Hello I am Lori 57F 5’5” 160 lbs. I have been on keto for about 5 months, losing slowly. I have stalled and am interested in IF for fat/weight loss. Overweight with abdominal fat. I am type 2 diabetic and am asking my dr if 16:8 is safe for me. I am in metformin and have not had hypoglycemic episodes. I am easing into it, did 14 hr fasts the past 2 nights. My sw at mfp was 195lbs before keto 175 cw 160 gw 145ish (normal BMI)

Hi, I am 6'3" and 260 Lb (was 305). I am reasonably active - Triathlete, Cyclist, Peloton (bike and Tread) and Tonal weight machine.
For years I could not understand why I was not losing weight (or even putting it on) when I was training like a mad man (I am 53), several friends (who are in the medical profession) suggested IF and Dr Fungs books. I now regularly IF without even thinking about it - stopping eating between 8-10 pm and not eating again until 12-3, skipping breakfast is easy (obviously actually Breaking Fast in the 12-3 window :-) )
still my biggest challenge is snacking - especially in the evening when the TV is on, but the wife and I have agreed that the best way to combat this is to not have chips etc in the house :-)
Looking forward to discussing progress - not too bothered about discussing all of the science - Dr Fung does a great job of that, I love the 2 fat stores analogy (refrigerator in the Kitchen v Freezer in the basement )1 -
Nice to meet you @KDD23 I am pretty sedentary. Your athleticism is inspiring. I am used to grazing and late night snacks. I am trying to condense it into 2-3 meals. That was smart to keep snacks out. I finish dinner around 6:30 pm. I have coffee in the morning and my first meal after 10:30. I never was a big breakfast person so getting through the morning is fine. I just started IF. I have about 15 lbs to normal BMI but I still have a lot of abdominal fat I want to lose. Sw 195. Started keto in Feb 175 CW 160
My weightloss has stalled recently. Hoping IF along with keto will help.0 -
Hey KDD23,
Good job on the weight loss so far! I have to say that late night snacking is a bit of an issue for me as well. I can normally avoid it when I'm on my regular 16/8 schedule however, I find it difficult not to do after coming off of a fast or after a heavy workout session where I just feel famished even after eating a big dinner. I just switch my eating window if I have a late night snack. Like last night. I had a snack at 1:30am so I can't eat until 5:30pm which would make today an OMAD day or if I want a fasting day and I'll just eat tomorrow.
As of this morning I am 254lbs even. 4lbs short of my 250 goal but having a 16lb weight loss in 1 month is not shabby at all. What's better is that after refeeding I only go up 2lbs. So I ended my fast at 252.4 and now I'm 254 even. So I'm very happy with the results.1
