Welcome to all of our new members! We're excited to have you join in. Be sure to ask if you have questions or need support. We have a wonderfully diverse group which just means that invariably someone will have some ideas and be able to help you and give advice.
I hope that you'll give this group at least a few weeks to work on cementing (your) good habits. Remember that it takes a little while to build a good habit, so if you find yourself struggling, or are ready to quit, please hang in there!! Perseverance is a foundational trait that will ultimately help you towards your goals.
So tell us about your goals for October? And how will your exercise regimen change as the season changes?
(Inquiring minds want to know!)13 -

Heading into October I am realizing a lot of benefits from simply participating here in the UAC. The best way I can describe how well things have gone is that I'm very comfortable with only posting my progress against the 3 daily UAC goals in my daily reports for October. While that may seem backwards to consider leaving off some lofty extra goals, in this case as I head into October it's not like that at all. I'm very comfortable with maintaining the healthy habits I have established over these last few months here in UAC. Comfortable enough to not rely on posting my progress against any additional daily metrics, and instead see how I fare at the end of the month against these goals:
- 500k+ steps
- 190+ walking miles
- 16+ strength sessions
- Average of 30g or fewer net carbs per day
- Average of 180g+ protein per day
- Average of 5+ fruits/veggies per day
- Average daily caloric deficit of 750-1000 under daily weight and exercise adjusted TDEE
Those are still lofty goals, and I am looking forward to seeing how things go this month! I am trusting myself, I have earned that trust! Now I have to PERFORM!
Good luck to everyone this month, you are all very inspirational to me!12 -
Excited to start month 2 with UAC! Very pleased with how September went, the challenge got me tracking on a more consistent basis and I finally managed to make a little weight loss progress. After hovering around 138-141 for most of the year, I am now down to 136 lbs! I've lost 2.6 lbs since September 1st.
October Goals:
To be in the Winner's Circle this month!
To get my weight under 135, so that means losing at least 1.1 lbs this month. Very doable!
To continue running 4 times a week, with at least one run a week being a 5 to 7+ miler.
To continue going to Planet Fitness (started up again in Sept) at least twice a week to do strength training.
Since I live on the West Coast (Seattle suburb) I'll be back several hours from now to post how I did with the rules today.

Hi all!
My October goals:
Lose 3+ pounds
Follow through with the UAC daily
Continue to get back on a schedule and not spend so much time sleeping being sad on the couch.14 -
Hi All,
Iโd like to lose a few pounds before my beach holiday at the end of the month.
Iโm still struggling with a sinus infection so exercise-wise Iโll need to keep it on the light side until Iโm better.

Welcome to Oct everyone. Today is my 4 year maintenance anniversary ๐ฑ๐. Time has really flown. I think one thing I want to focus on this month is not being such a fast eater. Taking time to really savor and enjoy what I eat because over time it seems like I just eat faster and faster. Lol.
If anyone needs help with maintaining feel free to friend me. Itโs an animal completely unlike dieting. ๐คช๐14 -
Iโm Jackie from Washington State, near Mount Rainier.

October goals
- Miracle Morning daily.
- yoga and strength training at least 3x weekly.
- average 30g or fewer net carbs per day
- No LNS daily, ONLY fruits.6 -
@SummerSkier you made me laugh because I also eat fast and always have. It was because I grew up with brothers and they would eat all the food so if I wanted second helpings I had to eat faster than them. My partner is the slowest eater on earth. I'm done before he's even halfway finished. That's too slow from my perspective because by then everything is cold. The one thing I do is count my chews ... I try for 20. That hasn't really slowed me down much but it seems to be better for digestion.
Also it seems that MFP has temporarily disabled friend requests.7 -
Congratulations to all in the winners circle! And to @SummerSkier fir your four year anniversary!
Iโm back after a break as Iโm finding that Iโm not that in control of my eating in a post lockdown life.
Today has been lovelyโฆ
Did I exercise for 20 mins - yes, gentle stretching yoga for 20 mins this morning and 30 more minutes of more intense yiga this evening (thank you UAC, wouldnโt have done it but for this challenge)

My goal for October is actually just observation, this is the first time in a while I'm trying to lose weight so I'm trying out what works and what doesn't. Having some accountability for these useful habits is definitely great for that!
Usually, I do strength training at the gym and eat for performance, not aesthetic which means there are some huge changes in my exercise regiment, mainly a lot more cardio and I want to implement yoga.

October is going to be EPIC! Just saying, lol...

Just a 5k today but it was such a struggle and it made me lose all of the confidence I had just a few days ago.

Impressive @SummerSkier! I am trying to visualize what my maintenance plan will look like but it is all pretty vague at this point.

@bradkcrew - It never seems to fail that the next run after an amazing one just seems to suck. Some weird universal law or something. I wish I could say that the next run after a sucky one is awesome, but it doesn't work that way. Tends more in the direction of sucks, it seems. But the good runs are worth all of the sucky ones.6

Exercise today was 6 hours of thrift store shopping with a friend ๐ .... and 20 mins walking the parking lot tonight at work. They had a drive in movie night in the parking lot for employee appreciation week! While we waited (it didn't start on time) , we walked around the complex!!11 -

Did my last personal training session for a few months today. Weโre going to save the rest of my paid for sessions for winter when itโs not the best running weather. She had to do a physical assessment of me today for a new program theyโre adopting and after she asked me for my current medical situation she was like โso, Iโm going to just write down โhot messโโ. ๐๐คฃ Yup, that about sums it up. Doc stuff is on hold until the end of December which is the soonest the Rheumatologist I was referred to had an opening for a new patient.
October goals:
*Actually stick to 3 pass days or less.
*Run at least 12 miles a week (lower to start and Iโll be increasing my mileage a little bit every week).
*Eat more freggies.
Iโm refraining from making weight related goals for October, but I would like to see the 160โs by the end of January soโฆ Do what you will with that, October.
Something else I wanted to mention today. What was it? Hm. I canโt remember, Iโll come back later if I do. Lol.6 -
