Well, a little improvement, which is good considering my foot. I'm trying to stay off it, but it's so hard to do that. Hubby had cataract surgery yesterday, and my trainer came on Monday . . . she gave me a great workout with no weight bearing on that foot. So, I've done a couple of "chair cardio" workouts from YouTube and one weight training with her. On Easter, I made a really easy pork roast meal and daughter and her family came to dinner. I let hubby clean up.
On Easter I didn't eat except for the dinner. Fasting seems to work for me, especially on high calorie meal days, like holidays. The baby is starting to scoot and get up on her knees . . . time to baby proof the house once again.
Sarah, I was wondering whether you've had your thyroid levels checked lately. I think it's really hard to regulate thyroid medication. That's the only thing that would make sense as to why you aren't reducing when you're in calorie deficit and getting so much activity. Otherwise, just keep doing what you're doing with activity and it will eventually happen. And, your weight is not bad at all. That's what my trainer keeps telling me. I have to work to maintain, too. It's hard.
Kelly, I hope your cold is over. I think mine took almost 2 weeks to go away. I tested twice for Covid, but it wasn't that. Small blessings. Winter is just not giving up here either. I think the low pressure/high pressure swings are making me and my daughter have headaches. Crazy weather.
Lois, my SIL in Phoenix is getting adjusted to her loss with 2 steps forward, and 1 back it seems. I think that's the norm, and I'm sure you and your hubby are experiencing similar. Movement can really help, I think. I hope you're finding ways to care for yourself.

Maintaining is not gaining – So YAY! I will take that as a win. With hubby gone last weekend, I thought I did fairly well, until Saturday. My daughter Audrey came over and we ate – not so great. And with it being Easter weekend, and not having bought ANY Easter candy, thought about Rhea coming by on their way home and so we ordered candied apples from Rocky Mountain Fudge Company. Audrey and I split one apple. I attempted to send another at least ½ an apple with Audrey but she slipped out the door without taking the apple I had in the Ziploc for her. BRAT! Sunday, my son texted that Rhea was in meltdown so they weren’t stopping, they were going to push through and just go home, so waaaaaahhh!!! And then Seg didn’t come home until 10:45pm so waaaaahhh…. We’re still eating candied apples….
Way back in 2003 or 2004 I was in an accident and hit at an angle. Ever since, my SL joint slips out just from simply scooting my chair in, or bending. This has happened even when my muscles were nice and strong as well as when they’re weak. I settled for pennies without realizing I was going to need adjustments for life. I saw my primary yesterday for my back. Instead of doing chiro adjustment, we did flex/stretching. Still in pain today, but after icing this morning, I’m hoping to have more mobility. I see him again next Tuesday. Also still taking the Celebrex and muscle relaxers. The Celebrex makes me very thirsty and cotton mouthy. I didn’t take it when I was alone, but I am now that Seg is home. No activity but sitting on ice pads in the recliner.
Working at wrapping up Mom’s estate still….so many little pieces and parts. And it really made me think of our stuff, so now I’m working on wrapping up a living trust for us as well. UGH.
I reached out to my old trainer and touched base. We’ll be talking in the next week or so about coming up with a program. I don’t have the energy to find someone new and I’m hoping we can figure out something. However, her two girls have graduations coming up – one from college and the other from high school and other high school senior stuff. It may be end of May before we have a good schedule, which is ok by me with the other stuff I have going on.
My little brother called last night to let me know that my older step brother was in the hospital as he had a heart attack yesterday afternoon and they installed a stent due to blockage. Their mom nor dad had heart issues, so we’re all thinking weight and stress. He is a banker and apparently his bank had been robbed at gunpoint prior to him arriving, but one of his close co-workers was actually held at gunpoint during the robbery and after he consoled them and calmed them, went into his office. We found out that my brother’s been seeing a cardiologist and had nitro. Drove himself to the hospital when 2 nitros didn’t help. I had texted and reached out to my trainer PRIOR to this phone call, but as we’re all discovering, it’s a scary kind of time right now with struggles and losses. So that’s where we are.
Kelly, I’m glad you didn’t get too much more snow AND that you’re suffering from a good old-fashioned cold. It sounds nice to hear some normalcy. Sorry to hear about the kid’s mom tho. The kid’s hockey stuff sounds fun. Stuff we used to do as kids (but football or kickball, not hockey). Stay focused on your meals and intake. You’re doing WONDERFUL!
Sheesh – yikes!!! I know our shoes break down but the fact you’ve been working out with a fracture for so long. Please heed the dr and keep it easy. Glad to hear everyone is well after your travels. I love my Hoka’s. I didn’t like them when I was “running” or trying to anyway, I felt it took too much pressure to kick off. I LOVE them for general walking and when I’m going to be standing for longer timelines. They feel so supportive and my legs and back don’t hurt after. I love Brooks for my workouts and intense walking and Saucony for the trail. Hubby wants to hit the trail with me, so we may be headed out there sometime soon some super early morning. We’re in summer heat already. The AC is running.
Sarah – EEEK about the fire! Keep up the activity. Great job on getting the burn numbers up!
I'm adding to Sheesh's so we don't have to worry about two posts. And I can't delete the other...ugh0 -

