I really don't mind treading water.
Treading water burns calories, builds endurance and strengthens your heart health. Depending on your weight, fitness level and workout duration and intensity, you can burn roughly 300 to 450 calories (or even more!) treading water for 30 minutes. www.livestrong.com3 -
We squeaked our way to #3 for Week 1 - well done! If only metaphorical treading water burned as many calories as actually treading water! Our past week would have been brilliant. But we'll keep aiming higher, right?
I cleared more garden beds and planted more little seeds this morning, and the plants I started indoors are getting their first short outing as they gradually get ready for transplanting at the very end of the month. They are looking great! I'm thinking of your potatoes @DD265 and maybe will plant some next year. I'll have to find a good location to put them - the regular garden space is all spoken for. Are potatoes picky about their soil? I have lots of soil that we dredged out of the pond last year, and it has been spread over a large sunny area. It might be good for things like potatoes.
OK - keeping up with @Gidgitgoescrazy and @YinxFed here is my exercise plan for the week:
Monday - kettlebell and Pilates (10-15 min. each), 45 min. exercise bike, the usual steps
Tuesday - 30 minutes Pilates, 45 exercise bike (if I have finished packing in time)
Wednesday - travel day. Leaving home at 4:30 am, then lots of car, airport hanging about, flying, more car. Then I'll walk around to see all the horses and our dear Emmett!
Thursday - horseback riding! If I can still walk afterwards, steps and stretching
Friday and Saturday - more horse stuff, Pilates, lots of walking.
Kind of vague because I won't be home, but helping with horse chores, lunging, riding, and goofing around with all the Army folks should keep me moving.

How is it Sunday afternoon already? Ah yes, because I cannot break this habit of napping the days away! Had some really poor eating this weekend, so no longer optimistic about a green weigh-in on Tuesday. Very frustrating since I felt like mentally last Tues/Wed/Thurs I was doing really well. Dumb weekend brain.
And I missed the zoom call!! And my neighbors are so loud and rude and it's been interrupting my sleep. I don't even know how to phrase all my issues with them to my landlord. It feels like tattling? Like this is elementary school? But there have been a host of things. Ugh.
I'm not making progress with my resume and job applications either. I did have another interview with the one firm I've been talking to on Friday and it went well, so I will probably be going into their office to meet more of the team on Wednesday. That means I need to go to a mall Monday or Tuesday for a single business casual outfit that will fit me... since none of my clothes do I may also pick up a sundress or something because I am supposed to drive to NY next weekend for my best friend's graduation from law school.
@DD265 potatoes are just the best food in the entire world. hope yours work out deliciously!
I'm going to try to take a walk now and then do some reading and a bit of meal prep. My foot is just getting annoying now. I want to get back to my long, long walks and jogging! But I just can't yet.4 -

I have the answer. It burns 580 calories every time you have your pride handed to you by someone half your age on the ice.
We made it to the finals and I finally remembered to start my Garmin. 5 hockey games in a weekend is too much for this lady in this condition. Everytime I fell I felt a jarring in my spine and left hip. I'll definitely be friendly with the robaxacet bottle for a good part of the rest of the week. 😉
It definitely gave me an excuse to overindulge a bit with dinner and dessert today but Monday will be here soon and I'll get back on that wagon! Onwards and downwards!

@Kali225 spin around slowly 3 times and take some deep breaths - when you step out you'll be in a new place. You needed some down time, and now you can pick back up again. The green will return - you can do it! Have fun shopping even if you don't feel like the size is what you want - every body can look great in the right clothes with the right attitude, and then you'll dazzle them!
@PlaneMonkey you are hilarious. But be careful of that hip and spine! See an osteopath if you can - and keep stretching and strengthening when you're not madly dashing about on skates burning billions of calories.
I'm falling asleep on my feet - so a quick update on who is due to weigh in and I'm off to the best bed of the year so far - sheets dried out on the line today! They smell amazing.

