Down a little and I'm grateful. Kelly, this new walking buddy is someone that I don't think I'll be good friends with like I am with Toni, but it's still nice to have someone to walk with. The person who has been stalking her is the son of a former coworker who apparently she dated once a few years back. It's a very convoluted story and one that is hard for me to wrap my head around, so I can't even try to explain it someone else. But yes, she said she has reported it to the police and they've responded a couple of times when she spotted him parked in her neighborhood. Like I said, there are twists to this story that just make me shake my head, but I do park on the exact opposite side of the mall that she does.

As I mentioned yesterday, I have gotten my 7-day step average above 10K again and I did better with intake too, but my doctor's visit from yesterday may throw a monkey wrench into what I do this coming week. One of the antibiotics that the doc put me on is Cipro and serious side effects from this drug includes tendonitis. The flyer from the pharmacy says that exercise/physical activity increases the risk of that, so I've sent an email to my doc to ask if that means I should forego my daily 4 mile walks or if it means vigorous or new activity. I am still waiting to hear back. When I got the list of possible side effects, I called back and asked if they could use another drug, but the doc who took the call said that Cipro with metronidazole is the preferred way to treat diverticulitis and considering that I've been walking around with a tender belly for a few days, they really want me to try to use it rather than another. I hate drugs of any kind, so it's good that thus far in my life I've not had to take many. I can't remember the last time I had an oral antibiotic. It has been years. But I guess "as we age" (don't you hate that term?), things are going to happen. Hubby has been treated for diverticulitis a number of times, and thus far has had no long-term side effects from the Cipro. He says I'm just over-worrying again. I am also having to amend my diet somewhat for the week. I'm supposed to avoid red meat, spicy food, raw vegetables, etc. That's kind of funny because in the week between the pain/fever and doctor's appointment, I ate all of that!

I will be back later to see how all of you are doing and post some goals.

WHOAH!!! This is going to be a hard one to keep going. But WOW!! I think it was only because I ate lunch at 4 and didn't eat the rest of the day. So, something to think about. I truly have been making better choices as well. Not as much snacking - and again, I think the fresh fruit has been helpful.

Sarah - I'm with Kelly - please be careful. And watch who may be around. Maybe ask her for a pic of the person so you are aware. Because you park on the other side, doesn't mean they won't follow you out that way. At least then you know what he looks like - just in case. And I'm with your hubby, one cycle of the Cipro probably won't have those long issues. I've had Cipro with no issues as well. Take the rx and feel better! Keep up with regular exercises and walks. Don't overdo yourself with everything you have going on.

Kelly, your busy schedule sounds great...I had previously thought about changing may in office schedule to be back to back, but I think the Tues/Thurs is actually best. Traffic has increased and it's HORRIBLE!! UGH. So much so, that I may not always go in on Thursdays. Tuesdays are perfect days to get what I need done, but Thursdays can be heavy paperwork processing days and I am not interrupted at home near as much as at the office.

Sheesh - can't wait to hear the udpates from the shower and family time.

I have the Van Gogh Immersion experience this Friday and I'm super duper excited! I can't wait. The last of the Disney trip shirts came in, sanitizer and cooler back. OMG So. Much. Disney. Just over two weeks away. Super fun and excited.

Considering the shower and meals for out of town daughter, DIL, and SIL who came over on Sunday . . . I'll take that small reduction. I had my trainer Monday, and again tomorrow, so I'll be glad to report improvement in spite of being so busy.

The shower was a big success! We had really good attendance (only one invitee couldn't come) and daughter was so happy to see friends again in person. My Oregon daughter flew in on Friday morning and really helped me a lot with getting the decorations up. Then, back to the airport that night to pick up DIL from Cali. She had ordered a decoration that needed assembly, and even though daughter and I had started it, we were all up till 1 am putting it together, lol. The shower was at noon, and we had a nice brunch buffet, a game to guess a lot of details about the baby (winner TBD), wrote funny messages on diapers for daughter (or SIL) to find when changing baby, and painted white onesies. I was amazed at the artistic talent among the women! Pregnant daughter stayed at my house that night, so we all had a girls sleepover. (Hubby is in Alaska on his fishing trip.) SIL came over Sunday for dinner and we all watched football, then loaded up the gifts in his truck and her car, and off they went.

I've been so busy with hubby gone! I finally got together with my friends, and today I had 3 online playdates with grands, and then Family Zoom tonight. (I think the kids worry about me needlessly, ha ha).

Sarah, I'm glad you're getting an antibiotic for your belly pain. . it has to be taken care of. An infection in your digestive tract is very serious, as you know. You don't want it to get into your circulatory system. It's worth foregoing your walks if you have to for a while. I hope the doc gets back to you soon about that. I'm not too sure about the friend with a stalker . . maybe you two could walk in a more open and public space to stay safe ? And, congratulations on the reduction.

Lois, great reduction! I definitely think that not eating at night is a good thing. I try to stop eating by 7 or 8 pm . . it didn't happen tonight, but I try most nights. I can't believe that Disneyland is already only 2 weeks away . . How fun!

