Don't stick your hand in a fire??? Exercise your power of choice. Be an adult. Take responsibility for your own choices and don't depend on a doctor to "fix" it for you if you continue to choose unwisely.

You sound angry and bitter. I get it. I feel angry too sometimes.
It's not easy nor is it simple. But don't blame a doctor.

I don't know how it works in the States, but my doctors are great. They treat the whole person with diet and exercise, and as a very, very last resort, I had to go on insulin. But, keep in mind, my pancreas was almost completely distroyed by a surgical error.

I will say my last doctor had a 1950's approach really. He made a few recommendations, monitored the A1C and then added meds until you were in range. I went keto and brought my numbers down, went off metformin, etc. The nurse said no ne EVER went off diabetes meds. They just added new ones as things progressed.

My doctor expressed some disbelief at my progress. I asked if he wanted to know what I was doing. He laughed and said, "No - just keep doing it." He left the examining room, and the nurse said, "You can tell me."

My new doctor is younger and more progressive. He is quite interested in what I am doing and has more of a "whole person" approach. I like him, and he is very supportive of the keto diet as a strategy in managing the glucose levels. He observes many patients don't have the self-discipline to make diet effective, but he likes the fact that i do.
