Wow. I was prepared to apologize for being late to post and was surprised to be first. Perhaps it's the time difference. It's 6:30 my time, but only 4:30 (or maybe even 3:30) for everyone else.

Obviously, I'm not happy to still be around the same weight. I looked at my stats and I've come to the conclusion that weight is more than the old 3500 equals one pound. My average steps for the past 7 days was 12,311, my average burn per day was 1,719, and my average intake was 1,344. If you go by the math, I had an average deficit of 375 kcal a day, and that by 7 should have netted a 3/4 pound loss, but it did not. So that number on the scale is not a simple mathematical equation. I know that sodium intake affects what I see, and so does sugar, and I've had trouble limiting both this week. So I know I need to watch out for that.

Sheesh, you'll be happy to know that I have added weights to my arm exercises 3X a week. Other days, I just do a few without weights to stretch and loosen my arms a bit. So far, that shoulder is not acting up! I did, however, sleep on two pillows a couple of nights ago with my head at too steep an angle, and I'm paying the price for that!

I hope that everyone is doing okay, and I'll check back later.

Came back to quickly add that I finally got the results of my dexa scan done on Jan 6. I have lost a little bone in both spine and hip since 2019. Not a lot, but enough to record. I think I have a 10-year fracture risk of almost 15% now. So my intake goals for next week (and every week) are going to include making sure that I get the minimum daily requirement for calcium. That is not easy when you're trying to stay around 12K to 13K in kcals per day!

Still in the same range. I've been getting good cardio workouts, but only 1 Apple thirty minute weight workout in the past few weeks, so I don't believe it's a lack of cardio exercise that's lacking, but weight training. I've been pretty good with food intake . . but missed being in deficit too many days. So, Sarah, I'm glad you've added weights into your routine, and especially since you had a little bone loss according to your scan. (I finally got my trainer back with me today after all of her family Covid passed . . so yay!) It's really hard to get my calorie burn above 1,700. . is it possible you're getting incorrect data on that? It's frustrating that it gets harder and harder as we age . . But, hang in there, it's worth it for health benefits even if no fat is lost.

Sorry to be late with my post this week. I had a long conversation with a friend yesterday, did laundry, then worked out, had online playdates, cooked dinner, had family zoom, and then I was exhausted because I hardly slept the night before. I wonder if Kelly is getting any better sleep? It really sucks to not sleep well.

I'll check back later. Take care

sorry for being late. I popped on a few times and kept getting interrupted. Yesterday was tough. We have decided to agree with the hospital and put mom into an intensive rehab center. So I spent some time today reviewing our options and put them in order of preference. Visitation at two of the centers will be determined once she's checked in and they do an updated test. If negative, then one of us can visit each day. If she's positive, no visitors. Hubby took her phone up to her and was blocked at the elevator. We also printed some pictures, mounted them on file folder cardboard and sent those along. The nurse today confirmed she has them and said she's been sharing the pictures with everyone when they come in. They really helped lift her spirits so we're really hoping for a negative test when she gets moved (day still not confirmed). I don't know what I've shared and not shared, so I apologize if I'm on repeat. Staying busy with work to keep from getting sad. This is all I've been doing. Last night hubby said we were going for a walk today. I asked several times and he has declined and it's cold (for us) We woke up at 40 and it's just now getting to 58, it's been closer to 50 all day.

We're still ordering the platters from Pita Jungle for 2-3 meals per platter. Hummus, chicken (hubby), caprese, feta with cucumber tomato salad, cucumbers, tomatoes, kafta burger patty, and pita crisps with a side of turmeric rice/lentils, and sauteed veggies. With the steroids I'm getting munchies, so I'm working on staying away from the candies. Also, last night being so upset with mom's update, I actually pulled out one of my premade cocktails and had a small glass. It helped to relax me.

Sarah - great job with adding the weights. That will also aid in increased bone density.

Happy Monday. I'm logging to make myself more aware of what I need to do this week--and beyond. I don't know if it's boredom from being inside during all the ice and wind or if I'm just getting lazy, but the scale is inching up. And I've been attacked by chocolate covered raisins during the past week. :s I love them and have a funny story about how I once shopped for them at more than one grocery store (back when candy was first available in bulk in our usual markets) because I didn't want the checkout clerk to see how many I was buying. So what cruel turn of events caused hubby to bring me a small tub of them from Wegman's and several days later my friend Dennis give me a huge bag of raisinettes because he saw a wall of candy in the Home Store and remembered that story? Talk about bad timing.

Add to all that that hubby made cheese bread to go with the soup I made and my neighbor Lyn sent over brownies to thank me for the homemade soup I took over to her! So I need to continue working on being aware of how much sugar and fat I'm getting in the form of snacks and remind myself to wait after eating so that my brain and stomach can sync.

But the raisins and the brownies are now gone, and I have a chance to stop this trend by doing what I know works: log every bite, eat slowly and observe that 20-minute rule, nudge the activity up a hair, and be honest to myself and you guys about what I'm doing.

Now on to other things. I am losing sleep now about the multiple notices I'm getting about not turning in my CDC smartcard, although I returned it with my laptop back in August. I've contacted the smartcard office, and I've contacted my old client and my former employers. No one is responding to me! So, I need to think carefully about what else I can do and how I can do it without making enemies since I would not mind getting some more part-time work. But my ratty little brain is working all this over when I'm trying to get to sleep.

