Awesome! Happy with that. I have been making better food choices and actually paying attention to what I'm eating, plus I got back on the treadmill and have been walking the dogs. The weather is insanely hot this week, with Friday being 39C (102.2F), so I'm sure we'll be inside for most of the day. I'll have to get out early for a walk.

Friday our pup goes for his snip snip appointment. I'm nervous and I hope he does ok and the recovery isn't too bad for him. He's 8 months old today.

Ok.. just a quick post, but I'll be back later to read the posts and post more.

OK. So I'm going bonkers with the 1.5lb daily weight swings. Garmin has a 7 day average and that's what I'm going to start to use instead of daily number on Wednesday. Maybe that will help my mindset. I also turned the AC schedule on upstairs so that it will be cooler after my workday and hopefully that will help be a motivator since I'm going to be paying to cool upstairs.

Kelly - GREAT job on that reduction! I feel ya on the temps. We've had a couple of those triple digit days and it is sweltering.

Frustratingly slow, but I'll take it especially in light of the holiday weekend at the cabin. I was very mindful, skipped the bun on my burger, and limited myself to one light beer per day, lol!

Great work Kelly! A full pound gone! When I was making meat at the cabin, I picked up the 2 pound package and it hit me how heavy 2 pounds is, that's meat that is lean so much smaller in volume than fat. It is NO JOKE to remove even one pound of fat from our bodies. Congrats.

The temperatures in Canada really are insane. Wow. That is actually quite concerning. What is the normal for this time of year? We're in a major drought here, and the Governor has asked everyone to cut way back on water usage, and the threat of fires is really high. I hope they don't ban fires in the canyon . . we enjoyed such a nice fire with s'mores, scary stories last weekend. (We had our step granddaughter who is 9 and loves scary stories, lol) Anyway, I'm hoping this summer isn't a scorcher.

Lois, it's great that you're getting some virtual races lined up. And, you sound like you're feeling much better, getting out of your funk and moving forward.

Thanks for the nice comments of congratulations for our daughter's pregnancy. :) I'm finding that another baby on the way is motivating me . . . a baby here will be so great, and I know how much energy it takes to be a grandma of a little one. I'm upping the cardio, lol! I didn't have my trainer Monday because of the holiday, but I did a cardio workout yesterday and I'm headed for one now . . weight training Thursday with trainer. Also, hubby and I are doing a virtual race that our DIL in Cali is sponsoring either on Friday or Saturday . . 5K.

I don't know if you all remember me complaining about a rash I got in January, 3 weeks after my first Shingrix vaccine. I swear it was shingles, mild, but it looked more like shingles than hives. Hubby says the stress of the Jan 6 insurrection caused it. My doctor says the vaccine is not a live one, so it couldn't have caused it. Anyway, we're scheduled to have our second dose on Sunday. We wanted to wait until a good amount of time had passed since Covid vaccinations, but within the 6 month time frame for the second Shingrix dose. I'm SO NERVOUS about it. So, please send positive thoughts my way Sunday. o:)

Sheesh - Sending big virtual hugs and positive thoughts your way. My guess is your rash was from stress, so try not to stress this time. Maybe try some meditating?
Great job on the reduction! Do you have a goal weight that you're trying to achieve?
That's great about your Utah Jazz. It's so nice to have sports to cheer for. 550 health care workers in our province are going to our Winnipeg Jets game tonight! It's the 1st game of the 2nd round. I'm so happy for those that were chosen. I see it as a positive sign and great things to come.

Lois - We are REALLY missing having friends over too. We built this house and yard to entertain and now it's just us. Our grocery shopping habits have changed too with having no extra people over.
That's great that you're reading outside. Sounds soooo lovely.

Ok.. another quick post. It's the end of my work day and I have to run the pup to the dog park for a bit.

Ok. So I found a wee bit of motivation and got in a mile on the TM. Figured if I am going to pay to cool down upstairs that I better make it worthwhile. Couldn’t remember how to get into the TM on my garmin so I got up and got it done.

Sheesh half a pound is a great reduction. Embrace it. And remember you reduced a half of pound over a holiday food splurging weekend. So Cheers!!

Kelly were in the same boat. We keep this house because it truly is great for entertaining

Good luck with your sports teams!!!

How boring was it Lois? :D That's awesome. So great that you found a bit of motivation too!

My motivation this morning was seeing another lb lost again today. I'm sure it's water weight, but I don't care. I've been awesome with my eating and drinking tons of water, so I'm sure it's doing something!

