Could anyone recommend a sustainable carbs per day total, which will also aid exercise and help with diabetes type 2?
Cheers 🍻

I am a T2 diabetic and ate Keto with 5% carbs (20 grams or less) per day. I lowered my A1c from 7.2 to 5.3 in 3 months.

The other 2 posters aren't wrong. 20g or less will definitely get you there quickly. But it depends on what works for you. Do you respond more to gradual changes or can you easily go whole hog? And can you sustain it?

If the gradual approach is more your speed, try to start with 100g total carbs daily. Then see how that starts working on your numbers. You may need to go lower if that isn't enough of a drop to affect your BG numbers. But that's a good number to start with to start adapting habits to a low-carb lifestyle. If that's not enough, then after a month or so drop to 75g and then 50g if you have to.

Yes, what @baconslave said. I bet if you added up a typical meal before you decided to change your way of eating, your carb grams would be well over 200. I did mine once using MFP food data base. Entered what I would eat on a normal day and my carbs were around 420 per day. So before I even went full-on keto, I went down to around 100 grams/day. After a couple of weeks, decreased it to 75, then to 50. By then, I was more used to it and dropping down to 20 or under was fairly easy. But I like eggs and meat.
