I refused to weigh-in a day late this week, so I'm posting after my dentist appointment and before heading out on errands. My weight continues to swing and today's is about the mid-point.

Hubby's regular ophthalmologist finally called him last night and it seems the first he knew of the injury and hubby's inability to get an emergency appointment was when he got that registered letter. Don't know yet how that will play out. Hubby's eye seems to be healing okay, but the IBS and neck pain are still giving him fits. Sometimes his health issues begin to get me down. So I decided to check in with Toni to see if she's fully vaccinated yet and if so, if she's interested in walking. She is dealing with a lot of work and family issues now and is also volunteering to deliver meals to elderly and sick people several nights a week, but she said she takes Monday as her free night. So hopefully, we are finally going to meet to walk next Monday for the first time in more than a year.

I did rather poorly with my plan to take at least one short activity break during the day. The CDC servers were acting up this week and it was slowing everyone down. The stress level for everyone notched up a bit and most of us put in extra time to do the amount of work we usually do in less.

So I am going to keep that goal for the coming week. Since the cold and rain have passed for a few days at least, I should be able to pop out to walk around the cul-de-sacs for few minutes at some point during the day. Last night, I walked part of my hilly outside route, but had to take shorter detour home. I told hubby I'd be back for dinner at 7:30, but some neighbors caught me to chat and I couldn't get away from them very quickly. Nice people though, and I'm glad I'm getting to know them. He works for the FDA and has been working on PPE issues so he sees me as a kindred spirit. Anyway, I still only had about 6K steps at 11:30, so I went outside and walked for another 20 minutes just in the area close to our house. The close neighbors who saw me probably think I'm crazy, but the temps were still nice and moon was brilliant, so it was a good end to the day.

Looking forward to hearing how everyone else is doing.

Ugh.. I know the scale won't be my friend tomorrow. It's been weeks since I weighed myself. Hubby and I talked about it again today how we need to start getting more activity in and eat smaller portions. This after we ate McD's for supper last night
It's not like I have been lazy or anything, just haven't been paying much attention. On Sunday, I painted the basement pretty much ALL day with coat 1. This is for the living room and the bedroom. The bathroom isn't ready for paint yet. Then on Monday, the 2nd coat only took me half a day. By the end of it all, the last thing I felt like doing was lifting weights or going on the treadmill. Yesterday was supposed to be a work day for me, but ended up being a strike day. Didn't feel like picketing, so didn't. Instead I spent the day with the dogs and took our little one for a long walk. The weather was amazing yesterday. I still had such a hard time getting rid of those blahs. I found this article on Facebook when a friend shared it and it really helped me understand what my issues are as of late...so I thought I'd share https://nytimes.com/2021/04/19/well/mind/covid-mental-health-languishing.html

Sarah - Wow that's an insane story about your hubby's eye. I was reading it while holding my eye and my hubby asked me what was wrong when he came around the corner. I told him your story and he cringed. I sure hope he's on the mend. Great to hear that you might finally get to go walking with your walking buddy!

Oh, good grief.. I could not lose weight any slower. Guess it's an age and height thing. I just need to get my mind wrapped around the slow, slow progress.

Sarah, my gosh . . like Kelly, I was a bit freaked out reading about your hubby's eye injury. I'm already very allergic to cats, and have had injured eyes. . . ugh. I hope he is recovering well. And, I absolutely hate having eye dilation. I get a migraine every time. On the bright side, you're reduction are so awesome! That's where I want to be now . . you're my role model, lol. I hope your work lets up enough to allow for time for yourself.

Kelly, I can relate to your Covid blahs. What my husband and I are experiencing is a degree of anxiety about everything even though we are well into our two vaccines. We went to our first movie (matinee) yesterday, and I was so uncomfortable and kept my mask on the whole time. Today, we had a contractor come to give us an estimate on refinishing the natural stone finishes in our house, and I forced myself to not wear a mask. The contractor was fully vaccinated, but wore a mask anyway. I think my mental health has gone to the anxiety / paranoia side of things. It's going to take some time. Painting and work around the house burns a lot of calories! That's going to be so great to have that new space.

Lois, love the meme! Isn't that the truth. It seems I have to get an extra cup of coffee to get myself the energy I need to get going these days. The weather here is great today, and I'm hoping to get out for a nice walk. Had my trainer Monday, and I can feel I need to get the blood moving through those muscles today,

Not sure what I was the last time I weighed in on here, but it's fairly the same. Told the hubby that today is Day 1 of tracking my food again. We'll see how that goes. It's been years since I've tracked. Time to get into it! I managed to take the dog for a longer walk yesterday again, which got me past all of my Apple watch goals. Felt good, so I have to keep going!

Sheesh - Hey.. at least it's going down! I know 0.2 doesn't seem like much but it's going in the right direction!

So we have further restrictions now in our province as our country is going into the 3rd wave in some provinces quite bad. We can't have anyone outside of our household over inside or outside. So dumb.. I'm sorry. I can go sit on public property and be with people but I can't have people in my backyard. And we can even still use restaurant patios with people outside of our household, up to 4 people. It honestly doesn't make any sense to me. It's my Dad's birthday this weekend, so if it's nice on Saturday, I want to take a trip out to see him but we'll have to visit in a park or something. These restrictions are in place for a month. At least the weather has slowly started to improve so I can get my walks in. The languishing is real when I start to think of all this.

