We meet here to explore, share, celebrate and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.
This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!
Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion.
Monday - crewahl (Charlie)
Tuesday – Wildcard!
Wednesday - misterhub (Greg)
Thursday -imastar2 (Derrick)
Friday - Flintwinch (Tim)
Topic: Activity / Does being really active/busy (not necessarily exercise) ? Effect your eating habits?

I'm extremely busy for my age 75. Business mostly but I wouldn't have it any other way. In fact I'm off to a meeting this am non business related. I'll double back later this afternoon or evening and finish my thoughts.0

For sure! Being active, generally, takes my mind off of food and limits my food intake. I am better tolerant of delaying (or skipping) lunch, for example, if I've got a lot of work I'm in the midst of, or if I'm out running errands etc. This is probably a corollary to boredom eating: when I'm bored, I eat, and when I'm not, I don't (at least there's a correlation).0

I snack less when I am busy. My mind is on something besides food, which is a good thing when you are a boredom/anxiety eater. When I am not doing something, I don't always resort to eating; but I often do.0

Same here. Keep me busy, I don't snack.0

ditto, less time with nothing to do but practice my hand to mouth exercise will help keep the pounds away0

Up and out is safest thing for me. Too much couch sitting is the path to trouble.0

I’m at my best when I’m working on a project. Being busy around the house is better for me. Why? Because all roads seem to bring me past temptation. Keep me busy! Keep me active! Keep me occupied (mind more than body actually) but keep me away from the places that make tempting food so easy to get1

Everything affects my eating habits. Busy? Grab a “quick bite”. Not busy? Grab something to snack. Anything is an occasion to eat.2
