Happy Friday, everyone!
Many of us have learned new things on our weight loss/accountability journeys. And, one of the best things about UAC is how much we learn from one another.
Whether it is additional knowledge about nutrition, or discovering a new activity, take some time to appreciate what you have learned and how you have grown. Feel free to share something you did not expect to learn, but no pressure, it is Friday.

I honestly didnt expect to learn so much on this journey but thanks to uac i hve had a total shift in mindset. I no longer see this as a diet, i no longer cut out food groups, overeat then deprive myself, I no longer eat to soothe stress, I also no longer starve myself all day or skip meals only to come home & eat the whole pantry at night!! Ha ha. I now eat foods i love but just in moderation, i reward myself with massages instead of food, I give myself permission to hve a treat at night and eat a yummy meal out at a restaurant instead of just ordering a salad. I set small achievable goals 4 myself so its not too overwhelming. I hve strategies in place so i dnt over eat, binge, graze & impulse eat. I hve learnt all of this from UAC so thank u guys...xox15

Perfectly stated. Except for the massages, you “took the words right out of my mouth.”9 -

What did I not expect to learn from UAC challenges?
I think I learned that the 3 basic tenets here REALLY work together to make us accountable to ourselves. When I had to go back into the office Mid June (for 6 weeks until Delta hit Tx) I thought I would take a break from this. But I did miss the daily threads. I enjoy keeping up with everyone and now if Calvin would PLEASE share a vacation photo from Hawaii that would be the best!8 -

My journey and knowledge gained has involved MFP in so many ways since 2014. Be it the nutritional tracking features, or so much knowledge I learned in the forums/groups, or the challenges that motivated me to hit certain goals, etc. I have found various levels of success in those years, some more successful than others. But MFP was always in the middle of it in many ways.
When I started back up again this year I noticed that my best results were always when I was closely tracking my diet (MFP diary), regularly exercising (participating in the challenges), and socializing with other health/fitness oriented people (helps to keep you going), and doing all of those regularly. It's a good, healthy blend.
This year I was searching the monthly challenges in the MFP forums and saw @SummerSkier had posted in the announcement thread for the May UAC group. I recognized her from the running challenge thread, and she had the audacity to claim that it was "the best challenge on MFP"! I was stunned! How could it be better than the running challenge group??? So I absolutely had to check out what this UAC thing was all about!
I quickly found how nicely the UAC pieced all of those important things together, in a single group, in a challenge format, with the 3 basic goals required to keep it all on track. Without it I have to try and manage myself in all those various formats, which can seem overwhelming at times and is probably why sometimes I would lose interest in one of those aspects to focus on others. With UAC though, it's all done right here, daily, in a simple, single post.
So in a way, for me, UAC let's me be a bit lazy and depend on this group to hold it all together for me as opposed to having to rely on myself keeping it all together in some loose, less organized fashion.
Thanks UAC!11 -
pass day - 6th for the month so far8

I learned you do not get to stop logging when you hit maintenance. Logging is for life, even on the pass days.
Pass day #5. Kiddo is on the mend, but my nerves are fried, I am sleep deprived, and there was cheesecake. Still under maintenance calls so could have been worse. Tomorrow I’m going to find somewhere isolated and go for a run. I need to get my head back on straight.
Trip to museum of natural history has been rescheduled for the last days of the month, a week after Kiddo’s isolation ends. A week seems like a good buffer and he seems in better spirits now that it’s back on the calendar.
Is it September yet? 🥴😷🥱😵💫13 -

I learned that no matter how hard you try some days are not in your favor but with that said there is always tomorrow and I will try harder again. One of three pass days.
I have also learned that works for one person does not always work for everyone make adjustments according to your plan.

I have learned that although I have never participated in any type of support/accountability group in the past, this may just be the tool that will help me break the yoyo cycle.

3x yes!!! Even with my mom here and my son graduating the federal portion of his State transportation Police. I am learning how not to celebrate with food! Spending time together is better.

@donna25trinity Thanks for sharing how much the UAC has changed your thinking!! It’s glorious when we can learn how to change our habits and then to apply what we have learned. I salute you!

I've learned that I almost have to treat this pursuit as a hobby.. logging onto here is just something I make time for in the day and being engaged engaged the community is a bit part of keeping me on track. Accountability and check-ins motivate me!8 -
No, Yes, No
And I thought I made some healthy choices. Ah well.
What have I learned? Never give up. I'm off to bed early tonight. I am drifting off. And maybe it will be easier to get up in the morning. Not sure if I'm going to ride or run. I think run. I might start out with a group who will run 10-15 miles in the time it will likely take me to do 5 (if I get that far, but it will be nice to see some of them again). Then ride on Sunday.6 -
