This is a seriously inspiring team.So I plan to cut back on carbs, eat more veggies, drink lots more water and walk more.For the past several months I have been approaching my weigh-in day as "this is the day to cheat because you have the most time to make up for it before the next weigh-in." This thinking was predicated on the idea that I was going to binge at some point, so better to get it out of the way. It was also any easy way out. Once I started bingeing, the all-or-nothing thinking kicked in, and then it was time to give up because I had already ruined the week.
But these things are in my control. I've got about 100lbs to lose ahead of me. And yes, I am going to binge at some point. I'm going to have bad days. Cheat days. Vacations, family parties. But the habits can be broken.
Oh man, that is the familiar pattern. I still do this even in maintenance! But then the "free" days spread... Thanks for the reminder that these things are in our control. They are! Wow. Two days of work in a row. Wild times! I like having shorter days as a part time worker. I haven’t worked since March 17, 2020.
@jugar I’m interested in the zoom call on Saturday and can set up a space and send out the info. There’s a chance I won’t be able to be on very long because of Tom Barefoot’s memorial service is set for that day in Waitsfield.
More on that tomorrow.

Wow! It’s hard getting back on track while enjoying so many foods I missed while out of the area. Diners! That was today. I had a yummy spinach feta omelette, but only ate some of the hash browns. Diner coffee is so good!!!
Made sure I surpassed my 8,000 steps today, but no specific workout. My water was off today. Mostly, I had coffee. I know that’s not good. Tomorrow I will focus more on drinking that water. Maybe I should measure it out and really look at it. 8 cups. 64 ounces. More if possible. I wonder what difference I’d see if I actually got 80 ounces a day for the rest of the week?
I know this post menopausal skin is scaring me. I read women loose something like 80% of their estrogen within one year of hitting menopause. Wonder if water will help at all??
I did log my food at the end of the day after I ate a cupcake 🧁 🫤 Maybe tomorrow I need to log as I go. It may stop me from that later night sweet snack. @jugar I remember you saying once you eliminate sugar, the cravings are less intense. I was doing pretty well and now that I’ve been eating way too many sweet things, I want them. Need to stop that. Besides, I don’t want diabetes.
@jugar @DD Your gardens are amazing!! So jealous and missing my garden in NC. Some day, I’ll have one again. I will plant tomatoes.
I will try and make the video call. Love seeing you all live. I do have an event at my new (old) school from 11-3 so maybe I’ll go after the Zoom.

Thanks @jugar for answering @MoonlitMuse on the animal part specifically. Your experience with horses and that community makes you way more qualified to speak on it than me, that's for sure.

I had a long leadership summit at work today, but they gave us a 40 minute break and I made sure to pop out for a walk. The weather is nice so I really enjoyed getting out with the dog after work as well. Brad has been out biking outdoors with a couple of his friends. We both collapse into bed at the end of the night - this going to the office is for the birds!!! I just can't remember feeling this busy in a long time, lol.
Nice catching up with everyone... good progress @Kali225 and @DD265 I am looking forward to hearing about your binge eating therapy session.
@jugar @Kali225 Brad has the same vibe - he saves special meals and bigger eating for Thursday and likes to do a big workout Wednesday night. He's all about that Thursday morning team weigh-in4 -
Good Morning,
So yesterday wasn't great, I was within my calories, but I woulda been better had I not decided to have that bag of smart popcorn. It was only 100 calories, and according to MFP I had enough, but mentally it wasn't good for me... WHY did I feel the need to eat it, I can tell you exactly why... I went to do my strength training, everything was going good, until I got to planks. I could not hold a plank for more than 8 seconds... I used to be able to do a minute with no issue. Now I can't even do 8 seconds. It was extremely disheartening...
I texted my husband and told him, and he reminded me that it was only 6 months ago I had major surgery where they cut the muscles in my lower back around my spine, and this is really my 1st try at actual strength training, so that made me feel a bit better, but it was still very disappointing. Anyway, I finished the rest, and it wasn't too bad, just certain things are very hard, and I gotta find a more comfortable floor. lol... I guess there is only one thing to do to get over this, and it's to keep doing it, because I won't get stronger by crying over it will I ?
This morning I was supposed to do 20 min video, I only got a 10 min one done. I overslept. I didn't sleep good last night, I kept waking up coughing, I think allergies are causing some post nasal drop that irritates my throat when I lay down. I thought I was past this, so I stopped taking my allergy spray a couple of weeks ago, I was wrong...
I will make it up tonight, and do 20 min video and 20 min yoga... I think tonights yoga will be restorative. I am also thinking I need to re-adjust and maybe put 2 rest days in a week. I am not the person I was a year ago apparently...
Ya'lls gardens are awesome, I want a garden. I would grow Kohlrabi... Tons and tons of it.. You can't find that in stores here, and the one that does carry it, charges $4.09 for 2 bulbs... outrageous !
I don't have a green thumb, I've tried little gardens, and they just never work out. So I am jealous of you all, please continue sharing.
I will not be able to do the video call on Saturday, I have a movie date with the hubby at 12.50pm, and we are planning on going to the park for a nice long walk before hand, so I will be out the majority of the morning and afternoon. I will make it one day, we should make it like a thing the first weekend of every month or something like that.
OH GUESS WHAT CAME YESTERDAY..... my new weekly journal ! So I can write down my plans , and then reward myself with stickers... Now if I can just find my book of stickers.. Super silly I know, but darn it , it worked last time.

