Ugh, it was a tough day getting everything in....as it stands I still didn't get to 1,200 calories (but got close). I am not use to eating so much protein and am feeling really bloated and yucky tonight. I FEEL like I gained 10 pounds (but ain't gettin close to that scale). STILL feeling like I have no energy....tried to increase my hummus intake (I don't eat "beans" so to speak) but really, how much hummus can someone eat...hoping to feel better tomorrow....night everyone.

  • What kind of protein are you eating? I know you are getting all your veggies in. It may just take a day or so to get things moving.
ETA: Eight glasses of water? Yes?

    10 glasses of water......
Protein = boneless skinless chicken, cottage cheese, ricotta, eggs, cheese.
Veggies, lots of raw cut veggies, salad, cabbage, broccoli, snow peas....

Woke up this morning completely NOT hungry, not one single bit. I don't care if I eat at all today.....I guess the diet is working as I don't have any cravings at all since about day 3...I'm grateful for that part.

Good Morning...glad the cravings are gone...but do be sure eat...way good on the water. Just watch the cheese servings in one day...not more than two...they could be causing the "blockage".

Once all the processed food aka crap is out of our bodies...we start to feel what feeling great is all about.

I am on day 10 and I am even controlling my peanut butter addiction. That is huge. One serving a day...they are alredy measured (natural peanut butter with salt only from trader joes) in little two ounce cups with lids from smart and final. I am totally in a zone here.

Nothing is going to get me off track.

Thanks Nanc....feeling much better today with the added dairy. Surprising how much that helped!

Oh wonderful...that is super news. Tomorrow is my day 13...really excited about Sunday. And you will be following me soon enough. Was going to have an apple...but think I will be making frozen peach yogurt. And that will be my dessert. Oh yeah!

I'm almost afraid to hit that Phase 1.5 !! I know I have to add back some fruit and whole grains but I fear a gain...at this point it would kill me! :noway:

This is your first time doing South Beach?

My fist time back in June of 08...I was completely in a zone (kinda like I am right now)...and I trusted the program...completely. And it worked. And it will work for you, too.

Do plan ahead as to what fruit and starch you will be adding. The advice by the pros is to use small fruit...do not buy the biggest apples out there...kinda the size that comes in the bags is adviseable. And watch the portions of whatever starch you choose.

Food scale is on my kitchen counter at all time. I am not good at eyeballing. I measure what needs to be measured. If I choose to have brown rice, I measure it.

Have faith. This is going to work for you. For me, too! :drinker:

    Hummus is good.
A bit of peanut butter, or some nuts would quickly get your calories up.

While I eat "clean" (a seemingly bad word on the main boards), one of my FAVORITE low glycemic desserts is: sugar free chocolate pudding in the cup, with a teaspoon/tablespoon of peanutbutter.

I also love: peanutbutter, plain yogurt and stevia sweetened maple syrup. Yum. Yum. Yum.

    You can do this!

You MAY see the scale go up. TEMPORARILY. Carbs (grains especially) cause water retention. If the scale goes up just tell yourself: it's not fat, it's just water. Drink more water when you transition to phase 2, and start slowly.

Thanks for the suggestions Sabine and Nanc. I'm down another pound today...still loving the results.

Sabine, yes, this is the first time I've done South Beach, Lord knows I've tried everything else. I have to admit that I am really motivated by the loss so far. I lost a lot of weight on Weight Watchers once but gained 1/2 of it back the minute I stopped counting points and logging every bite I took. It got OLD FAST so to speak. I know that after reading the SB book that this is something I can do for the rest of my life. I'll not always have to track everything......it works and I'm happy about that.

I must truly have my head on straight this time...I have been on P1 14 days today and have not had to throw out one jar of peanut butter. Usually I go over board...and it calls out my name to go get more and more until I have to just toss it or I would eat the whole darn thing.

    NOT THIS TIME!

I portioned it out...using the food scale...gram weight into little cups with lids.. one serving a day....now, when I get stalled and need to look for places to cut back...PB will be one of them.
