Does anyone have any reading totals they would like to share? Goodreads keeps pretty good track for me, I record everything I read there for my couple of friends to see. Is anyone else open to friends on Goodreads? If so, add me, I am lakeman (Doug) and here is a link (I hope it works):
https://www.goodreads.com/friend/i?feature=friend-invite-url&invite_token=YTUwYjRmNmQtNDUxYi00ZjJhLTkzZDYtYzliZGJjOWY3ZmI5
-- or try https://www.goodreads.com/lakeman and add me manually.
For the year to date (2021) I beat all my old records, 171 books completed, for a total of 67,000 pages! Previous to that my best was a bit over 63,000 pages in 2018.
My favorite book of 2021 that I read? That would be hard to answer. I really liked Petty: The Biography (of Tom Petty the rock star) by Warren Zanes. It happened to be the first book I read in 2021. There were many other highlights, including the Outlander Series books 7 & 8 by Diana Gabaldon, American Gods by Neil Gaiman, and An Orchestra of Minorities by Chigozi Obioma, plus more, too many 5 star reads to list. Not so easy to pick just one.
Anyone else read any great books in 2021 or have reading totals to share?

I don't keep a total, but I'm quite sure I've read a lot this year. You're spurring me on to look more closely... I'll try to look soon and get back here.1

I just sent you a friend request. My goodreads claims I only read 8 books this year, but I'm sure I just didn't add them all. Maybe someday I'll bring order to the chaos? Happy New Year!1 -

Spreadsheet totals tell me the number of hours I read in 2021, since I am immersion reading along with the audiobook companion I have the length of the audiobooks recorded as time as well as pages. I just like to know the stats, for entertainment and curiosity purposes...
In 2021 I read a grand total of 2000 hours (almost exactly), which equates to an embarrassing 83.3 days, or 5 hours and 29 minutes per day (x 365 days). That is 23 minutes more per day than my previous highest of 5 hours 6 minutes in 2018. This reflects some of the longer books I had read in '21, and some of life's circumstances (easy to escape into a book in my free time).
A goal (not resolution) for 2022 is to find something else to do in my free time besides reading exclusively. I will never stop reading but I won't ever top that 2021 stat; I would like to be a more diversified person with my hobbies.2 -
I agree: I need to find other things to do with my time! I love, love, love to read, but I spend too much time sitting....
I also want to get better at updating my Goodreads ratings immediately. Looking at you, I've started to go back and add things that never got added and rate things that never got rated, but it's time-consuming. Better to do the updates as I go.
My goals for 2022 include eating more mindfully and moving much more. Woo hoo!

I did not make my 2021 totals on Good Reads. I lost my ability to focus after my mom passed away in August. Going to try and you as friend Catfishfan. Here's the link to my profile if you want to friend me.

Noreen on GoodReads.
Best thing I read in 2021 either Dune or Defending Jacob. Going to try to do more reading this year.1 -

Thanks for the Goodreads add. I'm sorry to hear of the passing of your mother, if you mentioned it before I am sorry I didn't remember. Yes, something like that would certainly disrupt all concentration. I hope you can read more in 2022 if that is your goal. Have a happy New Year!1 -
I track all that I read - started that when I was on SparkPeople. In 2021 I read 82 books. I try to read the entire alphabet (author names).

That's a cool challenge.
I have to jump all around in different series and genres to stay interested in reading, I cannot "marathon" read any series all straight in a row or anything or I get burn out. I never can pick a book to read before I get finished with the current one either, by the time I get to it I don't feel like reading that one and pick a different one. Good thing there are infinite books to choose from!0 -

I was on a team on SparkPeople that had that as a Challenge. Never did make it through the entire alphabet. I am impressed with anyone who can.
Doug - I can never decide what to read next either until I am done with the current book. Sometimes I have what I call a book hangover - where one book sticks with you after it is finished. Then I need something completely different to clear the book palette so to speak.1 -
Doug, I'm not currently keeping track, but I am still reading books and loving it!
I was reading Hazard through the public library, and when I went to check it out again, I am the 6th person waiting for it!
It's about a girl who grew up in Hazard, KY.1