Kelly, a flexible work week would have been great when I was working. I was always stuck at the office or on a job site. You're very lucky. Aren't you glad you got the job you were going for back when you had to be away for so long on the site?

It's late here now, and I'm off to bed. I'll check back tomorrow.

Good morning, all. So nice to log in and read the posts. Sheesh, the weekend sounds so fun and what a good idea to paint the onesies. Your remark about the family wanting to see you on zoom made laugh. It's like, "Here I am. Still alive!"

Thanks Lois, for sharing that you've taken Cipro with no bad after effects. Makes me feel better. The hardest thing for me now is timing these meds because CVS took so long to fill the script. My tummy is a little more tender today, however, two days after starting them, so I think I'm going to switch to a bland soft diet for a couple of days. Yuck!

The doc did get back to me and said walking is okay, but no jogging or sprinting (!) and to be careful with sudden stops and starts. So I walked last night with my alternate buddy who walks much slower than Toni. (Toni is working on a family union this week and can't walk.)

Regarding her stalker, there's something odd about this story and I don't think she has seen him in quite a while. But even so, I still like that we don't go out together.

My goal for this week is to get well and to survive hubby's epoxying of the garage floor. (Everything from the garage is now on the back patio or in my house, and I HATE that. But it saved us from renting a truck to move things to storage for a few days.) I'll get back to the 10K 7-day average the following week and just do what my body feels like during this one. I think today, I'll rest (other than running a couple of errands that I have to get done).

Hope everyone has a good end to the week.

Sheesh - great reduction and I love hearing how much fun you had seeing everyone. So happy all went well. We did the onesies, bibs and diaper messages for Rhea's shower as well. Oh boy did we get some funny ones. And I did them in two sizes so they weren't read/seen all at once. We took pictures of Rhea in the decorated onesies and bibs and shared them with the shower attendees - they got to see her in their artwork. So much fun.

I typically eat dinner about 530ish. Unless I do my TM time then its 630. I don't eat after that until breakfast the next morning. So the other day, I had eaten linner at 4ish and then only my water for the rest of the evening. Yesterday, I had a light dinner of plum and string cheese (I had the rest of my steak and veggies for lunch). Today my weight is the same as yesterday. So...hhhmmm. Except most days I can't wait until 4 to eat lunch. More Disney stuff arrived yesterday so missed my TM time as I was too busy taking pics and sending to my DIL and getting excited.

This morning was nicer than it's been. The weather app said 75 but it felt much warmer (especially when the sun is on you). So I'm really hoping the weather cools a bit more as I'd like to do my morning walks again AND I want to open doors and windows!! I need to air out the house!

Slowly on a that upward trend now. I seemed to have lost my mojo, but it'll come back... hopefully.
Sarah - I know you had mentioned a bit ago about how all activities don't burn the same and when it comes to household chores, I completely agree. I find that when I have chores or cleaning to do, I don't want to workout because I just have to do list on my mind and on the days when I workout first, I don't want to tackle the to do list. In all honesty, I think I'd rather just do the to do list than workout :D

Sheesh - Glad to hear the shower was a success and fun! Hopefully your husband is having fun in Alaska!

Lois - I can just imagine how excited you are for Disney! I so WISH we could go on a trip. Too many restrictions with travel these days. Stupid COVID.

Rest! I don't do that well. I am still having some twinges in the belly so hubby suggested yesterday that I go to a mostly clear liquid diet and rest. I did pretty well with the diet but I do not do well with resting! I am going to try to do better with that today because I'm tired of not feeling well. I am a bad patient!

Kelly, housework and calories are a mixed bag. Once when I moved furniture around I actually saw a nice deficit, but that doesn't happen often. And my weight can vary by 2 to 3 pounds from one day to the next with no discernable reason. So hang in there. :)

I learned last night that my sister is back in the hospital. Not Covid, thank goodness, but her oxygen level is way too low and they don't know why. I don't feel good about this. She has had a croupy sound for a long time and they just can't figure out why. Tests were run yesterday and more coming today. Say a few prayers please.

Just got back from the Van Gogh exhibit and lunch with my niece. What a wonderful afternoon. Had a burger (and the bun) but only a few fries. The Van Gogh Immersion was so cool. We sat in one spot and then moved (with our chairs to another). So so cool. We both had a great time. Pedicure with Audrey tomorrow and more relaxing with her. I will get some TM time in after my pedi. My right toe has an ingrown that has been hurting to walk. Changing pedi places as I didn't like the girl I've had the last two times (and have had two ingrowns since her). Trying someone new tomorrow.

