Ugh. I don't want the upward trend over the holidays, but it seems inevitable. I'll try to focus more.

Son and his family arrive tomorrow. . I'm ready and getting soooo excited! They decided to stop off and stay overnight in Nevada along the way. I'm relieved because that is a REALLY long drive through the Sierra mountains, and a storm is forecast. He has chains for their van, but please say a little prayer for their safety today and tomorrow. <3

I'm not sure I'll be able to log on again until January. I'm wishing you ladies a very Merry Christmas with your families and friends!! Safe travels and cheers to a Happy New Year, and a much better 2022!!

Gotta run now.

Hi, everyone. Sorry I didn't get back here before now. I hardly know how to sum up the past week except to say that it was difficult in many ways. We left on Tuesday, a little later than planned, and stopped for the night in Lynchburg, VA. We planned to have dinner at a restaurant near the hotel that we've enjoyed a number of times, but when we drove up, their parking lot was packed. So that didn't feel like a safe thing to do. We saw few people down that way wearing masks. So we ended up at a Jersey Mike's and took sandwiches back to the hotel.

I have to tell you that I am DONE with sandwiches. On the road both ways that was our only option. Many places were closed, so sandwich shops was about it. And even while at my sister's, that ended up being our option for several meals because of scheduling and the fact that there was no food in their house. My BIL literally does take-out twice to three times a day. So cooking down there means buying everything because there are no staples or they are way past their "use by" date! I found things in their cabinets that we bought Christmas of 2019!

We did buy a lot of groceries and took some things we cooked ahead and froze. And because my BIL said the spaghetti sauce hubby made one night was the best he had ever eaten, hubby made a second batch the next day and put in their freezer. Hopefully, my BIL can figure out how to boil pasta! But timing and people coming in out and made cooking difficult many times.

When she was able, my sister was a great cook and I know she feels bad about not being able to do that now, so we try to just tried go with the flow. Their next door neighbor brought us some wonderful pork bar-b-que that he smoked himself--but again, sandwiches.

So I stepped on the scale this morning to find an extra pound and a half. :'(

As far as exercise, I hit the TM at the hotel on the way down and got my 10K. We also had two very warm days down there and hubby walked outside with me so we hit 10K those days. They live in a small college town (Gardner Webb University) and the campus is a great place to walk. But yesterday, we were on the road from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. due to multiple accidents and I think I got about 3K! I have a lot of making up to do.

My sister's condition has gotten a lot worse. She is on oxygen all the time now and has a terrible cough they can't seem to diagnose. Her pain is still constant even with pain meds and she yelps every time someone helps her get out of bed and into a wheel chair. She tried so hard to sit in the family room some of the time to visit with us, but she couldn't make it very long. Because even a common cold could be serious for her now, we did little visiting. Her children and grandchildren came in batches rather than all at once, and the one daughter who will not get vaccinated was asked to wear a mask--which she did.

Well, enough of that. I just wanted to let you know that my time and energy during the past week were pretty well tapped out, so although I took my computer, I never even got it out.

Today, I will hopefully get back into my evening walking routine and I will start logging my food again. The scale showed me this morning what too much bread, sweets, and nuts will do to you.

I hope you all had a nice holiday and I'm looking forward to hearing about it!
