We meet here to explore, share, celebrate and (sometimes) agonize over how we do (or don't) incorporate weight loss guidelines into our daily lives. "It's a lifestyle, not a diet" is easily and often said, but sometimes not so simply put into practice.

This is a thread for everyone. If you're new to GoaD, or to weight loss, your questions and comments are always welcome. If you're maintaining, or a long-term loser, your thoughts on the topic may be just what someone else needs to hear. If you're reading this, join in the discussion!

Each weekday, a new topic is offered up for discussion.

Monday - crewahl (Charlie)
Tuesday – Wildcard!
Wednesday - misterhub (Greg)
Thursday -imastar2 (Derrick)
Friday - Flintwinch (Tim)

Today's Topic: Trending off the topic of Noom (which I haven't but wasn't to respond) brought to mind Apps.
Besides MFP &/or WW apps do you use other health apps to keep u up with your diet or nutritional needs?

None. I think its terrific that I can get on the internet and get loads of NI with the click of a mouse. It really helps me when it comes to planning and number crunching. But beyond that I find gadgetry makes things more complicated. I’ve always done my tacking with pen and paper.

I use just those two - WW and MFP. WW gives me the framework for making food choices and setting boundaries around the quantity and qualities of food I eat. MFP gives me insight into the nutrition I’m getting from those choices and where I might have gaps.

I use my doctors' apps for their medical practices to see my history if I need to, and my Part D pharmacy stuff through their app. But in terms of making choices, it’s just those two. I don’t need multiple things tugging me in different directions.

I only use MFP. I've tried to use my simple plate (USDA) but it's just too time consuming to use more than one. I've checked into Noom numerous times and they want upwards of $190 plus a year to get their paid verson and don't see them being able to do what I know I have to do.

I also only use MFP, and that's just for tracking my weight. I no longer track my intake.
