Just wanted to quickly post my weigh in so I don't forget. Not worried about the upswing as I'm still doing very good with my eating and even managed to go for a long bike ride with Shawn last night and a couple walks with the dogs.

I'll post more later.

Okay. Moving in the right direction, but I hope I can soon recoup all that I regained. I cannot believe this post includes the word "July." Where the heck does time go?

Kelly, I read your post about the children a couple of days ago, but didn't have to time to post as work was calling. I have been reading about this and I think you're right that it was not limited to Canada. It's unthinkable and it makes me sad and angry. I cannot envision anyone hurting a child, and to harm children because of their race or ethnicity? That is beyond evil. I've always said the only reason I think of that I would harm another person would be if that person was harming a child, an animal, or an elderly person.

And mentioning animals, thank you Lois for the kind words about Bella. She seems to be walking a little better but is still somewhat flat-footed in the rear and she's not moving around much. Hubby left a message for the vet yesterday, but we have not heard back. I'll check with them again if we don't get a call back soon.

I did manage to get my 10K steps in 6 out the past 7 days. I think I am going to have to accept that getting that many steps in on Thursdays will not always be possible since I go from paid work where I sit to volunteer work where I mostly sit. And I'm generally so tired by the time we get home, I cannot face either the TM or the streets. I also did some arm work this past week, but that darned shoulder is talking to me again today. I would not have walked as much or picked up a dumbbell if it had not been for you ladies.

Last night, I was able to walk with my walking buddy for the first time in weeks. It was good to catch up and to have her company. With all the mall stores closing (it looks like August will be it), it's almost depressing to be in there alone. There's a Holiday Inn across the street, and I saw some tourist types drifting around night before last. They had this WTF look on their faces! But with our high temps and high humidity this past week, I've been taking advantage of the walking space.

I am once again on the holiday crew for work, so we have no plans for July 4 weekend. We'll most likely spend some time at the pool with our neighbors and I think we may go out to dinner with a small group of friends on Saturday evening. I am reading a good book now and am also looking forward to some time to chill.

My team lead has been nice for the past week, so perhaps our scuffle is in the past. But we are once again losing a team member, so work may get a little tougher now because of that. It seems like every person we get on our task force is quickly finding a better, permanent position. Being on the COVID-19 response team is not for everyone for sure.

Lois, I hope you have fun with Rhea and the other kiddos this weekend. It's good to hear that you're getting into a new groove with the bike and TM, too. And Kelly, I think you'll find the scale down again tomorrow. My weight will go up for about a half day after I'm pretty active. I always imagine that it's my muscles holding onto fluid, but have no idea if that's feasible.

I have to run now to call the IT people, but will try to check back later. I had computer issues yesterday, but there was a systemwide problem, too, so I was not able to get any help. I think I'll give it a shot today while I don't have meetings or deadlines. I don't think we'll hear from Sheesh until she returns from the West Coast, but who knows. Maybe she'll find a few minutes between video games with the kiddos.

YAY some movement in the right direction. I have been doing a bit better on my food choices and I think adding my intentional movement has been so beneficial. Not only to my weight but my head game as well. I have a couple of co-workers that have joined me in the Fit Life Project so we are encouraging one another to get some sort of challenge down each week. Hoping we can maintain some of this excitement for a few months at least.

Kelly - I agree with Sarah - the day after a hard workout, I weigh a pound or more with lactic and water retention. Keep up the good work. You're inspiring me often!

Sarah - fantastic job with that reduction. Back to normal life post visitors and it's showing! I feel for you with the mall closing. So did I understand that you are walking in a hotel pathway for mileage? That could be very pretty...and a great idea. I mean, who knows that you're not staying there if it provides a safe pathway... or did you mean the travelers were WTF the mall closing?

I've scheduled myself for a 5k tonight after work and tomorrow night I'll pick one of the other challenges that come up in the FLP - it won't be a 5k (can't do that two days in a row), I will get some intentional miles in. I can recover Friday morning.

Sheesh is enjoying her grandkids and kids and probably having the time of her life.

The WTF look was people from the hotel who came over to the mall. A lot of people who come to visit DC stay out in the suburbs because it is so much less expensive and they can take the metro train downtown. Poor things probably thought they'd spend some evening time shopping and were not prepared for one anchor store and maybe 15 smaller stores open in a mall that size. A few places in the food court are still open, but all of the restaurants have closed.

I did get there for my walk last night and ran into another walker I know. We joined up and got our 10K. I was surprised to not see more walkers (only one other one) since our "feel like" temp at 6 p.m. was 103 degrees. It was so humid the air felt heavy on your skin!

Well, off to start my day. I am getting my hair cut during lunch so I started early today and decided to take a quick break to log last night's dinner. Update on Bella is that the vet wants to give her a little more time to heal if this is related to the collision with hubby's feet, but went ahead and scheduled x-rays for next week. I'm very worried about my sweet little girl. She doesn't seem to be in pain but is not moving around. She did not come downstairs last night to sit with me to watch the ballgame, which was something she always did. :'(

Happy 4th of July! :) I logged on to add food for Friday evening and yesterday and remembered why it's never good to not finish logging food for the day. There was a time when I could remember a pretzel I ate 3 days ago--but no more.

