TODAY'S TOPIC:
What if all possibilities were possible?
What are your possibilities? Can you think of new ones?
IDEA ---> PROCESS ---> GOAL
Is there something you'd like to do you haven't done yet, large or small, that might improve your life?1 -
I posted the above a while back. Now that I've seen the NSV threads play out I thought I'd add a little more.
We all work hard to live heathier and better lives. Each day is precious and the sum is finite. How might you make them more special? Or vibrant? It could be something you already do, just more or differently. Or maybe climb a mountain you've never climbed. A recipe. A sport. Writing. Something else.
What if all possibilities were possible?
Pursuing what makes us happy and engaged can also have this benefit:
@MadisonMolly2017 said this in her NSV post yesterday:
"After decades + an intensive past 3 exploratory years, I invented an on-going art project that brings me great joy❣️
I cannot wait to work on it each day, which is helping my food intake be effortless!"
I don't remember thinking about food as much when I had my active interests on which to focus my attention.7 -

I’ve been on vacation all month and have tried to keep up on posts. I know this is back tracking but WOW @MadisonMolly2017 on your 2/12 post about habits. I’m still absorbing it, thinking about it while I hike and bike. I know many others have mentioned the Atomic Habits book and although I’ve said I was going to buy it, I never have. I am going to check out the MFP group you mentioned.
This is exactly why the UAC is so valuable. I did join another group in January just because I thought a little change up might get my weight loss moving again. It’s a very nice group, I’m enjoying it, but I’m not learning much. This group gets me thinking, inspires change, and helps create lifelong change.
So thank you to everyone who contributes, who encourages, who posts their ups and downs. I think we’re a great team.11 -

The question for today is interesting for me because it is something I have been thinking about a lot. So much has changed in my life in the last 18 months, I'm at a point of trying to work out who I am now - I don't know yet, but I'll keep trying new things in the hope something will stick 🙃7 -

@Arc2Arc Thank you for today’s topic. I hope my experiences may be of use to others.
I have the good fortune to be a naturally positive person. However, I have had many downs along the way.
After many years of reflection and self development, I have reached a state of relative equilibrium. I am positively working on developing habits which support my quest to improve my health and fitness.
We cannot control events. However, we can control how we react to them.
Current Life Beliefs:
💎 Waking up each morning is better than the alternative. It is a daily gift for which I give heartfelt thanks.
💎 Thoughts shape our actions. Be mindful of how you frame them. I choose to acknowledge negative thoughts, then endeavour to reframe them positively to support my aspirations.
💎 Celebrate your achievements.
💎 Habits need practice. Make small changes, one at a time.
This was what I did at the start of my journey in Jan 2015, at the age of almost 69. My primary objectives were to improve my health/fitness, and lose weight prior to essential hip surgery.
1. I tracked my CI/CO. It showed me that although I ate healthy food, my portion control was non existent. I also needed to move more.
2. My weight had soared, and had impacted my mobility. I started regular short periods of exercise and increased them gradually.
3. I started weighing/measuring, and decreasing my portions, and looking for healthier options.
4. I began to make friends with people who were supportive, and encouraging.
5. I began to join groups on MFP, and increased my support network.
6. I started recording my vital statistics and weight, which had began to drop. There were many plateaus, but I kept going.
7. I felt and looked better as time went on.
2014 ……….… now …….…. 2013
I subsequently had successful surgery in September 2015, and made a speedy recovery. I haven’t looked back since.
There have been many bumps along the way, but I am reasonably content with how thing are progressing.

Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Yes
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yes4 -
If anything was possible: I would be independently wealthy so I could just work on me. I would have a home gym that rivaled some pay for gyms, I would focus on me and what I want to do. I would take guitar lessons and do many things at my leisure and I would travel to places far and near but reality says I need to use what I have for gym equipment I need to go to work every day and I need to take care of my family so there you have it it’s called responsibility.
I tracked I logged and walked outdoors for a change and did spin.6 -

What if all possibilities were possible?
I've been thinking about this a lot lately...... In September this year, I will retire from my day job (bank job), and am looking forward to being able to do massage on a more "full-time-ish" basis. I'd like to work full days on Thus-Fri-Sats, as I share the room with another therapist and she works on Mon-Tue-Wed. Between now and Sept, I have 4 weeks of vacation time, as well as sick time, and personal time to use before I retire. So I've scheduled to work 1/2 days every other Friday, enabling me to work full days in the chiropractor's office. I say all this because this is something that I've wanted to do for several years now...... and it's finally, very slowly, beginning to come to fruition!!
(I've always wanted a job where I worked 3 days and then had 4 days off!) Lol. In all seriousness, I do "In-Home" massages on Mon-Tue-Wed, but I don't do near as many of those as I'd like! I want to volunteer at our local Heartbeats Pregnancy Center 1 day/week. My DH and I would also like to be able to travel a little more often..... and of course I'd also like to be able to spend more time with my grandchildren and new great grandbabies!!3 -
✔︎ 20+ mins exercise (1hr6min walk)
✔︎ Within calorie budget (well under... had plans with friends and ended up not using all my pre-logged calories because I listened to hunger/fullness cues and made mindful decisions! Huge NSV for me to be mindful rather than just run on auto-pilot while out at a restaurant with friends.)

Regarding today's topic: When COVID happened, I started reevaluating my priorities. I made some proactive changes with my workload and have chosen to do more of what brings me joy and less of what creates anxiety and stress. I also found a job helping people in a setting I love and I'm starting to envision a future where I can knit together my passions and a new career path. Working diligently on my mindset around weight loss and my health & wellness in general has also helped me to transform how I think about other aspects of my life (work, relationships, how I choose to spend my most precious resource: time). Thanks for the great topic @Arc2Arc !6 -

Thanks for the opener @Arc2Arc
As I have lost weight it has reminded me that the possibilities truly are endless. I had sort of boxed myself into a corner of shame and doubt as the weight crept on and I often felt I couldn't do things.
I am still trying to get my mind to catch up to my body and to strive for bigger things. It's a work in progress.6 -

Exhausted today and ended up having to take a nap before dinner. Really early morning tomorrow. Just finished on the treadmill. Will hit a hot shower and head to bed.
Great topic @Arc2Arc — Thanks Lorenzo! I dream about walking some form of multi-week long walk. Preferably somewhere with beautiful geography! I have been doing some YouTube treadmill walking journeys and it has me dreaming. Another is to walk a half marathon one day. It is hard to tell what my true distance and speed are when I am only walking on the treadmill. I know I cover greater distance and with greater speed when I am walking outdoors in warmer weather. But for now, I walk however I can.
Loved your response post today @TerriRichardson112 Thanks for sharing with us. I swear I wouldn’t recognize you from the before picture to now.
I hope you feel better in the morning @loopydo2017 after a good sleep.

For the most part, I'm a worrier, even as a kid. With the weight loss and fitness level, I'm starting to have more confidence that I can do things and not hold others back. I was excited the other day when my younger daughter called and said she wanted to take me backpacking for Mother's day. In the past, I would have poo-pooed the idea and preferred to stay home. So while the worrier in me still won't let go of some things (no roller coasters for me), I'm increasingly feeling confident about myself across a number of areas.5 -