(Sigh) But my experience is that my weight does fluctuate, and sometimes for no discernable reason. I've had weeks when I knew that my intake was too high and that my sugar and fat was off the scale--and yet I would lose. Sheesh, my thyroid level was fine when it was checked a month ago. I get it checked every 3 months, so if I'm still having issues with maintain or losing, I'll mention it when I go back in June.
My 7-day averages are a little bit off--primarily because I did not walk at all on Easter. I either stood in the kitchen cooking and washing dishes, was in the car, or at our friends' house. I had planned to TM walk that evening, but we were caught behind two different accidents on the way home and were late getting in. By that time, I had no gas in my tank and the car didn't either!
Kelly, regular colds and stomach viruses are going around in our community, too. Hope you and Shawn are feeling much better. You have been doing so well and that’s inspiring for the rest of us.
Lois, I sure hope your back gets better soon. Making plans for activity at the end of May sounds good to me. That will let you have time to work on the back and take care of all the financial stuff, but have something nailed down to help you refocus when the time comes. And that reminds me that I need to be better at making appointments. For some reason, I will postpone making appointments of any kind. I used to blame it on work, but really—it’s just me and I need to change that.
Sheesh, I hope the foot is doing well, and you’re amazing for making sure that you get some activity in spite of it. Hope your hubby’s cataract surgery went well. I am almost looking forward to cataract surgery since they can now correct both nearsightedness and farsightedness, but my doc says I’m about 4 or 5 years away from needing it.
Well dinner is ready and the ballgame beckons. I will come back later to put in my stats and goal for this week.

Good morning, all. Before the day gets away from me, I thought I'd post my stats and goals, and make a commitment to you all to make at least one of those appointments and one of those calls that have been caught in my procrastination web!
My 7-day averages were:
Steps = 11,966
Stairs = 12 floors
Kcals burned = 1,747
All of these except stairs were a little less than last week's averages.
I only hit my 1,800 daily burn goal on 3 days, so my goal for next week is 5 days. I did that week before last, so it's doable. My other goal remains watching the between meal snacking. I'm having a hard time with that at night. It might be because we go to bed so late. I need to work on that, too. Getting up at 8 or 8:30 a.m. makes the morning go by too fast. Any tips for handling the snacking urge?
Thinking of you all and all that you're juggling and sending positive thoughts your way for a productive and enjoyable Friday Eve!0 -

Not surprising but it's better than what the scale said yesterday (158 something). I haven't been working out as hard as I had been, as I still can't seem to catch my breath. It's over 2 weeks now since I got sick and I'm mostly better, but still have that lingering tickle in my throat that makes me want to cough to try to clear my throat and, like I said, my breaths just aren't the same quite yet. I'll get there. I'm still getting my exercise in every day. I'm back to waking up at 5am to do my workouts.
It's been difficult around here and our schedule has been so off. With the kid's Mom still testing positive, they haven't been able to be at her place, so we've had them full time. We're used to not having them from Saturday night until Wednesday after school, so it's been a long week for all of us lol They miss their Mom and Shawn and I miss our alone time. It's been all kid stuff, all the time.
Fasting works well for me too Sheesh. I usually have a few days a week where my first meal is lunch or a later lunch. I listen to my body though and if I'm super hungry and water/coffee just isn't cutting it, then I'll have something in the mornings.
My goal for this week is to definitely drink more water. I don't think I had a sip of regular water yesterday at all! That's not good.
Our weather this weekend is another yucky one. Another Colorado Low is hitting us. It was snowing this morning, but it's mostly supposed to be huge amounts of rain all weekend. They even said a potential fo thunderstorms, which is weird when there is still snow on the ground. This won't be good for our already saturated ground and for the areas that already have some flooding, it'll just get worse. We're supposed to head to my parents on Saturday for a late Easter Dinner. We're actually ordering Chinese Food and Pizza (it's our thing when we all get together), so that'll be a heavier meal for sure. My Brother and his kids are staying at my parents this weekend, so it'll be good to get us all together, as long as the roads are good enough to travel.
Have a good weekend all!

