Introducing myself

Hello all you lovely goal setting and hard working "losers"!

I wanted to introduce myself to a group of amazing individuals with the same goals as myself. I'm wanting to befriend people who I can follow, cheer for and to get some support myself. It can be so daunting when looking at the "big" picture and "large" goals I'm setting for myself.

I was once so successful with weight loss. I joined up with weight watchers and along with the use of MFP I lost about 80 pounds over the course of 10 months. Of course I was 10 years younger -- it was a little quicker and I want to say easier for the pounds to melt away. I have since gained it back and then some. It is easily psychologically twice as hard to lose weight you've already lost.

This year has been one of the hardest years of my life. I lost my father in March quite suddenly. The previous July he turned 60 and celebrated by jumping out of a plane. It was unexpected, traumatic and gut wrenching. While I have struggled with anxiety my whole life this was the first time I had dealt with debilitating depression. I run my own business and ran into some stressors that were relatively unusual (thank you COVID, staff turnover and wildly busy schedule!). My overall stress levels are higher than I’ve ever experienced them.

I know that all sounds like I’m making up a ton of different excuses on why it’s so difficult for me to just start and build new healthy habits. Between my career, working on my masters degree and all the other activities I somehow keep piling into my life (I promise I am learning to say No) I am literally always in a state of chronic fatigue. It is my hope that I can find some like-minded people who have large goals to reach who are ready to commit to putting themselves first in order to help motivate one another in the journey of reaching those goals.

Truthfully I’m looking to lose about half my body weight total over the next 2 to 3 years. I’m not looking for quick fixes and I’m not looking for unattainable goals that always just inevitably set me back further than when I first began.

If this speaks to others I would really love it if we could work together.

Thanks so much!

Jenny

    Woohoo!
    You're on your way!

Thinking back to 7 years ago, the decision to put the oxygen mask on first before dealing with other passengers was a major changing point, and I would do well to keep this in mind!

Welcome Jenny! Take some time to prepare to learn new habits and strategies. I dare say most of us in this group have lost and regained weight. I know I have. What has worked this time is to do what PAV suggests. Put yourself first.
You might want to go back and read through some earlier posts which offer a wealth of information and support.

Hello Jenny! I'm glad you decided to join after all. It's good to see you here! As Yoolypr suggested, there's a wealth of information to be found in the earlier postings. I don't think I would've been off the excellent start I had without first reading through their great wisdom!
