Have just a moment to log my weight. I was surprised to see that that no one beat me to start the new thread. Everyone has been so quiet. I hope that is because you're busy with life but that all is well. I will be back later to chat. I am rushing today myself!
If I don't manage to get back here tonight (I'm meeting my friend to walk and I also have a homeowners association meeting tonight and there are big things afoot in that regard) I promise to do so tomorrow. This is my first attempt at starting a new thread since the revamp of the board. Hope this flies!

Wow Sarah! Great reduction! Whatever you're doing, it's working! And, yes, I've been very busy with life, upcoming holidays, etc. Not much progress, but I'll take the small reduction considering everything else going on with life.
Speaking of life, our grand baby is one month old today! Time really flies when you're having fun with a baby.
I'll check back tomorrow . . gotta run to dinner and then family zoom.0 -

It's coming down. not sure what I'm doing exactly as I'm not logging. Not ordering in quite as much. Sarah - I did attempt to start the thread but had internet issues and lost this as well as some work stuff...so ppffffft.
Busy work week. And I had Rhea on Monday due to a covid daycare exposure closure. We had a blast and I'll fill you in some more in a day or so. Still catching up from being out on Monday and may possibly have Rhea again on Friday.
Great reduction Sarah!!! Keep it going.
Sheesh - a reduction with everything going is a reduction. Love that grandbaby!!
Kelly - what ya doing girl??0 -
Busy with life here too. Hockey for both kids, Ella's Birthday is coming up with her sleepover party next weekend, dogs, Christmas shopping and Christmas event organizing and planning, work, housekeeping, etc, etc, etc....
Everything.
Have managed to get some activity in lately but not as much as I should. Weight is likely creeping up, but I almost feel like I don't even have time to worry about it cause we're constantly on the go. On the nights when we aren't on the go, we just want to relax, which usually means eating comfort food (like last night we had takeout hamburgers and fries).
I'll try catch up soon!0 -
Hi, Ladies. Happy Friday Eve! Yesterday afternoon and evening turned out more hectic that I expected. I did not even get up here to log lunch and dinner and had to rely on my "not as good as it used to be" memory. I can't afford to do that very often, as I know what happens when I do.
Today is a spectacular fall day. After a string of very chilly and windy days, it's expected to hit 70 here today and the sun is shining. I so hope hubby will be able to get out and go with me to a park to walk some. His walking ability is still very iffy. If he walks far, he starts getting weak in the legs and sometimes get bad cramps. Lately these have been in the calf rather than than the hamstrings and quads like they typically have been. He did finally get the results of the blood tests he had done 2 weeks ago and he does not have that tick-borne issue. He also has (with his meds) normal cholesterol and his A1C level has improved. So it's some good news, but honestly, I could not express the amount of happiness about the A1C that I think he hoped I would. It has been more than 5 years now since he has been able to walk with me, and my vision of us spending time doing just that once I was free of those crazy work hours is just not coming true. So it makes me a little angry--not at him but at the situation. I still want an answer about his legs. Just grocery shopping yesterday got to his legs.
But enough of my whining (although thank you for this safe place to do so.)
I didn't have time yesterday to comment on my goals, which is important for me to do to keep myself on track. The good news is that my 7-day step average was 11,925. I didn't quite make my 7-day average burn goal of 1,800 kcals, but it was a near miss (1,793) so I'm going to retain that goal for this week. I also want to try once again to do some arm exercises. Last time, that shoulder started crying right off the bat, so I may start with just 2 pound weights. Not much, but something!
I'm glad to hear that everyone is doing okay--juggling a lot of life stuff, but no major issues. As the holidays approach we're all going to need to be careful not to overdo and leave no time for self care. Kellie, a burger on the sofa is medicine for the soul sometimes.
Tonight we have a commitment in the early evening and have agreed to just pop a pizza in the oven when we get home. I don't need the stress of cooking or cleaning, too, so I'll just plan around that.
Not sure if any of you are familiar with Ellie Krieger. She focuses on healthy foods (low fat, low sugar, high fiber) and we've tried several of her recipes lately that were quite good. I have her "The Foods You Crave" cookbook, but you can also find her recipes on the Food Network website. Last night we had steak tacos with cucumber and avocado salsa; a couple of nights ago, we had braised cabbage with yogurt and dill; and a few nights before that baked shrimp with tomatoes and feta. All were "keepers." I think getting out of my food rut and drinking decaf tea at night when I get the urge to snack are making a difference. If you have other suggestions, please share.0 -
Sarah - I love your goal setting. I need one - GET OFF MY *kitten* ALREADY! And I'm going to check out the Ellie recipes and see if there are things I can make on Sunday for the week.
Rhea ended up having an ear infection on Wednesday - poor girl. Anyway, they also had her covid tested and she's negative (as we had thought). She's so much better now. I did have her on Friday.. She wiped me OUT. I was exhausted when she left. The sales team has been super busy and I didn't want to be overwhelmed today so I worked 1/2 day on Saturday. So glad I did, because more sales came over Saturday afternoon and Sunday. So I feel ok today. Waiting for my reports to finish running.
Any way. The weather here has been GORGEOUS and I need to get my bum outside and start walking or hiking!!
I will check in on Wednesday.0 -
That's our job--stay on each other's "kittens"!! LOL
Lois, it sounds like your work has been pretty busy and add helping out with childcare and I'm sure that you're scrambling. Honestly, doesn't it seem like everything speeds up this time of year? The traffic volume has increased here, stores are busier, and people seem distracted or stressed. I am trying to go out as few times as possible, but did have to hit the grocery store and drop by the vets this morning.
Our day started on a sad note. We got news that a friend who was close when they lived here died on Friday. We did a lot of fun things with him and his wife when they lived in Maryland, and when they retired to NC, they were only about a 45 minute drive from my Mom, so we would also see them there. In the past few years, they've been in the Portland area near their daughter. Anyway, I was reminded that we all have limited time here, so it's best not to let things like traffic and pushy people get to me too much. However, I did see one thing this morning that was a bit alarming. The car ahead of me at a traffic light almost hit a young boy who dashed in front of them after the light turned green. Honestly, I could not tell if they did barely clip his coat or if they totally missed him. He didn't stop, but kept running with his friend, who also crossed against the light, and they didn't stop, so as we drove I memorized the license tag number and wrote it down when I finally got to the grocery store parking lot.
Regarding goals, I've been walking with my new buddy most evenings and have been getting in my steps. And as of now, I'm one calorie shy of my 7-day average burn goal (I'm at 1,799), so if I push a little today and tomorrow, I may just make it! I know that Thanksgiving will probably throw a monkey wrench into next week since I'll spend the morning cooking, the early afternoon and evening traveling, and the time in between eating! Hopefully, I can recoup some while hubby is out of town, but we all know how that went last time!
Well, I have a to-do list with 7 items on it for today and only 3 have been checked off, so I'm heading to do #4 (fold laundry). Ughhh
Hope everyone is doing well.

