How do you know if you are skinny fat?

How do you know if you are skinny fat?

I don’t feel skinny or fat.
I definitely have some fat, especially in my belly and butt.

These are my stats:
Female
53 years old
5’5”
130 lbs
Waist at narrowest part 27”
Waist at navel 31”
Hips 38”
Thigh 22”
Biceps 11”
Forearm 9”
Wrist 6”

So, am I skinny fat?

My understanding of skinny-fat generally means you don't have enough muscle, and the percentage of your weight from fat is too high. That's the definition that I got from the registered dietician I heard use the term. So, in your case, your Ideal Body Weight is (using the formula I got from the RD: 100lbs for the first 5' of height, then add 5lbs for each inch after that) 125lbs. So being 5lbs over your ideal doesn't sound like skinny-fat to me, but I'd need you to measure your neck for me to calculate your body fat; fat percentage in the 20s is really fit to average (low to high), and in the 30s is considered obese.

Using the Navy Method, you're on the low end of average, just shy of being considered fit, with 25.7% body fat. So not skinnyfat! You're at a great place for maintenance :)