Both Hubby and I got our 1st vaccine appointments booked for May 15 for Pfizer! Our area of our city was added today to the eligibility list :)

Hurray Kelly!! Getting vaccinated will help with the languishing . . it just takes a big load of anxiety off, at least it has for me and my hubby. We got out for a movie, I got my trainer back, we can see our family and get together with vaccinated friends. Two of our kids are fully vaccinated now, and 2 more with one shot and the second scheduled. My oldest is 43 and she will get her second shot May 5th. I'm so happy for you. I hope your Dad has a very Happy Birthday and that you'll get to see him even with the further restrictions. My daughter in Oregon says they are going under further restrictions as well . . we just need to get more people vaccinated so we can get closer to herd immunity, and stop the virus from having a chance to mutate into new variants. It's so hard to keep hanging in there though. Great job getting your Apple rings closed. I love that little vibration on my wrist when that happens, don't you?

It's nice here today, and I got out for a quick walk before my trainer came. I'm already sore, lol. I was thinking about why I feel more worn out with her workouts than I did with my own, and I realized that it's because I'm doing them in closer timing and at a quicker pace. Every Monday and Thursday, and she keeps me moving because she is doing all the set up and clean up of the sets. When I was doing them on my own, I took my time and usually got one weight training session every 6 - 8 days. It will take me a while to get back up to speed with her.

I've been hit and miss with logging food. I just have to get back into the habit and stick to it. It's the only way I can lose. So, that will be my small goal for the rest of the week and next week. Water intake is good. Trainer back. Now, log food. . .

So good to see all the posts. Kelly, I am so glad to hear that you and Shawn have vaccination appointments. No vaccine is 100% effective, but the data on the three now approved here in the U.S. is very, very good. Much more effective than flu vaccines. We are still being very cautious though, and I think we'll continue being cautious from some time to come.

Sheesh, we have so much in common, but I'm glad we don't have one thing in common, i.e., allergic to cats! Years ago, we decided that we really wanted a pet but with our long job hours and long commutes plus lots of travel for work, we just couldn't get a dog. So we got our first cat, Phoebe, and have been very grateful for all the love and fun that she and the three that followed her have given us. When they did all those allergy tests a few years ago for my face, I was terrified of what they might find, but I had no chemical or food allergies, no allergic reaction to cats, and only a tiny reaction to dogs. And we dog sit for neighbors and friends and I have no trouble, so that must be really tiny.

Mentioning cats, Hubby's eye is still not healed. He had a second ophthalmologist appointment this morning. I really want him to get back his regular guy for a second opinion even though there was that appointment issue. He is being a trooper. One concern is that he doesn't want anyone blaming Ted. Another is that he knows that attitude is everything in these cases and sometimes that's hard. But we can't get caught in the shoulda, woulda, coulda.

Now as to my weight--arghhh. I am up a full pound today (131.6) even though I've felt a little better the past few days and have increased my activity. Kelly, as much of a pain in the behind as it is to log food, that's the only way I can make any progress. I also find that if I can do it more than once a day, that helps, too. It's not so much that I forget what I ate, but if I do it before dinner and then again at bedtime, it shows me how much the early day added up to and lets me think about making a couple of adjustments in the evening. Evening is my danger zone. And now that I've said that, I really need to be sure to practice it more often.

Sheesh, I'm envious of the home trainer. You must have more space in your home workout area than I do. I have my small treadmill in the basement, but it's only a half basement, so with two big closets, the laundry room, room for the furnace, water, heater, etc., plus hubby's workbench and knife sharpening set up, there's barely room for a few pieces of furniture. Our weight bench is still in the master sitting room where it's forgotten. :s We have about 2400 square for two people. How can we still feel squeezed?

Lois, you've been quiet the past few day. I hope everything is okay with you and yours. If I could piece together regular logging plus your meal planning, I'd be in really good shape. You'll love this. The other night, I fixed baked sweet potatoes at dinner, and when hubby was putting his on his plate, he said, "Thanks, Lois is Arizona!" Until you mentioned sweet potatoes a lot, I just wasn't including them in our meals. Now, we're enjoying having them fairly often.

Oh my goodness. So many posts...trying to catch up.

It's been a rough week over here. Eating horribly and feeling horribly. Not doing anything good. Weight is up and I don't have any desire to do anything.

    Working working working.

Kelly so happy you guys are getting your vaccines!

Sarah hoping your hubby's eye gets better quickly and completely. And enjoy the sweet potatoes - from Arizona :)

Sheesh - still envious of your trainer but not enough to get my own again...lol

Sooo chatting with my colleague who moved to OK, we've committed to walking 1 intentional mile every day in May. So There. That's the starting points.

I'm here. I'm just kind of in a funk and have nothing positive to say or goals to set.

I meant "Lois in Arizona." Gosh I can't type. Logged on to quickly put in todays food and it was not a good day. I'm struggling, too, my friend. I have less energy and I'm hungrier than usual. I did get my 10K today from running errands and then walking the cul-de-sacs around 10 p.m. But the walk was not that pleasurable. The temp was good and normally I enjoy evening walks, but my legs felt like they each weighed a ton. I can't remember having my legs feel like this. Tomorrow night I'm walking with Toni for the first time in more than a year. If she walks as fast as she did before the pandemic, I wonder if I'll be able to keep up!

Anyway, weekend's over, so good night all, and I hope that the upcoming week brings us some good things.
