Exercise: None! Too busy
Tracking: Tracked ALMOST everything - some nibbles snuck in there I think.
Calories: About right if estimates were correct and the nibbles weren't too bad (I KNOW that's not how to do it!)
Lost 0.5 pounds.
Today's another day of bad estimates as we have my daughter's 10th birthday party and there will definitely be a cupcake of who knows how many calories.
Monday I am going to begin to take this very seriously again...
How I fit things in when things are busy - Yesterday I did a bit of an audit of my morning and evening routines. I did figure out that I really can't fit everything in every day, but I do have time to do MommaStrong in the morning ~5 days a week and stretching in the evening ~4 days a week. I also have time to do a long check in here ~4 days a week - not every day. So some days you'll see me just pop in from my phone with a quick 3yeses or pass. I've resisted doing that out of an all-or-nothing mentality. I really like to fully engage here because I find it so beneficial. All of those habits I find beneficial - as well sitting with a warm washcloth over my eyes, which is what I am alternating with stretching. I just looked at the time and figured out I can't do everything daily and that is just going to have to be OK for now.
I also try to go for a daily walk and that is during work time. Sometimes I need to walk for work, so that's easy. But my work time, I draw up my calendar the week before. First I put in all the things that are already on my calendar - meetings and phone calls and trainings and often taking care of kids- often that's more than half the calendar already. Then I put in the work things I need to do every day (ex. 1 hour of emails) and time for lunch and snack and a walk. I usually walk right after lunch or right before or after snack. After that I block off time for actual work and decide what I will do. These days I have a somewhat flexible schedule so I work in the evening 2 nights a week to make time for the walks and often childcare during the workday. That has worked pretty well to get in a daily walk during the week.
Lately I have been making more of an effort to do a similar time blocking for the weekends. We always had done it for the kids, but I am trying to figure out what I can do too. But sometimes there just really isn't time for my stuff - like yesterday.
I do admit I envy those of you who are retired. I have a lot more time than I used to now that my kids are 10 and 6 and they go to school (unlike during the pandemic). But, not as much time as I would like to have. Oh well, do what I can now and when I have more time do more.2 -

@Caroline_slowandsteady It is difficult to fit in everything when you’re a working parent.

MadisonMolly2017 wrote: »Cowphilosopher wrote: »After saying yesterday that I want to spend the next 14 days focusing on consistency, I totally blew it today. It started with my partner making a "nice light breakfast" that I reckon was 1000 calories. Now, I had planned to have additional calories today to prep for a long ride tomorrow. But that was a LOT. Then we went out for lunch and the salad I was planning to have was not available. So I had a very disappointing and not worth the calories veggie curry with probably bottled sauce. Then I totally spiraled at dinner. Its midnight. I finished eating 5 hours ago and I am still so uncomfortably full that I'm considering skipping tomorrow's ride and that is how this spiral propagates.
This is probably 11 of 3 pass days.
@Cowphilosopher, I totally agree with @MadisonMolly2017 "YOU are the boss of what goes in your mouth"
This is the phrase I repeat to myself every time there is tempting stuff in front of me "People may offer me stuff but I am the BOSS of what goes in my mouth. Gone are the days when my parents/caregivers were the boss of what goes into my mouth!"
Why do you plan to spoil the next day based on what happen today?
I came across this post recently. I pray you find it helpful.4 -

A word that most of us are likely to say we know all too well.
What is a strategy you employ to keep you on track with your goals and healthy lifestyle even when life gets busy?
Thought provoking post, Ashley, ty!
Hmm, I didn't think I was overly successful at this, but as I think a bit on it I guess I have 3/4 main strategies for keeping a busy work week in check: meal prepping on Sunday, carefully thought out grocery shopping to allow for some quick meals and some calorie wise snacks & sweets, and lastly, utilizing my lunch hour to get some movement/exercise in. I also cook a lot of sheet pan meals during the work week; they cook quickly and can be prepared easily with minimal effort (especially if I've washed and prepped fresh vegetables ahead or if I use frozen); this also frees up time to do something else while it roasts in the oven instead of attending to the stove. I've done these things for so many years now that it's more of a habit, but in reality these are very successful strategies that I employ to help with a busy week and to eat nutritiously.
Yes to tracking and logging; no to staying in budget but I was only 58 calories over, so not too bad today.

@Jana_2020 Those are great suggestions, especially the one about sheet pan meals.2

Ty. Oh, one last thing that I discovered late in life: use parchment paper on those sheet pans--makes for a quick & easy clean up afterwards! So much better than foil: food doesn't stick to it and it's way more cost effective than foil.2 -

And buy the parchment paper in pre-cut sheets :-)1 -

Good tip ty! I can't believe I went for 45 years without ever using it! It's like the invention of sliced bread for me lol.1 -
@enlightenme3 & @Jana_2020 It cones in pre-cut sheets!?! On the lookout now! Hubby does all the washing up and is always grateful that I became a convert to using parchment on the baking sheets. But pre-cut sheets — truly would be greater than the invention of sliced bread. Thanks!0

Ok, seconding this comment!! WHAT??????? lol, first I'm hearing about it...
Great tips @Jana_2020 ... I too have been using my lunch hour for movement... it clears my head of work stress and it's also just an effective use of the time. Thanks for sharing!
