It was either in November or December when we were discussing strategies to keep from going off the rails once we’ve passed our 3 pass days. I personally have had a terrible time with this. Every time I’d hit that 4th day, I struggled to contain myself the rest of the month. There were months when I was desperate for the new month so that I could get things under control again, starting over with my pass days. So imagine my surprise when several of you said that you don’t really pay attention to the pass days and/or that you don’t make it your goal to be in the winners circle. All I could think was “WHAT! But that’s the point of the UAC!” I just could not wrap my brain around that. However, this month, I passed the 3 pass days within the first 4 or 5 days. And you know what? It didn’t make a whiff of difference. I’m still logging, still aiming for my calorie limit. What’s changed is that now I’m still aiming for the 3 UAC goals because I WANT to, not because I HAVE to. Hopefully this will help someone else who has passed you 3 days and are now struggling to stay on track. Do it because you WANT to, not because you HAVE to.18 -
When I first started UAC I thought it would be quite easy to get to the Winner's Circle. Ha! I think I've only been there 3-4 times at most. Too lazy to go check. But's it's not actually easy at all especially when one has stuff going on whether illness, physical limitations or personal issues. But I also don't let it derail me. I treat each day as a clean slate.
All we can do is keep plugging away and hope our habits change enough to make progress towards our goals ... whatever that looks like to each of us.14 -

Thank you @biketheworld for the opening topic.
It all boils down to what we want in life. Life is not linear. There are ups and downs. It is the journey. When we go on a trip (driving), there are turns, the road goes up and down. But we do not stop, we have the end of the journey (our destination) in mind. We look forward to when we will arrive at our destination.
The destination here is to keep working on these 3 UAC rules. Trusting that we will form life habits as we learn to care for ourselves and our love ones. I see my family members and close friends copying me.
Winner's Circle is a perk on the way. You want to be a Champion!
Every Champion is a Winner in the making (A winner in the oven ).
Keep logging, keep tracking, keep exercising, keep working to meet your calorie goals . Some days it will be 3 Yeses, other days 2 Yeses or maybe 1 Yes. But you did it! The journey is different each day but it is worth it.

Pass days yep I can tots relate. Lol! I actually had to stop taking pass days this month as it was just messing with my head lol.. Now I just either eat at maintaince calories or use my exersice calories instead wen I feel the need to indulge say once a week. Seems to be working well so far. Xxx

@Revlish - I've never had rolled rye, don't remember even seeing it anywhere. I will definitely look for some!
@Winner_in_Life - I'm going to check her out just to hear her talk! I'm just the opposite, a better listener.
Hugs to everyone going through tough times!

@Mrs_Hoffer When I first joined UAC, I was focused on accountability, and working on my daily goals. The Winners Circle was a bonus. Once I hit where I thought I wanted to be, I went on maintenance, but the habits stayed the same, albeit, with a little more leeway. I redefined my goals as habits, and over time, they have become part of my daily routine. Logging into UAC daily is one of those habits. The 3 requirements were the first 3 habits I developed at the beginning of my journey. IMHO the daily support of UAC members make it one of the best groups to belong to on MFP.
I wasn’t always this disciplined, but the feeling of accomplishment I got from the process has given me a completely different outlook on my health and fitness.
Surprisingly, sticking to roughly the same habits in maintenance meant that my weight has continued to drop ever so slowly. I have reduced my upper weight ceiling downwards several times.7 -

@victorious55 This is such an important post ❣️👏👏1 -
Nice topic @biketheworld. What @victorious55 posted is extremely insightful. So many twists and turns we encounter. And superimposed on that is our participation leading to strengths and skills we can’t predict. Submitting to the process is a wonderful teacher.
Two weeks ago facing the prospect of maintenance I felt lost and ill-equipped to pull off something that seemed daunting. Something I’d never done before. But with a little support here, trial and error and confidence gained by having pizza and other things while still accomplishing my goals, it doesn’t seem daunting it seems more than doable.
I haven’t made the Winner’s Circle yet, I hope to at some point. But I’m meeting my goals.6 -
@donna25trinity
I’m here is you want or need to chat. You are sooo supportive of all of us.
I/we are here for you💕5 -
2nd the idea that we are here for each other 3-yes day. Feeling bummed about not weight lifting. But one more wk of a 3wk order of light exercise due to a pinched nerve in my lower back.
Finally, food discipline is hard for me when I'm idle. So, I've challenged myself off and on to try OMAD (one meal a day). I eat all of my calories within a 2-3 hour time frame. That *kitten* is HARD. But, it's allowed me to control my inner dialogue when I'm bored, to just eat, nibble, taste. I'm committing for 30 days to OMAD and we'll see.8 -

Sounds like we all have different strategies to get us through when we slip off the rail as someone put it. Sometimes it’s hard to stay focused, I know this holiday season has been tough for me up 6lbs and struggling to get it off! But each day I am here trying to get through, I know I will get there just like each of you sometimes I think we overthink our dilemma and it creates havoc so now each day is a new one to try and do better that’s my strategy. I also look to my scale each morning as my friend not foe this way I can plot my course for the day should I need adjustments.8

Tracked stayed under logged, shoveled some more now back to the deep freeze!! I did manage a 1 mile spin ride I went slow which I found annoying but it was doable my knee a little stiff when done but a hot shower helped. Maybe a little more tomorrow.5

At least I did get a short walk in before psycho dog decided to take a chunk out of my leg. I am glad he has ground his canines down or the damage would have been much worse. I really just want to put him down but my daughter would never forgive me. It pains my soul to feel this way but I have tried everything I know. My thigh is painfully swollen, bruised and cut. He shook and tried to put me on the ground. So beside trying to heal from my surgery, I now have to deal with a bite. The emotional scars are the worst in this situation13 -
Horrific @tahm42
I’m concerned.
Your daughter might not forgive you, but your being physically attacked won’t be okay with her either!
Please be safe.4