@jugar I'd like to delay my weigh in until tomorrow please. I overindulged in super salty food last night as we went to my mom's so she wouldn't be alone on her first wedding anniversary since my dad's death this winter. It has affected the scale more than I'm willing to accept. A perfect day with lots of water will hopefully steer the ship back in the right direction.2

@Gidgitgoescrazy your husband and the kind side of your self talk are right! Core includes the back, and planks work both. One nice fact, though, is that abs build strength fast If your back has trouble with planks, keep those short and do some hollow body holds or other back-lying goodies to work the abs so that they support the back even better. You'll get there!
@ashleycarole86 you and Brad are doing great at keeping up the exercise even while going back to in-person work, commuting, and all that fun stuff. No wonder you fall into bed and at night!

First day of my new job! I'm overwhelmed but cautiously optimistic. My neighbours decided they wanted a rave at 3:30 this morning so I'm more tired than I wanted to be. But my husband lost his s**t at them and they shut up. My husband hates confrontation so I was very impressed and relieved.3

The past few days have been good! I tracked everything I ate and stayed within my calorie limits! I am finally starting to feel better after my cold/allergies and look forward to getting back to the gym tomorrow.
@jugar @DD265 your gardens are beautiful! That allotment is bigger than what I had in mind for what you were talking about.
@jugar I would be interested in a video chat Saturday!
@MoonlitMuse I live near Greensboro, NC which is halfway between the mountains and the beach. We usually head to the beach on vacations but I love the mountains as well. Asheville is beautiful!
@Kali225 I do the same thing on my weigh-in days too. Like I have a whole week ahead of me to work this off. But I agree, sometimes it can be a slippery slope and lead me to binging.3 -
@DD265 Wow! They gave you a huge spot! That is so awesome and great work. @jugar Looking good in your spot too! What is the purpose of the winter rye? Does it add a certain nutrient to the soil?
@Gidgitgoescrazy You will be back to your normal fit self in time. Your body went through some serious stuff during surgery. Hang in there!

@ashleycarole86 I'm sorry you had to go back to the office. You will adjust and figure it out. Look at all of the huge changes you have been able to make. You will find a way to make it work. Hugs!

@Kali225 I don't end up doing a full free for all on weigh in day but I certainly don't think twice about what take out I get for date night on that day! I usually run a ton of errands and clean the house on weigh in day. I'm usually really busy and put off eating that day and then grab something from a box or bag real quick. Not the best habit. Right now I'm working on pre planning date night and making the rest of that day fit my macros.
Today I hit my macro and calorie goals. I also did a weight lifting full body workout. The app I use for my coach gives extra information on my workouts. It's really motivating to see it give stats of lifting volume for specific exercises when I bump up the weight. Way more fun than calculating that by hand😆5 -
So glad to hear we have a good crowd building for the video chat on Saturday. For those that can't make it, look forward to catching you next time. This is such an inspiring group of people, and I get something from what each of you provide!
@conleywoods You are in your flow girl! What's your favorite weight lifting exercise? Same question to you @lauren_989 ... what's got you excited to get back into the gym to work on? Have fun.. glad the allergies are clearing up!

I can do this bad boy now, and hold it for a decent amount of time! Far cry from the girl who was building up to one full body push-up, eh @jugar ? This one is fun for me because I used to be a very strong and flexible little kid and I remember doing this all the time in gymnastics...
... which gets me thinking... maybe attempting full splits is next!
-10 push-ups daily
-minimum of 64 oz of water (doesn't include cans of sparkling water, coffee, tea, etc.)
-my next FTP (functional threshold power) test on the Peloton is coming up this weekend so I've been diligently completing my training rides
-keeping work stress down
-10,000 steps a day (not including other exercise equivalents) ... realizing at the office this is much easier and I've done it 9 days in a row now... got a mini streak going and loving to keep it up for as long as I can!

Chase the handstand @ashleycarole86! We were working on them in the 'throw legs up and catch yourself' kind of way, but I'd prefer the more controlled lift from a plank like that.
@kellie_erin I am glad your first day went ok even if you were low on sleep.

@lauren_989 @conleywoods yes it feels like a huge space. I think we may not grow anything on the banking behind, though I am tempted to clear it and wildflower seed it, eventually. Can't go wrong with wildflowers!
I had the first binge eating therapy session after work last night; it was an assessment really. She agrees that I do have a binge eating disorder, and we'll try to tackle both that and some of the unreasonable standards/shoulds-musts that I hold myself to. I said to OH last night that perhaps thinking of it as an illness that needs managing (and TLC!) rather than just a failure on my part to practise self control could be the mindset shift I need to move forwards.
Work has been a little quieter but we've still had a busy week. We'd just sat down to watch TV last night, when I spotted something on FB marketplace locally and raced off to buy OH some road plates to go with the modular building Lego sets. I've no fixed plans for the weekend and OH is working a lot of it so looking forward to pottering. There's lots I'd like to get done as always, but yesterday and today I'm a little under the weather so I will take it steady.7 -

I too use my weigh-in day as a bit of a cheat day but this week got a bit out of hand with post-boat arrival celebrations and other events.
I'm back on track now.
I bought myself a pair of cute jean shorts since I finally feel good enough to show my knees in public and based in the size chart on the website I had to order a 2XL still.... Well, they arrived and they're the equivalent of a size 8 in Canada. So I'll be lucky if they fit my teenager. So much for that! Return shipping isn't worth it so I will be passing those along and maybe going to the mall to purchase items I can verify that fit. ohh well!4
