It was another brutal day here as I am sure it is elsewhere. Well my friend said it was 75 ion Mackinaw Island today. I need to be up north at my home away from home.

Sorry so many are struggling with extreme weather. Stay safe. Stay hydrated.

Yesterday I went to NY City and made goal running over the Brooklyn Bridge before the day got really hot. I'm at 53/50. Tomorrow I should also make my Garmin monthly step goal challenge. One advantage of the city is walking everywhere boosts my step count!

Got to pull out all the stops now to make target. Had to isolate for 10 days after coming back off holiday, then the weather was too hot to walk too far so I got behind. I'm hoping I can make it up. I think I am back on target now. 🤞🤞🤞

CONGRATS on GOAL to @LEANZ and @JANET!!! :drinker:

@CLEPANT - That had to be scary getting lost and not having a reliable way to get back!

So it's a good thing I made goal while I was gone because I got injured on the last day of our trip. We were rushing to get on the road to ride home from Michigan to Minnesota. We had been on the road for about an hour and a half and stopped for gas about 11:00am. Two of the three pumps were out of order so I went to turn my big heavy bike (further loaded to the gills with luggage and stuff) to get to the other side of the row of pumps, and the bike tipped over on the back of my foot/leg and landed square on my achilles tendon. I felt it pop. Manage to drive it the 6 hours home to go straight to the Orthopedic Walk-In Clinic on Sunday night before they closed. X-ray showed nothing broken, but inconclusive about soft tissue. I had an MRI on it Monday and get the results tomorrow. I'm in an air cast for now, but expecting I'm going to hear that I need surgery. I'm going to be out of commission for a while anyway. It's going to be fun walking down the aisle getting married in 4 days wearing this stupid air cast boot and being on crutches. :disappointed: But hey, could've been worse, I guess.

Met with the doc for the results of the MRI this morning. Not what I hoped for, but what I expected. My achilles tendon is completely ruptured. He called it "impressive". lol I guess if you're going to do something, do it good, right? The good news is that I don't have to wear the air boot to walk down the aisle or for pictures as long as it doesn't hurt. And another thing I'm going to do since it's an outdoor wedding is ride the small bike up to where I begin my walk down the aisle being "assisted" by the two guys from Arizona we were visiting when I proposed.

I can't really damage anything any further than it already is and I go in for surgery next Friday, August 6th. Then 2 weeks of ZERO weight on that foot. That pretty much means I stay in bed except to go to the bathroom or to my work or personal computer in the next room. Can't leave the second floor of my house. I may take my laptops into bed so I don't even have to get out of bed for that. That's going to be a LONG two weeks. After that I can begin putting light weight on it and probably begin doing physical therapy. He expects about 10-12 weeks for recovery. I'm going to have a pretty small goal for August. Maybe 1 mile?

Ugh...honestly, I am pretty bummed I'm not going to be able to go for my daily walks or bike rides for quite a while. And same with the motorcycles. I might get away with riding the small one again after 6-8 weeks. Oh and our honeymoon to Alaska is being rescheduled for later. :-/ On the plus side, at least I will be able to collect on my Accident Insurance plan.

    Sorry for the long post.
    Dave

@Dave: First of all congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Somewhere I missed it in the feed. Secondly, your wedding will always be memorable. And remember it is for better or worst, in sickness and in health, I am so terribly sorry to hear about your Achilles rupture. Your doctor is right, you did the big major injury.
Third: I am majorly impressed that you could shift or or use your rear break depending on the foot, because, usually you cannot do any flexing when the Achilles is ruptured. So you did some incredible driving.
Finally: It sounds like you have figured out how to maneuver through your wedding and now just go and enjoy it, You will have a great story to share for years to come. All the best for your special day. Keeping you in my prayers for a successful surgery and healing.

@Dave - Wow! That's going to take some time to heal, even with surgery. Sorry about that. Congratulations on the wedding. Keep us posted on the surgery.
