DW and I went out to lunch Saturday. First time in 14 months. It was warm here in south FL but we sat outside even though DW would have preferred the AC. Had to walk through the restaurant to the patio.

Saw exactly 1 mask on a customer beyond the hostess. Happy see my favorite restaurant doing well and my favorite waitress still on the job.

The well to do town we live in is mostly a bunch of strip malls. That particular strip mall has 5 restaurants plus a new bakery that just recently opened, and a bunch of other shops. Only one business didn’t make it, that’s a boxing gym. They had crowded classes where people would bang on the heavy bags. Gone. However the spinning gym is still going.

That gym is the only vacant store. I think every business had a help wanted sign.

Surprised all the restaurants made it, it I guess Florida was a bit less restrictive than the Northeast. Quite a few restaurants closed in Massachusetts, and some in NH where we are. We did takeout over the past year, but limited it to two restaurants we were most committed to seeing survive.

I have to say that the food, served fresh from their ovens now that we’re dining out, is better for the fact that it hasn’t cooled in transit.

I am glad you had a good, positive experience.

While some restaurants closed here, most were able to pivot to the takeout/delivery model. Some of the brewpubs made a lot of hand sanitizer at the start. That said, they are quite glad that things are much more open, even if capacity remains greatly reduced.

TOL still doesn't want to go out. Of course, she has a chef to fix dinner. ;)
