It's been said that you cannot out-exercise a bad diet….. and it's MUCH more difficult to lose weight with poor or inconsistent nutrition.
Overall success is all about building healthy HABITS, DISCIPLINE, and CONSISTENCY, and these building blocks don't just happen overnight. There aren't any magic pills or shortcuts.- It's about continually doing the small things that move us in the right direction.
- It's about learning to kick shame and guilt to the curb and getting right back at it when we've had a binge day (or a binge weekend!)
- It's about developing DISCIPLINE and HABITS that will continue to WORK FOR YOU long after you've achieved your goal weight.
The UAC is not only a great place for ACCOUNTABILITY, but also to work on your DISCIPLINE and HABITS. It's a safe place, because no one is here to judge you - we've ALL been there! And if you have an issue or problem that you're struggling with or just can't seem to overcome, speak up! Tell us about it! Chances are that others have experienced that same issue. We have many members who have lots of experience and will often give us nuggets of wisdom and insight.
So what is an area of DISCIPLINE, or a HABIT that you need to work on in July? Or, if you're like me, are you just trying to get the UAC's 3 pillars under your belt as a "habit"!? Whatever it is, we're all in this together!💪🏿👟🎯👟 .•*¨`*•..¸😃 🎯 😃.•*¨`*•..¸👟🎯👟 💪
Happy Independence Day to those in the US! Stay safe! I'll be travelling over the holiday weekend to visit family in PA that we haven't seen since before COVID. I'll only be able to get on the UAC via my phone while I'm away (thus, the early post). 🧨 🙋♀️9 -
Hard to believe I am the first poster today. I actually lost track of what day it was and thought I had taken my synthroid already (Sun was empty) and then realized it was Monday... OH my!!!

Hope everyone is having a great day! I totally agree that you can't out exercise poor eating. But I have to say when you are in maintenance it is NICE to exercise when you are not in a deficit.

Exercise – yes – bike ride 40 minutes plus walking and some cardio.
Tracked – yes
Calories – yes with 100+ to spare.
Pass days 2/3
I agree with @TerriRichardson112 – it’s good to have those exercise calories for the extras. As a little old lady my maintenance calories base would be only 1400 if I were sedentary. It’s quite difficult to get a decent quantity of protein in that allowance and certainly no treats. I had to aim for 1200 calories when I was losing weight and I really needed the exercise calories.
There is so much positive encouragement going on - everyone is doing such a good job - well done!8 -

You can't out-exercise a bad diet - GUILTY as charged. I have a handle on this now, but for years, I thought all the biking and running was the way to lose the weight. And I now get irritated when I see a heading "so-and-so ran a marathon and lost 50 lbs." It's certainly possible, but it sends the wrong message.
And so now, I have my diary set at "slightly active". I do add back in when I run or bike, but I generally don't eat them all back. What I eat has a much bigger affect on what I weigh than how much I bike or run.

Came up short on the workout plan today. Not only for timing reasons but because when I laugh, my abs really hurt (😂 but also 😬)
My habit formation goal is a perennial one: stretching consistently.

Today was yet another strange day, getting a call to pick my brother up from the ER right after waking up and then spending half of the day with him to make sure he was well and also to catch up (he's fine).
July has been off to a bit of a challenging start but so far I have been making good choices overall and not going off the rails. The only real consequence seems to be a lot of missed workouts. I guess if that's the worst of it, things are not really that bad.
I was able to keep active today, on my feet most of the day, really.

It took me a long time to learn that you can’t outrun a bad diet. Sure with exercise you can earn extra calories for treats or an indulgence, but it doesn’t give you a license to eat whatever you want the rest of the day!

I work from home, have for about 29 years, and so I bike on my work breaks when I have time. My husband had the day off today because of yesterday being Fourth of July, but I had to work. So...he was able to join me during one of my weekday rides. Note: we both have Wednesdays off, so we ride then. Today was just a little different for me, though. I enjoyed it. However, I do enjoy my alone time riding, too.4 -
Good on all three today. Was out fishing on my boat for 5 hours which believe it or not is pretty good exercise.4

yes x 3 today. Still have not had time to go through this months posts. Today, we looked at a town house for downsizing and as of an hour ago, we purportedly have an accepted offer. Now just the formalities and then life will be nuts for months. We have to pack up and do some refinishes (paint, cabinetry, tile, and other) of our house to put on the market first thing in september. We'll see what happens. Goal will be to keep my head above water!6