As I looked at the thread today, I realized that I looked at the calendar wrong when I started the thread and that the end date for this one should be 11/24. I also realized that I forgot to mention yesterday that I did pick up the weights again (a goal for the week). On Friday, I did triceps and biceps exercises with 2 and then 5 pound weights and some shoulder exercises with just the 2 pounds weights. I was fine on Saturday, and thought--yes, this is not kicking up the old injury. But then Sunday, I had pain in my left arm (the injured one) a little off center and about three inches down from where the arm attaches to the shoulder. The pain did not feel like it was just muscle soreness from new use, and it took several days to go away. I may try again with just the 2 pounds weights or using stretchy bands. At least I have my annual physical scheduled for December 10 and can talk to my doc about it then if it keeps up. I do want to figure out how to do something to keep from losing all my arm strength. My legs are in good shape from walking, but the arms are turning in to old lady arms! Some is my genes, but at least some is not.
In the meantime, hubby's mind is totally on his trip and my mind is on getting some financial paperwork together. I am the one who does all of that in this family and I've avoided some things to point that it has cost us big time. If only I could go back in time . . .
I will do my best to get back here tomorrow morning to weigh in, and I should be able to do that since I'm only cooking side dishes and an appetizer to take to our friends' house. But if I don't, please know that you are one of the things on my gratitude list.0
