay. I like the bike idea too

1.7 treadmill miles. My dietitian wants me to focus more on weights and less on cardio, so I've been doing that all week.

I’ve been missing in action .... again.
@Dave @Janet ... can I renegotiate my target? Two weeks ago, whilst hill walking, I stumbled. Net result ... an Avulsion (flake) fracture. This is a stable fracture, that hurts! Recovery is slow, but I’ll get there. I’m only just beginning to move again as the ‘boot’ is off. I certainly won’t be running for the next month :'(
    Can I reduce to 70.

@k80flec - Ouch!!! Those really hurt. Hope you recover quickly. Don't push it too quickly. The tendon/ligament the avulsion is attached to can calcify if the body has to try too hard to fix the injury. Calcification of tendons, bone spurs, are really painful and there aren't any really good fixes (surgery or steroids)

Susan - sending love and hugs for a speedy recovery. Don’t forget to take care of you too, so that you can take care of your OH.
@Dean - thank you for the advice. I shall do my very best to follow it. Two and a half weeks later other aches are emerging as the primary pain reduces - how dare it!!
I’m currently doing plenty of ‘heel to toe’ walking, plantar and dorsiflexion and have just started eversion and inversion exercises. The pain is reducing, but it still hurts, a lot at night! The thought of calcified tendons doesn’t appeal at all so that has to be a warning for me :/
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.
    @Dave, @Janet I’ll post my data soon.

k80flec: So sorry to here about your fracture. Now doesn’t that just stink! It sounds like Dean has some good advice. Please take it slow now so you can get back to doing what you love later.
@sussexbythesea:: Please take care of yourself as well while caring for your hubby. I hope that he has a good recovery.

@k80flec - ouch. I hope things continue to improve. Listen to Dean and take it easy. I've adjusted your goal to 70.

@sussexbythesea - sorry to hear about your OH. Best wishes for the both of you. But on a happier note, you've made your goal and then some! Congrats.
