Heartburn or too much water?

So I brought this up to my surgeon when I saw him last week and he wasn't overly concerned because the feeling is higher up, closer to my throat.

It feels like heartburn sort of... I have only ever had heartburn a handful of times in my life and this certainly is nothing like that but it is a burny kind of feeling. It tends to happen when I drink water. I drink a lot of water and sometimes I am able to drink a few large sips at a time. I am trying to slow myself down but it doesn't cause me pain so I kind of just keep doing it.

Anyone else have similar or advice?

The surgeon said he would prescribe for it if I needed.

My pain if I eat or drink to fast or the wrong thing is just under my sternum, not up near throat. I have burning and pressure as well if I lay down to soon after eating.
