Happy Wednesday!
Actually, it was my mom who loved a good jelly donut. My favorite has always been Tim Horton’s Sour Cream Glazed TimBits. I remember the day when I looked up the calories for a single TimBit and my jaw dropped. I always remember that day as the ‘Loss of Innocence’ in regard to food. How could such a small donut hole (aka TimBit) have so many calories?!!! It showed me how important it was to know the calorie and nutritional content of the foods that I eat. At this point, I know the nutritional value of the foods that I eat on a regular basis but I am always careful to look up something new and not assume.
Do you have a comparable moment in your life where you experienced a ‘Loss of Innocence’ in regard to a food?13 -
11th
Yes yes and yes hubby still off work so we had a sensational day out. Bannana bread, steak sandwich and waffles. Poor choices but loved every second of it, still under and lots of walking to make up for the fun food. Xo13 -
Hot chips and potato chips was a shock for me calories wise. Xo6

great opening @znaoiec My loss of innocence was early on in 2017 when I realized some of the packaged items were MORE THAN 1 SERVING per package!!!!!!!! OH MY..10

I recall Oreos being a tough one but at this point I have moved on and have not really cared about Oreos for a few years now. They can even be in the house for the wife and kids and I'm not tempted to have any. Last year I tried some a couple different times and it just wasn't special or magical like it used to be. Some sort of weird voodoo magic in those things that I managed to break the spell.
The most lasting one is definitely peanut butter. I still like peanut butter and am tempted to try and make it fit my macros from time to time (never works to my satisfaction though).8 -
3xyes
Epic ab & core
We have been pretty busy with the arrangements for our move. Screening moving companies and searching for painters for cosmetic repair in our current home. I think I have a wrong profession. I should have become a painter. They are soooo expensive 😩 But now we have both. I am driving for apartment handover on August 31. And a big move is scheduled for October 7 with unloading at new 🏠 next day. 😊11 -

Yes x3 run for exercise. I'm now 3 weeks into couch to 5k. I've done it previously (several times) and so I know it works. Looking forward to being someone who can run for half an hour solidly again.
Nice to be back on track.
I remember when I first downloaded mfp ages ago and I started tracking and I was really surprised by how many calories I was eating. My husband often says things are "not worth the calories" and it's a metric I've started using. Sweet and salty popcorn is a favourite of mine so I'll happily fit it in. It's worth the calories. I'm not a big fan of Mars bars though so can't imagine myself eating one again. Not worth the calories.10 -

Exercise – yes, bike ride 30+ minutes, plus light cardio (ribs still sore)
Tracking – yes
Calories – yes
I have been calorie counting for so long (using books before the internet was a thing) that I cannot remember any particular “loss of innocence” moment but I do remember realising that fat was the biggest calorie contributor. When I was young it was all about avoiding carbs and sugar and I would have one piece of toast but drenched in butter! Now I would probably have two pieces of toast with a minimal scrape of butter for less calories.
I’m constantly amazed at the calorie count on ready meals (unless you buy the designated low calorie ones). As a small woman most ready meals (and restaurant meals) are much too high in calories for me. My maintenance calories are only about 1,500 a day even with moderate activity.

Loss of Innocence?
When I started tracking food on MFP. I was eating healthy food but just far too much of it.8 -
August 11
Yes to all questions.
Pass days: 0
Calories to burn: 35,420. Yesterday: 43,120. Did lots of walking, over 17k steps, to compensate for the previous two days.
One of the food that shocked me was lamb's meat, it was something like 400 calories for 100 grams, that's if I'm not mistaken. That day was the last time I ate lamb's meat.
Goodnight 💜💛.8 -
Wednesday 11th August;
Exercise: 30 minutes walk ✅
Tracked calories: yes ✅
Stayed under calorie goal: ✅
Loss of innocence: Mainly takeaway foods. And I've always tried to do 'don't drink your calories' apart from wine of course Worse for me is when the calories wasn't worth it! Wish you could get a refund on those kind of foods but you live and learn as you go!.
Today's win: I woke up this morning to the pouring rain which would normally put me off my morning walk and enough to make an excuse not to do it. But I made the decision that it's only water and walked anyway (thanks to this challenge of having to get my exercise in). Suffice to say, I got absolutely soaking wet .. but did it feel good .. hell yeah!
And what's even better is ... now I can NEVER use that excuse again!!!