Hubby got home Saturday, lots of fish in the freezers. (Good thing we have a freezer downstairs.) Unfortunately it's mostly halibut fillets as the salmon fishing was slow . . I like halibut, but I really love the salmon. Last night I made a salmon fillet for us for dinner . . it was soooo good! Hubby prefers halibut, so I'll make that this week sometime. Please share good halibut recipes, I'm gonna need them :) I wish I could give you all some fillets. . I'm sending you virtual fish, lol. :D

Sarah, I've been thinking about you and sending healing thoughts for you and your sister. Hopefully the Cipro has helped. Like you, I have a hard time "resting" during the day, but hopefully you did, and you're feeling better. But, belly issues take a long time, so be patient with yourself. I hope your sister has improved. You said you have a bad feeling about it, but hopefully it's a minor Autumn respiratory infection. Those are going around here. Yesterday, pregnant daughter reported she's got a cold. She did a home Covid test a few days ago out of precaution, and repeated a second one yesterday, and is negative. (Thank God) But, anyway, I know colds are upon us already, so maybe that's all your sister has. Sending prayers.

Lois, the Van Gogh exhibit sounds lovely! And I hope your pedi went well with the new person . . . and the ingrown is better. Sounds like a very nice weekend with Audrey.

I'm sure you'll get your mojo again soon Kelly! I know exactly what you mean about the" to do" list and working out are mutually exclusive. When I have a long day of "to do" (re the shower party, house guests) I don't have the stamina or mental bandwidth for both. I wish I did because it would likely be a good stress reducer. On the days when my "to do" is more reasonable, I do the workout first. Usually, I'm rewarded with MORE energy for the list. Also . . . *old lady wisdom warning here* . . . the to do stuff isn't that important, it will wait. YOU are important.

Speaking of which, I have to go get ready for my workout with my trainer and then my "to do" list, lol. I hope you all have a great week. See you Wednesday.

Hi, Ladies. It really cheered me up to log in and find to new posts! Sheesh, I too wish you could share the salmon. It's one of my favorite meals. There's an article on the front page of the Washington Post this morning about how the numbers of salmon are decreasing. Makes me sad and a tad fearful about what is happening with the environment. I like halibut in fish and chips but because that's not the healthiest, we don't have it often, so I need to find new white fish recipes, too. We bought some branzino for the first time time this week and need to get that cooked so I'm on a recipe hunt.

I am calling my sister daily now to check in. Because the hospital is overflowing, they only kept her 2 nights before transferring her home on a program where a provider visits once a day and they do one remote visit a day. A nurse has visited the past two days, and today she'll see the doctor and find our what all the blood tests, CT scan, and such shows. I'm a bit nervous, but she has sounded better the past two days as the meds have kicked in. Sheesh, I know you sister and BIL were juggling some health issues. I hope they are doing much better, and I'm glad that your daughter's issue seems to be an ordinary cold. We used to get colds and think nothing of them, but now, they do make us nervous.

My nose is doing well, but my belly is still tender. I can push on it without pain, and I don't seem to have rebound pain, but there's still that vague feeling of something different down there. I finish my meds Wednesday morning and will then talk to my doc.

When I was on a liquid diet, my weight dropped to 129.0, but now that I'm back to soft, regular food, it has jumped back up to 131. I think that's probably because hubby convinced me to halt the walking for a while, and so I'm burning next to nothing. I may resume walking some today (not whole hog and no hills) to see if moderate activity might help a little at this juncture.

Lois, I think we are going to try to see the Van Gogh exhibit in December. It is sold out until then. Glad you enjoyed it, and get on the TM girl!

Kelly, I know you're juggling kid activities and work, but just know that I'm sending you good thoughts every day. I always look from DC, to Phoenix, and up to Salt Lake, and then up to Winnepeg on that weather map that is on the back page of the Metro section of the morning paper and I say a mental hello and have a good day to everyone.

Will come back later if I get news from Sis.

Sheesh - yum. Halibut. The only way I know is deep fried for fish and chips, Seasoned with cumin and lime for fish tacos and a lemon garlic marinade from Kroger stores that I also use on chicken. Or the caribbean jerk on a slaw. I wish I were closer, I'd stop by and pick some up.

The pedi was great. I thought she'd cleaned out the ingrown, but it's actually at the tip of the nail. So I'm trying to figure that one out. It felt fab after the pedi - yesterday a bit tender.

The Van Gogh...ok so a few friends thought it was "meh" or too short. I really enjoyed it. The video is about 45 mins. and the pre video room exhibit was cool as well. Laurie and I stayed and watched it twice and watched from different angles (almost like watching a movie and you catch stuff the 2nd time through). No one is ushering you through so you can sit there as long as you wish. The video covered his more popular pieces but it was cool. And I paid for the get it all pkg. so yeah.

I did get some meal prep done yesterday and hoping to do better at eating in (except today I'm ordering lunch). I am dressed and ready to get on TM after working today. I may soak my toe ahead of time to soften the nail and see if that helps.

Sarah - glad to hear you're feeling a bit better. And I'm hoping all goes will with your sis.

Oh and it was 78 when I got up this morning!!! It will be 101 later but WOOT WOOT for 78. Almost time to open windows while I sleep. Getting pretty excited at that.
