Hello Guys and Gals. I started You Are Your Own Gym last week. Mostly because it seemed an easy level to start at.
Today was my third day working out after 2 days off. When I went to do the push up portion of my workout this morning and I just couldn't seem to recruit the strength necessary to pump them out and then failing all together. Switched up to an easier version to finish my workout. I did better than that on my first day!
What are some of the common causes for such a thing? (Don't look at my diary, I'm working on getting better at that) Just looking for general answers so I an be more mindful going forward.

Form what I can ascertain from a Google search, the problem lies in nutrition and sleep. Sorry about the post.0

Don't apologize for a post - ever. Everyone is entitled to ask questions and seek advice.
I'm guessing muscle weakness from use. I can relate. It took me a very long time to crank out push ups in plank rather than modified and I was so discouraged at first. But I kept at it. Each day I would challenge myself to try to do one more regular. Sometimes I didn't have the strength and would have to go to modified. It will come with time and perseverance.
As for food - I didn't look but if you know there needs to be a change then make that happen. You'll see better, faster results in the gym by eating the right way. You can do this. Don't get discouraged.0 -
We all have bad days. It can be a mixture of things including:
- diet in general
- mix of macros
- timing of macros (e.g. lower carbs before working out)
- sleep
- battling an illness/being sick
- just generally having an off day
If you continue having issues with progressing, let us know and we can try to look at your intake and make suggestions.0 -

Today was a leg routine and I felt good. Well... until it came to an exercise that involved hip flexors. Wow they'er tight!!