Tracked logged stayed under did a short walk this evening humidity awful did some flexibility work.
My loss of innocence still surprises me when I look at the calorie count of a good micro brew beer OMG but every now and then we’ll we all need a treat 🍺😊8 -
@Healthymumlife I’m so impressed you took a walk in the rain! What a great mindset!4

@Winner_in_Life You have a lot going on these days with your big move!2

My loss of innocence was finding out the serving size of ice cream! Half a cup? Who eats half a cup? I used to eat that much just scooping it out! Now I just buy the individual mini cups because I still have no control with an ice cream scoop!

Calories: Yes and I did better today getting my calorie count up by being intentional.
Exercise: Ugh it is soooo hot and humid, but I got out there tonight and knocked out a 28 minute/2 mile walk so I wouldn't have to take a pass!10 -
Lost some weight in my late 20's and since then I've been very cognizant of what I eat. I can't honestly remember anything in particular that shocked me but the whole experience was enlightening.
Yes x 3 today. Starting to feel more in control even though today I struggled a bit with not feeling full and wanting to nibble. I ended up making a microwave popcorn bag. Usually I would add butter and freshly grated parmesan cheese (one of the reasons I rarely allow myself to buy it - no self control with it), but I ate it plain. Then I had supper an hour early and closed the kitchen for the night. I had to swim to bring myself under calories but I did it. And another win: as I type this, my arms are sore due to my arm workout today (yay!). Ending the night feeling good. I just wish it was August 3rd today and not the 11th lol.8 -
@bradkcrew Well done on getting out there in the heat and humidity to get a walk in! Hope you’re staying really hydrated!
@Jana_2020 Great job today staying in control! Having supper an hour early and then closing the kitchen was a good idea!
I often make our salads early and then eat mine as a late afternoon snack/appetizer before I even make dinner. Every little bit helps.7 -
@znaoiec Wow, how funny that you would mention "TimBits." I was watching a tv show based in Canada two nights ago and they referenced TimBits. I got the gist that it was a food but had no idea what it was!
Really weird how that seems to happen. So many times I will hear some obscure vocabulary word that I swear I have never heard before, and then suddenly I hear that word again.6 -
Posted this on the 10th by accident.
Reposting on the right day......
Today is closing as a good day, finally!:)Three yes and only 6 PM. Tracking good, calories good, and all my rings were closed by 5:30 PM.
Managed to completely gut by daughter's bedroom today. A full day task, that honestly I thought would take longer. I now have three rooms ready for the real estate. Many still to go, but seeing any success is motivating, whether that is in packing/cleaning, or losing weight and improving health.
Have a good night all!5 -

Have you tried the Orville Redenbacher smartpop! 100 calorie kettle corn? It is pretty subtle at first but it grew on me. Only 1.5 grams of fat and no oily/sweet/salty residue in the bag to tempt me to to lick it clean.

I’m not sure that I would call it a loss of innocence since I was raised to eat everything that was put in front of me and waste nothing. That led to a habit of overeating.
Today, I am 36 lbs less than my highest weight.
Last week I was at a family reunion with an infinite amount of comfort food. Nonetheless, I am one pound less this week.
Today was a 3 yes day.12 -

Walked 4 miles, 30ish min yoga.
Pass days remaining: 2
Actually did yoga in the bedroom I cleaned and rearranged four days ago to facilitate before bed yoga every night (per docs recommendation for anxiety). Baby steps. Lol.
