@DD265 and Terytha
You are both on the support team for the moment - let me know if you want to be back on the regular team as of Sunday for the June go around. No problem if you are not ready for the weekly weigh-ins, just let me know. Thanks!
I'll go back on the regular team please - and I'll keep my weigh in day as a Monday.2 -

I was really hopeful that I would hit the 220's today but I think McDonald's ruined that. Wasn't my best week as far as stress and exercise went. Definitely needed my sleep supplement all week and still didn't sleep like normal. Things should calm down with a 3 day weekend and next week no kids at school for conference week. I can catch up on work and hopefully my husband will decide if he is applying for an open position at his old building. My 1st grader has either my husband or another teacher subbing in for the rest of the year so that is good. We had a good chat with the superintendent on Tuesday. He has some things on his radar now and our one wish from the situation is no first grader should ever have this experience again. Our kids experience was unfortunately not unique and the whole batch had a bummer of a year. Summer is 3 weeks away!5 -

Great! Just send me an updated start weight, something like what it might have been this past Monday.0 -

Thanks @conleywoods for all that detail. Definitely fascinating to think of the complex science behind it. Appreciate it.
We are at the airport waiting to board our flight to Vancouver. We have a concert, some meal reservations, and a challenging hike planned. I haven't been to Vancouver in almost a decade so Brad and I have also never been together. So excited!4 -
@conleywoods thanks for sharing that! I vaguely knew the benefit/thinking behind hiit workouts but never had it broken down like that.
It's muggy here today and temperatures are climbing. I once again had trouble falling asleep and thus, overslept this morning. I'm just too wired at night. The heat doesn't help as I like it to be 64-66 degrees in the room and we're hovering near 70 (I refuse to put the AC on this early. I'm cheap!) But, I got my hill walk in and decided to do a little literal test run on my foot - jogging some of the downhill part and then the rest of the way (mostly flat) home. Walking up the stairs to my apartment after, I felt a little twinge in the foot but nothing major and icing now. I would be ecstatic to add jogging back in.
Workout for today is going to be a new video on fiton called Yogilates with one of my favorite trainers. I have some work to do at my desk, and packing for the short weekend trip to NY once my laundry is done.3 -

@jugar CW: 182.
It seems likely that a new lower-decade number will be here next week. I’ll keep walking and making good food choices and see what’s what then!
More on the flip.

@Kali225 turn on the AC!!! Lol, I think ours has been running since April, and I live north of you! Of course our electricity is not expensive so it isn't a deterrent, and like you, we like a cold bedroom of 18-19°C (65°F) for sleeping.
@conleywoods I loved that hiit breakdown. Thanks! Hopefully next week smooths out for you.2 -
Evening all. Brad and I had a great first day in Vancouver. We are staying downtown so after our plane landed we grabbed the train, stopped for lunch and then walked to our hotel to drop our bag. We then set out and did a bunch more walking along the Sea Wall and over to Stanley Park and back before our supper. At supper my stomach started getting SUPER funky.. like just very unpleasant, so that wasn't ideal as the whole reason we are here is for a concert that was tonight. Anyway, made it to the concert, had a bad go with my tummy for the opening acts, but rallied through and enjoyed the headliner. By the time we walked back to the hotel we were almost at 30,000 steps for the day. Living in Airdrie (just outside Calgary), we don't walk many places.. everything has to be accessed by car for the most part, so I like when I'm in a city where it feels very walkable. Of course it would be more like that if we lived in inner city Calgary, but we left that behind years ago.
I had a big food day. I actually don't enjoy that the way I used to, so that's positive. Still enjoy food of course - big time - but don't enjoy the feeling of eating too much. I never felt SUPER full or anything, but it was just more than was necessary. Vacation, am I right?
I don't think that had anything to do with my stomach actually, as that sort of started as I was eating.. not really sure but just thankful I was able to stay through the concert.
Tomorrow should be full of lots more fun! Time to go rest up so we can do it again.4 -

