We meet here to explore, share, celebrate and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.

This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!

Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion.

Today's Topic: Mysteries to you. Is there a thing or two you feel is a mystery about your weight journey? Good luck this may be a mind provoking topic.

There are many mysterious elements to weight management. Calories in/Calories Out is a simple equation
that does not cover all the facts. Sustaining the journey day-in/day-out is a mysterious task and the approaches to maintain it shift over time, while the basic principles stay the same,

It WAS a thought-provoking subject. Here are some answers - or opinions.
    • Why ISN’T weight loss linear? Why are my actions somehow disconnected from my results in time?
    • Why isn’t the possession of knowledge and skills a guarantee on the execution of a plan?
    • Where does motivation or commitment go when it goes away? Is life a zero-sum game where I have to lose motivation for someone else to gain it?
    • Why is the food we like the best the food that’s the worst for us?

The biggest mystery in my weight journey is me, myself, & I? The list is most likely endless as to the damage I can do to myself. Once the damage has been done I have to figure out why I did what I did! then concentrate on creating a plan to undo the damage I did to myself in the first place.

There that's one mystery that's just about cleared up NOT!.
