We meet here to explore, share, celebrate and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.

This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!

Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion.

Monday - crewahl (Charlie)
Tuesday - whathapnd (Emmie)
Wednesday - newmantjn (Todd)
Thursday - misterhub (Greg)
Friday - Al_Howard

Today's Topic: Mindset Check-in

Relative to your health, diet, and exercise - what is your current mindset? Where do you find yourself mentally and emotionally? What part has the last year played in where you are at today?

Positive. I’m doing more good things for my body than I was doing a year ago. I’m not making consistently poor despcisions about food urges (only inconsistently poor decisions, which is an upgrade.

I think the last year helped, frankly. We did takeout, but not as often as we used to eat out. More meals at home means less temptations. Overall, that’s been a positive for weight. Also, as I lost weight I could see my blood pressure declining to about 130/75.

And realistically, I think getting vaccinated was a significant mental boost. I feel safer, and we’re starting to do some “normal things again Life is better than it was twelve months ago.

I totally gained the Covid 19. Maybe the Covid 25 or so.

Struggling to get back in the groove. Checking in here is helpful in that regard.

I am at about the same weight (highest end of my healthy weight range as when Covid hit. I lost 4 -5 lb right away but that has crept back on. Ouch 19 to 29 lb is a struggle for sure. I have been close to the same activity level and I think that helps.