Everything OK, Sam? Missing your news!0 -
Well, after two weeks in "free" mode and the general sloppiness of "guess" mode, I'm back onto the regular team for this month. I went over my top maintenance weight for the past 2 weeks, so them's the rules.
I'm aiming for .5-1 pound loss per week to get back to the realm. As we all do, I know what to do and how to do it. Now I just have to do it, right? I have been complacent and confident in my ability to fake it, which often works, but more vigilance is required!4 -
@jugar
I have seen this twice for you now and it's a really important example for me of why keeping an eye on things long term is such an important thing if we want to have a pulse on our weight and keep it on track.
You always know where things are at, and when life piles on a bit (for a fun reason this time- which is good!) you are right on top of reacting to it.
Thanks for being such a great inspiration and motivator for our team. We are lucky to have the best captain of all!
Gonna see if I can grab a bit more sleep as yesterday was quite the day.
Rooftop bunch at 11 and then we will see if we do our fitness challenge item... will depend on how Brad is feeling as he is not a big steps guy so that 30K would be a lot on him. So proud!4 -

Good week overall! This coming week includes birthdays and friends visiting the next 2 weekends. Hopefully, I don't go too crazy with food!4 -
@jagar The McDonald's situation seems to have leveled off and I dropped a pound today. Can you change my new current weight to 229.0. Thanks!4

@jugar
Is there a protocol to how we should weigh in. I noticed my weights are very different before and after exercise. Being consistent in how you weigh yourself would be best, but wondering if there was a criteria for the group to weighing in I didn’t know about. Thanks in advance💫0 -

This is a great question. There is no criteria whatsoever, but there are several general practices, all left up to personal choice. I think most people aim for first thing in the morning before eating on the weigh-in day. Some people like to weigh in every day but then make an average for the week, on their chosen day. Some may be a bit more random but as long as the weight is on the right day, it can be before or after eating, exercise, whatever time works best.
I agree with you that there can be some rather large swings during any given day, so pick a time that works for you and stick with it for a while so that you see the progress in the most consistent way possible. There is also no shame in waiting a day after a wild indulgence to see if things can settle down a bit.
There is one thing that is clear no matter the method, though - if you are losing weight, even if it is uneven from week to week, the general trend will be losing. If you are hovering around the same weight for weeks on end, you are not. If you are gaining gradually over a few weeks, you are gaining. There is no timing than can change the longer trends.
In short - experiment! Try some different things, and see what works for you.1 -
Hang in there sisters @kellie_erin and @bonnie_red - there are tough weeks like this one, but you'll pick back up as soon as possible!
I had a bumbly rainy day and did not move much. I sure made progress on some grant applications, though, so at least that is not plaguing me so terribly! I hate writing grants, love doing the projects when they get funded. Kind of like losing weight - it is not fun eating completely on plan, tracking everything, making the budgets and doing the hard thinking - but the result is a blast!
June? Let's do this starting tomorrow!2 -
-
@ashleycarole86
Thanks for your kind words - hope you are having a blast out there in Vancouver! Enjoy every second.2 -
It's been a humid day with a fabulous downpour in the middle and the temp then kindly dropped 20 degrees. Thanks!
My food choices have been good including a real maple soft serve in a tiny cone (baby cone). My daughter and I bought some veggies and flowers for the gardens which we'll all plant over the next couple of days (including bok choy and tomatoes).
I'm noticing my body feeling stronger and even though my weight hasn't followed suit, I'm confident that June will be a good month of steady weight loss. I'm ready to blast through the next "decade" and by summer's end be closer to my goal of 150. Gaining muscle is the next big thing whilst increasing walking and swimming/exercise. Happy end of May!4 -
Today's weight is
218.9 lbs 🙈
Sorry team for late weigh in yet again 🤦🙈☺️4 -

A gain, but at least it’s better than yesterday.
@conleywoods Thanks for that explanation on Sugar and HIIT and the encouragement. It was really clear. I definitely need to cut back on sugar and increase my heart rate by doing HIIT. Now to find something I like.
Hoping June is better than April and May.4