Sorry to be late, ladies. Yesterday, hubby finally had an early morning appointment with his regular ophthalmologist whom he couldn't see when he had that eye injury back in mid-April. I don't know if I mentioned it, but he had long phone conversation with him about being told no one could see him that day, and he decided to put that behind him and get his doc's opinion on his eye. He just didn't have a good feeling about the new doctor he was seeing. And it's a good thing he did, because he turns out he got a wrong diagnosis. His sclera (white of his eye) had not been sliced open. Instead, what was being seen was the flap of the lasik surgery which had been pulled up a bit and then the edge folded under when it settle back down. His doc said it's too late now to do anything since it's not affecting his vision and it doesn't hurt, but if this had been correctly diagnosed early, they could have simply gone in and reflipped out the edge. Perhaps some good will come of this, however. The person who told him none of the docs could see him even though it was an emergency was fired, and so was the person who checks the voicemail on the line where he left a message. So hopefully the next person with an emergency will not get turned away.

Anyway, he went to that appointment and I told him I'd be ready to leave when he got back so we could get plants for the patio. Company is coming a week from today and with the rains we've had (wish we could share, Sheesh), we are way behind in planting. I did weigh and thought I'd have time to post before he got back, but traffic was much less than expected, so he rolled in before I could even get my hair dried. And then we spent the the day traveling to a garden center/farm that we like, but that is a little trip for for us. We also stopped at a Lowes for plants, and then ran all the household errands. I got a little planting done, too, but I never made it up to my computer.

So here I am finally and it was a treat to have a number of posts to read. Looks like everyone had a good week last week. Kelly, that pound is awesome. It is so motivating to see a good solid loss. I am sorry about the lockdown and all the people who are so sick in your area. I do hope that you get more people vaccinated soon. And as for disappointing sports teams, the Nats are not doing well at all this year. I soothe myself by remembering that we were doing terrible at first the year we won the World Series. But we have a long history of going to the division finals and losing there. But a gal can hope.

Sheesh, the news about the new grandbaby is wonderful. You had mentioned that one reason your daughter did not want to further postpone the wedding was that she wanted to start a family, so I am thrilled for her and all the family. And good luck with the second shingles shot. I will send you good vibes. I have put off getting the new two-part one and I need to get that done. I had it scheduled when COVID hit and my doc said wait a couple of months after my second vaccine. And I'm there now. I also put off my mammogram and have to get that done, too. It's always something. :/

Lois, I am so happy to see you back on the board. I was beginning to worry about that funk. I've been through those times myself--sometimes minor ones and sometimes not so minor. And I fully understand why you didn't log in on days off work. If I come up to my computer when I'm off, I find it hard not to check on work, too. And then . . . So it's good to stay offline. And reading in the summer is such a pleasure. I love to take a book and a glass of tea outside and dive into a good book. If you read something that is really good, let me know the title, and I'll check our library. I'm getting to the end of the one I'm reading now.

Well, I hope to get back here before too long to post more, but I am working today and have a meeting this evening, too. I really do want to do something to get myself refocused, although I suspect that next week, what I eat and what activity I get will be affected a lot by my houseguest.

Quickly checking in after posting last night's dinner and breakfast today. I'm learning that I can no longer remember beyond meal before last! Got a text from my friend who arrived in Hershey, PA yesterday. She is now talking about coming here a day earlier than we had originally planned. I had planned to work extra next Monday and Tuesday so that I could perhaps take off some or all of Thursday, but if she comes in on Tuesday that will not work. So today, I will be scrambling to hopefully get the planting done and some extra housework done, too. Yesterday, I worked and also had an evening commitment, so we were eating dinner at almost 9 o'clock. I made it to the treadmill finally at 11 p.m. and walked for 40 minutes. It did not get me to 10K--not even close--but I did fight that urge to just not try. (Did you gals hear me talking to you in my head? You won!!) At some point, I just have to start getting to sleep before 1 a.m. so I can walk in the morning.

Sarah - oh my goodness here's my list of books in no particular order or preference - I enjoyed them all to a certain level:
Nomadland - also movie - documentary writing.
The prettiest girl in cuba - historical fiction
The yellow wife - historical fiction
Pachinko - historical fiction - reminded me a bit of The Good Earth
Paper Wishes - quick read...about a child during the Japanese internment
    Song of Achilles
    Circes
The Great Alone - tough read - still recommend
Firefly Lane series -- also binge watched the shows
The Duke and I series - also binge watched the shows
    The Goldfinch
The Bromance Book Club, Crazy Stupid bromance, Undercover Bromance - Funny series.
    Love Lettering
    Radium Girls

Well dang...no wonder I haven't gotten in any steps lately!!!
Just downloaded The Last Train to Key West...no idea what it's about - it popped up in my library recomends...

I haven't been picky on selections, just enjoy escaping work and home for a bit.

