This will be my last post for at least a week, possibly 3. We move out of our house next week, and are staying at a rental in Houston while we have some work done and wait for our belongings to make the journey. I'm not sure if we'll have access to a scale until we unpack.5 -
I hope the move goes smoothly for you @bearchested.2

After a few weird Friday weigh-ins, with last week being pretty and high the week before being pretty low, I’m feeling confident that this week is a good reflection of where I’m at... in the end the only thing that matters is that the overall trend is headed in the right direction. 😁
My original goal was to reach 135, losing 1 lb per week. Can’t believe I am nearly there. Looking forward, I’m setting a maintenance range between 131-134. Without getting too far ahead of myself, I’ll be learning how to maintain that....no plans to ever need to re-lose what I worked hard to get rid of 😁

As my husband mentioned above, they're packing up our stuff on Monday and our stuff should arrive in Texas before June 11th. Then I need to start unpacking. (Jessica - We decided to take some time and travel around California before we left. They were doing work on our house like painting and getting everything cleaned for showing. We didn't want our two and four-year-olds in the house during that time. They tend to color on the walls. Which is why we had limited access to a scale for the last month)

can't wait to hear more about your job and your big project...sounds amazing!
Jessica
Hi! Sorry this is late. I've been tired from (drumroll...) working. I'm actually at work now. Happy Saturday to me? Lol.
I work in science, specifically oncology research. If anyone's heard of CRISPR, that's the main technology we're working with. Our focus basically is on treating cells that have had various genes selectively knocked out with existing chemo drugs to see what kind of combinations make them do better or worse.
My 'big project' is one of those screens; my first one start to finish even though I've done a lot of different parts of the process over the last 6 months. The cancer cells need to be split and sampled every 3 days for a few weeks, which is super labor intensive. After all the samples are collected, we isolate the DNA and sequence to find out which knockouts are helping vs hurting treatment. I'm nervous because at any point something might get messed up so things would have to be started from scratch, but so far so good! A lot of frantically running around the lab for the next 3 weeks, but will hopefully get some clean results from it.
Would love to hear about anyone else's work as well if they'd care to share (:5 -
Wow @kerdil08 how wonderfully fulfilling it must be to know you're making a difference on the cancer fronts!!! That's awesome! I commend your choice of occupations...I wish I was doing something so important, but I guess we all contribute in some way around the world...my company gets things from point A to point B, so logistics plays a little part in making sure we all get what we need, I guess...but I've always felt a little envy green for those with math or science backgrounds who can really do something huge in the world. If I'd been better in math, I probably would have gotten a computer science degree...but I can only imagine conquering Calculus...heck algebra scared me! So, I got a degree in Education...but decided not to teach (except for my piano lessons)...and kinda fell into Transportation/Logistics...who da thunk it?! LOL!
I echo her sentiment...everyone share a little about what you do...what it means to you? What you wish you would have done if you could start over? and finally, what difference you think your job makes in the "greater scheme of things" on the big planet? It's interesting and helps us all get to know each other a bit more...
Heading out for a walk...it's such a beautiful day! Hope to hear from YOU soon!

Nice loss...your consistency is inspiring!!! I get so mad at my scale sometimes...but I tend to get too hung up on the numbers...enjoy the rest of your weekend!
I'll watch for your friend invite on Fitbit too!! We'll keep each other moving. I'm just now getting back to my norms since my holiday knee issues in late December. I just have to remember to not to do 6k every day...gotta skip a few days during the week...but I'll get there!

Sorry- I have serious struggled mentally & physically this week. So much sad news, hubby's hospital appointment & work is rediculous at the moment thanks to schools having to do Centre Assessed Grades instead of external exams but as ever the information was last minute & deadlines are almost impossible - how the Department of Education couldn't pre-empt this in September or at least November so we had a plan for the year instead of cramming everything into 2 months.... grrrrrrrrr!3 -

So sorry for the late weigh in! I threw my Dad a surprise birthday party for his 75th yesterday and Friday/Saturday were slammed with preparation and everything that could go wrong, seemed to go wrong lol. It was out of town at my Uncle's house and party city didn't deliver my order until 2 1/2 hours late, the catering company lost my order, but it all came together thankfully and we had a blast. I got him really good, he had no idea what was coming. 😂
I made my 1st goal weight this week, this was also my first "cheat" meal yesterday I had a shrimp tempura and a slider lol. I'm still not happy at all with what I look like in photos, the next 20 lbs are where I pass over the personal threshold of "acceptable" so going to keep pushing hard to get there. Things have slowed down a lot on the scale the past two weeks, but I've added about 3 lbs of water and lost 4 lbs of fat so my increased electrolyte consumption is working.
Thanks everyone for your kind words of support! Sorry I haven't been around much this week.6 -

Take it one day at a time!! I fell in August and had 200ml worth of fluid built up in my knee. I messed it up so bad that the inflammation in my knee actually pushed my meniscus to the side. I was in agony for months, couldn't walk, couldn't do stairs. I was in so much pain, but I did little things every day to try to get it back to normal. Then one day the pain was just gone. The swelling is still there, but not as bad as it was. I do have osteoarthritis in that knee too so hopefully it doesn't cause problems In the future.
