Gramercy Goes (Mostly) OMAD

Hi All -- I introduced myself in the intro thread above and thought I'd go ahead and start a thread. *Waves from Belgium* I started at 76 kg/167.5 lbs just before I left on vacation at the end of July, and today am at 71.3/157. My first goal is 65kg/143.3 lbs, which will bring me within a normal BMI (I am 5'4"). Ultimately I would like to get to 61kg/135, which is where I have felt best in the past, and where all of my work suits will fit properly again.

I gained weight pre-COVID, but I gained more during COVID. On the one hand, working from home allowed a ton of grazing and mindless snacking and eating because of its availability. On the other hand, having now committed to alternating OMAD/6h window, it also makes things easier because there aren't any colleagues around to have lunch or coffee snacks or whatever with. There's no one to explain or justify anything to -- I just do my thing.

My meal is at night because I am done with work for the day and can relax and enjoy it with my husband. I am realizing also how much my desire to eat is distorted by prior habits. I am hungry in the 10am-12pm range because I always reeeeeeally used to look forward during that period to taking a lunch break! Now I am not doing it, but I try to take my dog for a walk shortly after noon each day and either call a friend or listen to a podcast so I still feel like I am having a break and getting away from my desk.

So happy you decided to start a thread!!! Really helps motivate because you have folks to celebrate with you :)

I eat RIGHT at the end of the day for the same reason - I can relax, focus on it, and I prefer to go to bed with a full stomach (when I'm not full fasting of course).

Welcome and let us know how we can help!!!

Progress is slow but mostly going in the right direction, which feels really good.

    26 July: 75.3 kg/166 lbs
    31 August: 72.8/160.5
    6 Sept.: 72.4/159.6
    13 Sept.: 71.3/157.2
    20 Sept: 70.6/155.6

However I am now trying to not get all up in my own head as I am finally back down to what was previously my highest "set point." It will give me a real psychological boost to see downward progress from this point.

I had my first business trip this last week and most days I really didn't feel I could just not have lunch so I had soup and it worked out OK. I am at 69.5kg/153 lbs right now and am feeling really good that the trip did not derail things too much. I have several more coming up over the next two months, so it will be a challenge but I feel up for it.

I am trying to work out what works best for me and right now it seems I eating something very low calorie around 2-3pm and then having my big meal at dinner works best. I can't yet seem to kick the 2-3pm part, but since I am continuing to lose slowly, maybe that's OK. I am still trying to have a longer fasting window by eating only within a 6-8 hour window.

Go slow and find what works for you. Moreover, you are still losi g weight and that what counts ❤️

Have been traveling again for work and have a lot more lined up for end of this month/into next, so I was a little wary about how that might go -- conference rooms with a ton of snacks in them + lunch + dinner isn't really the friendliest set of circumstances in this situation, but I just tried to hold the line and have no snacks, very minimal lunch, and not go wild at dinner. I usually work out most days at home too and didn't even make a pretense this time of bringing exercise clothes with me because I knew perfectly well I wasn't going to use them.

Got home last night and saw 66.8 on the scale this morning! That's about 1.2 kg lower than last week, so I am thrilled.

    9 Oct: 68.3/150.6
    14 Oct: 66.8/147.3

Also feeling hopeful I can hold it together for the work/travel slog coming soon.

Slowly inching the scale down a bit more -- getting close to falling within the normal BMI range, which would be amazing. A ton of business travel looming -- I have to just hope I've made my habits habits-like enough to keep on.

You can do it, just think about the progress you've made and see yourself where you want to be and when the temptations come, just question, will this choice help me or hinder me in getting to my goal.

    Hi All --

I am back from a business trip where I was 3 weeks away, no exercise, all meals delivered or eaten in a restaurant, snacks in the workroom etc etc etc and I am up only to 66.2kg (I was at 65.8 before I left -- this is about a 1lb difference) so I take this as a major, major victory and am thrilled to finally be home and back to my normal routine. Would love to get back down a bit this week!

It has been pretty up and down since I have been back in my routine -- I am struggling a little against the desire to snack, but I have been doing better in the last few days. Progress has obviously slowed waaaaaaay down, but that's OK as long as I keep heading in this direction a bit. I am feeling really good.

See how effective it is to weigh once a week??