@Kali225 can you talk to your neighbors before you go to your landlord? Getting enough and uninterrupted sleep at night can help you nap less during the day and helps making good decisions about food choices. Either way, it is not tattling, especially if you have other problems with them too! Just be factual if you can and provide specific examples.
My eating was a little off today. We celebrated mother's day with my MIL and we had grilled chicken for lunch which was good. But I also ate 4 rolls and 2 servings of strawberry short cake. Luckily, I didn't say "well I messed up lunch, now I can eat bad all day." I was able to eat a healthy, normal calorie dinner and no more desserts 😊6 -
Happy mother's day to all the moms on the team!
We had a relaxed and casual mother's day. In the morning the kids, my MIL and I ran to town for a few odds and ends that I keep leaving off the list!
The weather was ok with spells of sun and some random snow showers that didn't stick...phew. I took the dog for a walk and I was determined to track down some of my favorite wild flowers. It took nearly an hour but I found the patch of tiny Fairy Slipper Orchids! My goodness they smell amazing. I brought one home that a deer had stepped on and broke its stem.
Dinner with my husband’s mom. Beef tri tip, mashed sweet potatoes with orange zest and mushrooms with spinach and kale. Then we had little plates of berries and did a chocolate tasting with 4 different bars. Yummy! The kids got me a trx suspension trainer. I'm super excited to try it out! Never done it before. First we need to install the ceiling hook up and then I will be ready to go! My husband will do that later this week. Calories and macros were on target today. I have 4 workouts planned for the week: 1 outdoor activity, 2 weight lifting and 1 HIIT. Did my outdoor activity today hiking for 64 minutes.

Evening all!
The brunch went well. This is the second time in a month I've been to this restaurant for buffet brunch - the last time was for the celebration of a 55th wedding anniversary, and today was to celebrate my Mom.
I am happy with how I navigated it both times. Lots of fruit and veg, and then just a few other things to add to the fun. Didn't leave feeling stuffed. Tracked as best I could. I definitely ate more today than last time, but I didn't feel out of control at any time. I don't prefer to do all you can eat type places anymore, but as part of life I'm to observe myself at these events and know that I can enjoy myself, stress free, and remain conscious of my choices. As I get further along in the journey I feel more than ever that I need to be doing things that I can do for the rest of my life, so this was just a good demonstration of that.... these events are going to happen so the more I practice how to be the "new me" at them, the easier it will be.
The rest of the day was a little bit of everything. Some chores around the house, a Peloton ride, a couple of walks, and a quick spin on the outdoor bike. Brad thought he was feeling better but as the day has come and gone he's still not in the best condition. He's also on call at work this week and it's been busy today so while we tried to watch a movie tonight, he got called again to deal with something so it may mean we end up forgoing and getting to bed earlier overall. Not a bad thing!
@conleywoods Beautiful flower, and a lovely sounding day. Excited to hear about the TRX.. fun!
@PlaneMonkey I imagine you must be feeling exhausted. Enjoy your well earned rest.
@Kali225 Hope the clothing hunt goes well. Sounds like things are moving along nicely with that firm.

Went to a small art museum today so did a little walking. But still not enough to make my 8k goal.
Still eating out. Not logging. So many good habits I thought I had learned…gone. Thank goodness for “muscle memory “. I know I’ll get back there at some point. I sure do feel the damage I’ve done with my free eating. My pants are tight again. Heartburn. Ugh. I need to find my motivation and determination. Or even just one of those.
So, I try for that elusive “perfect day” again tomorrow.5 -

So let's crunch the numbers and see what has really happened here....
MFP Weekly Kcal Goal: 11,763 (this is with negative kcal adjustments)
MFP Weekly Kcal Intake: 12,860
Conclusion: +1097 (+0.31#)
Garmin Kcal Burned: 16,228 (Active + Resting)
Calories Consumed: 12,860
Conclusion: -3368 ( -0.96#)
PW: 142.2
CW: 141.4 (-0.8#)
I'm going to experiment with trying to achieve a 500kcal deficit based upon my total burn for another week or two, and then see how a set kcal intake will change things (if at all)3 -
So far, so good today. Determination. Big salad for lunch. Tired of chewing. Do you know that feeling?
I know we are getting Tomato Pie for dinner, so trying to be sure I have room in my calories.
Did 16 minutes of Pilates this am. Planning a walk later.
Hope everyone is doing well today.5 -

@micki48 Just had to look up tomato pie as I've never heard of it before. Sounds delicious! Good to know it's coming and to plan ahead, to your point. I have my lunch and dinner pre-tracked for the same reason. That way I know pretty much how little I have left for snacking. Lets my brain move on to other things2

@jugar I don't think potatoes are particularly fussy. They're supposed to be a good 'first' in an area, because they help to break up the ground for you. I did add some fertiliser with them. We'll see what happens.
That's a beautiful orchid @conleywoods.
I am throwing a pity party for one this evening. It's been a really mixed day, and I'm over tired so dwelling on the negatives, when actually there have been some fairly huge positives. I don't know where I first heard it, but the following saying comes to mind:If you feel like you hate everybody, eat something. If you feel like everybody hates you, get some sleep.
I'm planning an early night!6 -

An early night sounds like a great idea, and I am sure you are in the midst of it right now. When we start "building dungeons in the sky" sleep sounds like a great solution! Re-set. Hugs to you!0 -