The heat wave has broken here and we're having some storms and breezes that made going to the pool not so inviting on Friday and yesterday. But it's great walking weather, and thus far since weigh-in day, other than Thursday when I worked and was out for the evening, I have made my 10K steps. However, the scale had still edged up some yesterday, so I know I have to start focusing more closely on intake and logging food as that is key for me. I've learned I can't walk my way out of bad food choices (what I eat, how much, or when). So for the next few days I'm going to focus on intake, get my 10K steps, and hope that Wednesday the scale will show some downward movement.

I keep getting reminders that I need to focus on every single day in every way because we never know when there's a major change we cannot control around the corner. A close friend who is almost like a brother to us has been in the hospital for 11 days with a serious foot infection that began with his stepping on needle. He was supposed to be here for my birthday next week, but that has had to change. Hubby and I are thinking about making the trip to NC to see him, but we'd need to do that over a weekend and the route down is one that everyone takes to the beaches in Virginia and to the NC outer banks. It's grueling. And with hubby's neck pain and IBS acting up, that trip seems a bit daunting now.

On a more cheerful note, the sun is out and the winds are minimal so far today, so we will likely spend a part of the day with neighbors and friends at the pool and I'll get some water walking in. If the cooler temps hold, I'll also get to spend some time on our patio which is my favorite at-home get away spot. We'll also watch baseball, as that's our summertime thing. Sheesh, the Nationals were not doing well at all, then suddenly started winning and moved from last place in the NL East to second place. But then we got hit with more injuries than anyone could imagine. Several starting pitchers, several starting infielders, and our star batter who was making waves throughout baseball with all his home runs are now on the IL and we are having to patch through with people we're bringing in from the minors. So disappointing and no end in sight. :'(

Again, hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

Sarah - gotcha on the WTF looks. Hoping your Bella is feeling better soon and she won't need to go for xrays. Fingers are crossed. WOW about your friend...yowsers and YIKES. Hoping he heals well and quickly. Good luck if you are able to travel.

I had a very nice long weekend. I took off Friday as a vacation day. I was able to get all of my shopping done and food prep for Saturday when everyone was coming over. I spent the night at my son's and then brought Rhea to our house early Saturday morning. her mom and dad came over later for dinner (ribs, burgers, sausage and salads). We had a storm blow in while we were in the pool and then lightning so we all got out. The kids and Rhea stayed the night and we had more time with Rhea Sunday morning (though she's in the terrible 2 stage right now so there were a couple of challenges that Daddy was dealing with her - so tough not to jump in, but he handled her). We had lunch and then they left to go home. We didn't do any fireworks due to the weather (it dumped hard and fast both on the 3rd and on the 4th). We had a great, yet exhausting time with Rhea.

Thursday evening I struggled to get a mile on the TM. However, I was successful at getting my butt onto the treadmill yesterday morning. It took me over an hour to do 3.1 miles (I did have a couple of interruptions). But I got it done. And with the storms we had it raised our dry 10% humidity to 50%+. I know you ladies live with that usually, but dang it was rough and yucky! Once I got done with my 5k, I pretty much vegged on the couch. I did get the laundry finished and some other small chores in between, but pretty much just watched Downton Abbey all blessed day - and I have no regrets. I felt rested at the end of the day. Between having Rhea all day Saturday and Sunday morning and the my 5k and the weather, I was super tuckered out. I'm working on pushing through the walking and inclines with the Peloton apps so it's not getting easier, but I am doing more inclines and speed walking.

Kelly - happy belated birthday to your Mama!

    Sheesh are ya back yet?

    Hey Ladies,

Quick check in, as today has been stupid busy at work, even though I'm working from home. I'll be going into the office tomorrow and Thursday.
I seem to be having some back problems lately but I'm not sure why. It's my mid back, which I haven't had problems with in the past. It has always been my lower back but that seems to be fine. Because of the back problems, I'm having troubles sleeping and staying asleep, so I'm super tired, which means my exercise isn't that great. I did manage to do some weights yesterday though. I might need to hop in the hot tub tonight.
We're heading to a cabin July 11-18, so I won't be posting during that time as there is almost no cell service there and no internet. Sometimes we get 1 or 2 bars, but it's rare. It's definitely a good getaway that our family looks forward to every year.
My eating has still been very good and I have been making good decisions, although my weight was still up from last week when I weighed this morning. We'll see what tomorrow has to bring. Shawn and I had a "cheat meal" on Saturday night for my Mom's birthday. We ordered Chinese food but I made a salad and made sure it was half my plate. I also didn't have dessert, but I was full so I didn't miss it.

Sarah - I hope your Bella is doing better and won't need xrays. <3

Lois - Sounds like you found your motivation! I feel the positive vibes while reading your posts. :)

I'll check back tomorrow or Thursday. I hope you're all well.