Tomorrow we will have to be up early because plumbers are coming. Our 20-year-old hot water heater started leaking last week and the plumbing company gave us the expected news that it must be replaced and there's some other work that needs to be done because it no longer meets code. So the same month that 6 month's worth of car insurance on both cars comes due, we also have a $1900 bill for the new water heater and all the plumbing work. :# I suppose I should be grateful that it lasted that long and that it's a slow leak that allowed us a few days to investigate the best products and get some quotes. But ouch!!

I hope that everyone and everyone's family and friends who have been sick are now feeling much better. Lois, I hope that having help with your MIL will make things better for all of you. Looking forward to updates and thinking of everyone and hoping that you all have a good day.

Happy Monday :) Had my trainer today, and she was a bit more tough than last week, especially on legs and glutes. Doing the moves put my heart rate up there, as leg training always does for me. I can tell I'm going to be feeling it tomorrow . . but I like that sore feeling that comes from weight training. (As long as it's not debilitating)

Sarah, I know what you mean about certain treats in the house. I'm more of a potato chips girl, lol. And once I get going on them, it's so hard to stop. I also like cookies. I think I like crunchy snacks . . they say that's a sign of unexpressed frustration and anger, ha ha ha! Haven't we all been frustrated for at least 2 years ?! :D

So, if I understand it right, you turned in your smart card, but they don't think you did? That's a tough one. How can you prove you did? Was there any receipt or anything given? I hope you can figure it out. Good luck with that and your plumbers. Replacement of appliances makes me crazy. They should just last longer, IMO. My mother had an old washer that lasted so long . . I think at least 25 years. What happened to those appliances?

We went to see our daughter, SIL, and granddaughters Sunday . . everyone is well and that baby is growing like a weed. She is so good and happy . . a very enjoyable baby. Daughter made chicken pot pie and salad. She's become quite the cook. SIL is all well. They're doing great.

I may have told you ladies about how our family likes to find a "who-dun-it" or some kind of show that we all watch, and then I make a game with prizes for the person who figures it out best. We've done it with Game of Thrones, Mare of Easttown, The Undoing, and others. We chose a new one on Apple TV, "The Afterparty" which is a who-dun-it and also a comedy and kind of a musical . . it sounds so weird, but it's really entertaining. I recommend it. At the end, I send the winner a "Not So Cheapo" prize and sometimes a boobie prize for a really dumb guess, lol. It's fun and gives us something to talk about on family zoom. We also do the daily "Wordle" puzzle. I was a bit unhappy to see that the New York Times bought it . . so soon it will need a subscription. You should try it while it's still free. ;)

    Happy Tuesday everyone!

Sarah - I feel for you and the chocolate covered raisins. They would be my downfall as well.. chocolate covered nuts or fruits are yummy. I'm sure they will locate your smartcard. UGH. but I hate when that happens. And I'll keep positive thoughts to a future part time gig again. We had to replace our waterheater a couple of years ago...ugh..stupid thing is like $500 but then to have it installed was $1k. Ridiculous. ugh. I feel for ya.

I'll ave to check out "afterparty Always looking for something to stream. I have not gotten on the wordle train. with your new info, I don't think I will at this time. I don't want to pay for it.

So MIL is still in hospital. The three centers we liked all denied her. During her evaluation, they felt she was not going to be up to doing all of the therapy required at the center. So now, we spent yesterday selecting skilled nursing facilities with therapy to give her a jump start. Hoping that will help her get motivated to want to move on her own and come home. She's still unable to move anything on the right side. She is also having bm incontinence issues that we're trying to understand. She's not buzzing to tell them she has to go, nor to tell them she went. So we're a bit confused on that one.

My daughter is coming in from Okinawa to visit for a couple of weeks. I've asked her to come when mom comes home, because then we can use the help getting her on schedule etc. but the flight plans didn't allow for that. I'm happy that she's coming home. So, she comes in next Thursday. Hopefully we'll have mom in a center by then. Every day it's a waiting game.

We went to see mom Sat and Sun. Sat I had the iPad and leaning over the bed rail so she could see the kids on FaceTime, I tweaked my back. So got into chiro yesterday. Today it's still a little tight, but I keep getting up and walking. Also, I took a pain pill on an empty stomach at 2am and had dry heaves at 6 and all morning. Had to take anti nausea med to stop that. So fun times at our house.

Hubby and I are recovering from the covid/upper respiratory infections. I think I told you but doc started me on steroids and another round of antibiotics last week and dang that has helped me. Hubby won't call his doc and he's still battling the cough.

We're still not eating regular foods. Still ordering the mezze platter from Pita Jungle and snacking on that over a couple of days. Good thing we don't mind eating the same thing every day...haha.

This weekend we are to have Rhea for two nights. Super looking forward to having her. She hasn't been over since Jan 9!! The day before we all got sick.

So when I was sick, I had ordered some UV room sanitizers. Well the wand is cool to do small items. The room ones are small and we're not quite sure they're strong enough to really do anything. And they're from China (I was super sick - and before MIL got ill when I ordered these so not a lot of research). Well hubby and I saw another unit on Amazon, so we bought that one. We've sterilized mom's room twice with it...haha...the upstairs room. And our room once. It is supposed to do 1k sf. But the shape of our room, you have to run it three times to get all areas. So tonight I'll run the other areas. I've become a huge germophobe. I've always been "clean' but not such a germophobe. Now it's clorox wipes - we use that *kitten* on everything...lol. I was doing more reading on the uv lamp, and apparently I have to cover the paintings and pictures. EEk. we have a wall following the staircase with a TON of photos. not sure I'll ever do the entryway..lol. Maybe block the stair side.