OK...So on our highway signs ADOT has been posting 5.5m vaccinated! That is so contradictory to what you reported. Is that possibly because some people didn't do the CDS Tracker app after they got their vaccine? I'm hoping that's the variable.

My daughter Audrey is coming up tomorrow. I have no idea what we're going to do (possible pool and definitely margaritas)...but it will be nice to have her visit.

Just checking in to read your posts quickly today. . the summer is getting busier for us all. Lois, that is quite the list of books. . Good for you! Lately, I've been stuck in the juvenile book category for the online girls book club my granddaughter started, lol. But, I'll tell you what, there are some good books in that category. Right now we're reading the Spy Kids series by James Ponti. Really good. My hubby is a prolific reader, but mostly reads biographies, history, and cop thriller fiction. I hope you enjoy Audrey's visit.

Kelly, wow! Another pound gone. . you're awesome. You're back on track and doing so well. Is your downstairs gym all set up? Working out is great, but for me it's all about what I'm putting in my mouth. I enjoy workouts now, but making good food choices is my Achilles heel.

Sarah, I'm sure you and your friend will have a really nice visit. I'm sure she only wants to spend time with you and doesn't care about whether the planting is done. But, I know how that is . . you want to have everything perfect. It will be so nice for you to catch up after a long year of Covid.

I had my second Shingrix shot, and I feel fine other than a sore arm at the injection site. Glad it's over with. Yesterday my sister reported she is feeling much better, and has decided to not get surgery for her hiatal hernia. But, her hubby STILL has shingles. It's been about 6 months, and not even an improvement. The one in his eye is of most concern, and he gets it checked by his eye doctor very often. It's very frustrating for her and him, and they are quite painful. Poor guy. The weird thing is that my sister still hasn't gotten the vaccine for them. Every time I talk to her I ask that she please get it. Our father had a terrible time with them. She says she hasn't had time. Sigh.

Well, I'm off to get a walk . .probably on the treadmill because it's so dang hot here, and I'm taking it a bit easy because of the shot. I hope you all have a good Sunday.

Lois, my first post was one of those "brain not working" moments. I meant to type 100.1 million and left out the zeros, but even that was an old number. It hung in my brain because I had been working with an older document getting stuff out for trends. I will get today's figures and them along. I think you probably saw a sign with state data, not national.

Sheesh - add in Artie the Doughnut series that I read for my 9 yo granddaughter...and the others for Rhea. Still trying to get the 9 yo to do a book club with me...

Saturday was great with Audrey. We literally wasted the day in the pool. It was 106 but the pool was refreshing. Lots of SPF 50 was used. Hubby even went to the store to buy us new noodles so we both took a "noodle nap" as well. Just spent the day hanging and visiting. Oh and we got her hooked on the show Naked and Afraid...LOL. We did make burgers and sliced mango for dinner on Saturday and Audrey and I shared an Italian sub for lunch, with mango and grapes and some chips. Oh and we both forgot to drink margaritas. We were both calming to one another that we didn't think about it until it was too late for her to drink and then drive home. So sober day as well.

Sunday I got my toes done (mom was too tired to go) hit the store for a new flag (ours got shredded in our last storm and I don't have any spares). I told hubby I think we need to put the new mount on the other corner or in the middle of the garage away from the Ironwood tree that keeps catching the flag. I bought two so we'd have a spare, but it is a thicker pole so we need to use the new mount. I also finished some chores and relaxed some more...last week was super stressful. Anyhow I feel in a better mindset today so maybe I need that chill weekend. I made hubby/mom their chicken and there is still food left over from Saturday's stuff. I'll be ordering a grain bowl for lunch today. No Rhea this weekend, but we'll see her next weekend for Pampa's bday lunch/dinner.

I do have on my calendar to do another mile on the TM after work...so the ac is set to run and keep it cool upstairs.

Sarah - Ok..so now your numbers make sense...I was think ADOT was whacked out...lol.

Sheesh when my son was an infant and my daughter was in kinder - she brought home chicken pox. Well my mom and step dad were visiting/living with us for six months during a City of Hope (lung cancer resurfaced) visit. Ma ended up with shingles pretty bad. She wasn't here two months before she was attacked and she was still having issues when she went home. I know that they lasted several several months. I wasn't sure if it was because of the rx she was on for her chemo and COPD stuff...but I wouldn't be surprised if it went on a full year looking back. It's a rough one. I know when Rhea hits kinder that I'll be taking that vaccine...

Kelly I can't wait to see a finished pic of your basement. I sent a copy of my little machine area in our bedroom retreat area. Really struggling to find the motivation to use it. Hoping all is going well with getting the vaccines. You guys sure are having it rough.