Sarah - great job in getting in the movement and making your commitments. Let's get it done!!
Kelly - I can understand the stress, but super duper proud of you to get up at 5am to get your workout in. Keep that movement going! Safe travels to your parents and have fun.
We get to go see Rhea tomorrow. We haven't seen her since we left California for mom's services. Almost a month!! I was supposed to spend the night tomorrow and then bring her home for an overnight. Unfortunately, hubby has something mid day tomorrow and with my back, I don't want to be alone with her for 5 hours+. That might give you an idea of the pain and discomfort in my back. I'm giving up Rhea time due to the pain. UGH. So, hubby and I will go over tomorrow and he'll leave me at their house while he does his stuff. When he's done, we'll go out to dinner with them (or order in) and visit until Rhea has to go to bed.0 -
Happy Monday morning Ladies!
I'm hoping everyone had a great weekend...Kelly - did you get to see your parents?
We did get some brief Rhea time this weekend. Not enough, but some. I think I mentioned that I will be a permanent remote working through 2022 and into 2023 until some new office space is remodeled. So hubby and I worked on my office area to be able to house more materials I need from the office (I'm heading in Wednesday for company meeting and then to clean out most of my office area for a new person). Anyway, with that, I also ordered a new desk and monitor arms. I invested in the electric standing desk...went mongo at 6' x 33 inches. So far I'm loving the desk. The arms are giving me a bit of a headache so I'm working through that. ANyhow, with my back out and getting my new desk set up, we only got to visit her for a couple of hours. Hubby only about 45 mins as he had a class for his tkd stuff over by their house so he dropped me off. Gosh she's growing so dang fast.
Hubby and I were talking about his calendar for his TKD promotion stuff. And given how sad I was to be alone while he was in Vegas, I am scheduling a mini vacay for myself either with Rhea's family to San Diego or I'm going to offer to take my other daughter (Audrey) to San Diego and just hang at the beach or do Midway tour or something as an early bday present to us (we're a day apart in July). I don't want to be alone for 6 days again...too sad. The house is too quiet.
I didn't order groceries again this week. It will be another DoorDash week. With getting the office area re set up and planning repurposing of Rhea's room (moving the twin from downstairs to her room and the queen to my office area and then discussing a possible murphy bed since the space isn't big enough to keep the bed down and made with the office stuff - oh geez). So planning a reorganization of space was so darn time consuming. But hubby wants an area to workout in and our bedroom houses the TM, elliptical, spin bike and rower, there's no room for floor work and that's what he needs to focus on. Plus upstairs has carpet and downstairs is 100% tile in all areas. So a twin in Rhea's room is the right move to not impact his space. My son was excited to hear the queen bed was coming down. Now, when we have other guests in the upstairs room and Rhea in hers (his old room) and he and Clar stay the night, they won't be relegated to the couch or an air mattress. The downside to the murphy bed is we may not be able to close the door once the bed is down. That's what is holding us up on pulling the trigger. And it's twice as expensive to go with the landscape mode of a murphy bed. First world problems, I know. But with all of that going on, I also had a lot of ice time on the recliner. The back is still painful, but I think I'm moving a bit more. When it hurts, it really hurts. I have been taking Celebrex every morning and then Advil a couple of times throughout the day and that's been helping. I see the doc again tomorrow so fingers crossed I'll feel better after we do his adjustment. And I have been doing most of the stretching exercises he gave me, a couple hurt too dang bad getting into position that I haven't done them.
Ok.. Report is done running...back to work. Have a great day0 -
Well, it sounds like everyone has been super busy, and it's no different at my house. Our OR daughter had a girls trip planned, but it fell through when her friend the trip was for (birthday trip) got Covid from her son, and then on to her husband as well. Everyone canceled to wait for her recovery, but daughter decided to come visit us and hold the baby. Then, daughter and family here (living 40 minutes away) decided to stay for the weekend for more fun time with her. So, we ended up having guests for the weekend, lol. It was a fun, impromptu visit Thurs through Sun.
Of course, the food intake was off plan, and I don't think I'll have any reduction tomorrow for weigh in. Monday started off right with my trainer doing another non weight bearing workout. My foot is fine, but when I forget and take a normal step it still hurts. I just hope the doc will give me the green light, but that apt isn't until May 11th. Today, hubby and I took the day off to rest from all the activity, and went to a movie. We're going to start back on our old Tuesday date day and go out more. Of course, with popcorn and the usual movie treats taken in and little activity, I'm going to have to pay even more attention.
Lois, good luck with all the moving and reorganizing. I don't know how you can rest your back with all that happening, but I hope you can take care of yourself.
Sarah, your activity is so good . . I'm very impressed with you keeping that going. The night time snacking is a problem for me too. I've used a few techniques before that work pretty well. . Chewing sugar free sweet gum, having a zero sugar root beer (no coke as it keeps me awake) and telling myself that's my treat, flossing and brushing my teeth before settling in to watching television or reading, closing out my food logging for the day. Those have worked well, but I must confess I haven't been doing them lately, lol.
Kelly, good luck with the continued winter and wet weather. We continue with similar. But, we need the water, so early spring storms are welcome here especially since we've had dry winters the last few years. Hopefully, spring and summer will get here soon, and we will be able to go out for walks. I have two lovely 3 mile routes by my house without having to drive, and I can't wait to get back out there. (Send good thoughts for my foot to heal!) Meanwhile, I'm soooo happy that you're keeping up with your early morning commitment to getting activity done. Summer will come, and you'll be shorts ready!
One last thing happened on Saturday night. While I was out with my daughters, in walked Roger Stone with his bodyguards and goons, and were seated at a table near us. My girls were sneaking photos, and I said I ought to confront him. They concurred, and so when they were leaving, I did confront him while my younger daughter took video. He was in Utah to do a rally for a guy running far right of the already far right incumbent Congressman in the Repub. Primary. He and his group are scary. His bodyguard was wearing a (I kid you not) black leather cowboy hat and full length black leather overcoat. I'm sure there was a gun under there. Anyway, I said my piece to him, and tweeted the video.0
