So we can about 4 waves of severe storms come through my area of Michigan. Luckily we kept power the entire time but one of our birch trees decided to have a major trunk come down. We dodged a huge bullet as it fell away from the power lines the tree sits next to. So yesterday, between the waves of storms, we had the chance to clear it out. 1 hour later our small 6' foot trailer was full and I had an excellent unplanned workout.

@Deeder522 Oh my gosh!! I am so glad your tree came down away from the power lines, but I so hate losing a birch. They are so pretty. I read on ABC12 that the Genessee area was also hard hit and some trees came down on houses as well as power lines. One of our old neighbors said several trees in the subdivision came down, but thankfully no one was hurt. The lost power for a few hours though. I am glad you are OK and got some wood out of the deal as well as exercise!! LOL

@zichab July very well could have been the last period of adjustment to your retirement. Remember that besides retiring you also made a major move to where you live now. All that factored into the adjustment period also, and let's not forget Covid had its own impact, however it played out for you. I'm glad that you feel like you turned the corner and want to do all sorts of things now ๐Ÿ‘!!
You are totally working your goal ๐Ÿคธโ€โ™€๏ธ!

@Deeder522 Ah, yes, birch trees are beautiful. We don't have them here of course, but I have had opportunity to see them in the past. I'm glad that you kept your power, and like @zichab wrote, "you are OK and got some wood out of the deal as well as exercise!!". That was a good workout I can imagine. I'm guessing Apple Watch was happy ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ˜… !

My goal for this month will once again be to just to keep moving as much as possible by using the rebounder & the Gazelle, walking indoors, or in the yard/garden ๐ŸŒž ๐ŸŒท ๐Ÿ› if I can get out there in the early morning ๐Ÿ˜…. July was such an all around struggle, so I'm also hoping for a better August.

    August 1: Rest Day
August 2: 40 minutes: inside walking
August 3: 60 minutes: gazelle, inside walking
    August 4: 2.5 hours errands/ grocery shopping
August 5: 45 minutes: gazelle, inside walking
    August 6: Rest Day
    August 7: Rest Day

    August 8: Rest Day
August 9: 60 minutes: gazelle, rebounder, inside walking,
August 10: 35 minutes: inside walking
August 11: 85 minutes: gazelle, rebounder, inside walking, garden, strength
    August 12: 2.5 hours errands/ grocery shopping
August 13: 55 minutes: gazelle, rebounder, inside walking. strength

@texasgardnr You know, I did not think about the adjustment for the move as well as retiring. Because I was coming home to NY and have lived in this house off and on since 1993, I assumed the move was not a big deal. However, there are a lot of stresses associated with not knowing where things are in the house and then needing to get things set up for MDs, dentists, periodontists etc. Because we are remodeling as well, we still have many boxes that are unpacked and we are continually looking for something that is, no doubt, in one of the boxes if it would only call to us and say where it is! It is likely that the move played a larger role in my lethargy than I thought. Thanks for reminding me!

@zichab - Oh Ann, I am so glad!!! We are all so focused on COVID that we forget the other stuff that is going around. The VA called to day and asked Dennis is he wanted his flu shot this year. We were like "Flu? How would I get that in the middle of the woods with a mask on?" LOL Flu seems so harmless considering what we are all dealing with.

LOL about the call about the flu shot.

@texasgardnr - Yes! those northeastern summers are quite amazing (I'm from Pennsylvania)! Glad to read that the MRSA is clearing up. And it is very painful from what others have told me, virtual {{hugs}}.
Yes, when things happen we certainly lose ground much faster than it takes to gain it in the first place, and then definitely takes a while to get it back again. I like your goal ๐Ÿ‘Œ. And It seems to be working for you also!! That is awesome news that you are feeling better and this MRSA seems to be pretty much behind you from the sounds of it ๐Ÿ’.
Thanks, Mary! I see you are walking strong this month with some long workouts. You Go, Girl!

@Deeder522 - so glad you are OK and nothing was badly damaged in that storm. That birch tree went the right way when it went down!

Well, at first I didn't realize what was going on, just seemed that my underarm hurt a little so I just kept going. Of course, that changed. I had to keep my right hand on my hip. It was the only way to keep it from hurting. Looked funny, but hey, no one was watching. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I don't see any whining going on, Girl. I see lot's of miles being laid down and lot's of firming going on! You got this, Brenda. ๐Ÿ†

@Deeder522 I loved it when I had a work space and workout space combined! We are recreating that set up here because it worked so well in our MI house. It reminded me that sitting at the computer for too long was not good for me. You will love it!

@AnnofB I am committed to this! I am amazed at how fast my muscles are responding though. I have been struggling with the abdominal part of the workout, but tonight, I did every single exercise including those ab twists. It's only been two weeks! The human body is a thing of wonder!

    Happy August everyone.

Last summer was so healthy for me. I was outside for so many miles a day in the sunshine most days.

My new job is still going well but it made it so the rest of my life is very out of balance. After all the upheaval this summer a few things may be true for the rest of the year- we may not relocate as I may be able to do significant portion of my week remotely which means less stress for everyone if we aren't moving and I am almost finished with my second job, as I have just a few shifts left on the floor then retain my position benefits there for awhile as security (worth it but this summer just about killed me working both jobs).

My friends and family have missed me. I really don't think anyone but my husband actually believes I've worked every day but a handful this summer- even my coworkers. It's just hard for people to conceptualize but it's taken everything out of me. And I can tell by how tired I am, how many pounds I've gained, and how completely empty I feel. My goal for August is survival and my goal for September is to switch back into thrive mode. In the weeks ahead I'm hopeful that I can get myself to walk a few miles every morning, even with a long drive ahead of me, just 30 minutes a day can really get me into a better space. I'm also hopeful that I can continue to eat a little healthier and slowly cut back on the booze. It's been fun this summer to decompress with beer and wine whenever I'm home or when DH is with me and we're "out" at my new space but I know it's not healthy for me to drink often and physically it just takes its toll on the body too. Finally, I want to move back towards a balance of having downtime where I do more than just watch tv- read, walk, be social.

Enjoy the rest of your summer. I can't promise I'll be back much this month but I'm going to try to be in everyday of September!

Migraines are the scourge of mankind!!!! :weary: This one totally messed with my plan and I am going to go 3 days longer just to thwart it!!!! :naughty: It has been a while since I had one so I probably should not complain too much, but ... well ... it hurt and messed with my life!!!!

@mypinkbikini Hang in there as this too shall pass. We'll be here for you even if you just need to vent a bit! Wine and beer can sneak up on you, especially when you have no other down time. Working everyday is totally draining so be kind to yourself. Hugs to you!

@zichab It doesn't matter how long since your last migraine, THIS is the one that counts for now. So complaining is allowed ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’. And when it passes and you feel up to it, just resume your plan as if nothing interfered. It will be all good.
    Hugs to you ๐ŸŒผ

@texasgardnr & @AnnofB Thank you both so much for being so sweet. I was so annoyed, but my DH read on our neighborhood community page that several people had migraines between the 17th and 18th and noted the extreme low pressure over our area from Hurricane Fred. The headache came on in the late afternoon of the 17th and finally "went away" late the next day. Once I slept, I was fine on the 19th and even the "shadow" headache was gone, so it might have been weather related. This northern girl is not equipped for hurricane weather I guess! Thankfully, it did not set me back any as I did my full Firm 30 so no harm done. Thank you both for being so supportive and hopefully Hurricane Henri will stay on Long Island and not swerve toward me!!!! :naughty:

    Walk Strong Everyone!!!
