Well, that's a little better than yesterday morning, but I'm frustrated that I can't seem to get and stay below 130. I managed to maintain an 1800 kcal-a-day burn with the exception of Wednesday when I just felt like crap. I don't know what was going on, but thankfully it only lasted a day. Today my current walking buddy cannot meet me because she has people in her house repairing damage from a recent water pipe break. It's fairly nice weather for a change, so I may walk outside today. My shoulders are hurting like heck again today (I'm pretty sure it's coming from my neck) so I'm waiting to see if an Aleve will kick in.
One change I've made over the last few days is to eat breakfast and then eat a much smaller lunch. That was my pattern until I had to change my walking schedule to noon, and since then I have been having only coffee in the morning and then eating lunch when I get back around 1:30. What I've found happening is that my blood sugar rises after lunch and I'm sluggish for a couple of hours. A couple of days I actually fell asleep after lunch, and once that was while I was sitting on a stool at the kichen bar, and I sleepily thought I was on the sofa and decided to just lay down! I caught myself before I tumbled off onto the floor!
So yesterday I had my toast with peanut butter and milk for breakfast and yogurt and fruit for lunch, and that seemed to help with the mid-day slump. It's crazy what blood sugar levels can do.
I will have to confess that I've not been in the best frame of mind lately--veering off toward negativism--and that affects everything. I hope to get that turned around, too, and always appreciate hearing how other do that.
So here's my 7-day averages for last week:
Steps = 14,023
Kcals burned = 1,784
Stair = 11
I know I said last week that I would also put in my 7-day averages for calories and net calories, but those would be way off because I forgot to log food last Saturday. First time I've done that in a long while, so you know how off my game I am lately.

So when I think I've been really bad, it's still better than last weigh in. Anyhow, I'm playing with the VR. I ordered a headset thingy that Audrey has for hers and it sure does feel better balanced. Anyway, I set my Garmin when I played last night for 48 mins and burned 412 calories. Just the moving around. I tried the roller coaster app...which is free. WHOA! It takes you through the coaster a few times first with deep blinders on...and I'm like...ok...cool. By the third trip and the blinders gone...it truly felt like I'd just gotten off a coaster. It was pretty cool. Can only do it once without the blinders, but it was fun...especially since I had the fan blowing on me... But Beat Saber is what Audrey and I are playing.
Eating out is slowing down, but we are eating more prepared foods. But we're getting in rhythm. Received confirmation new grill will be here Thursday so it will be ready to go for the weekend. THis week has been tough. I made dinner plans with girlfriends for tonight and tomorrow...so I do need to jump off pretty soon.
Sarah - I hope getting some activity and the better weather helps with your moods. I know what it can be like and I hope you see improvement soon. I've been taking the Celebrex and 2 advil during the day for the back issues - hopefully the Aleve will help you.
Sheesh - I can't wait to see pics of the baby!!! Enjoy the theater.
Kelly - I echo Sheesh - where have you been???0 -

Well, that's a bit better.
Sorry to be late today. . I had 2 doctor apts, 2 playdates, and family zoom tonight. I managed to get 35 minutes of low level cardio. My foot is looking better on the x-ray, but there's still a bit of swelling and discoloration and tenderness. So, doc told me to go easy and gradual, and to stop if there's more pain. The other doc changed my statin medication and scheduled a DEXA scan for tomorrow. I'm a bit nervous for that.
Sarah, sorry for the negative mood you're dealing with. We all have them at times, but if it persists don't hesitate to ask your doctor about it because it can be hormonal or another treatable cause. After I retired I had a long period of adjusting to being less busy and distracted that felt negative. I know keeping busy really helps me. Talking about it here is a good way to deal also.
Lois, how fun to have a new toy, and the calorie burn is great! Then the new grill for food prep . . you're getting your mojo back.
I can't seem to post photos like I have before on this app. It tells me "you don't have permission" ?? I don't know why. I'll work on it some more in the next few days. She sure is cute, lol.
I hope Kelly hasn't given up on us

Sheesh - that's a great number - especially since you aren't able to move about normally. Congrats. WIth regard to not having permissions. If you're using your iPad or iPHone, you may need to go to Settings, MyFitnesspal and ensure that the camera and photos are green to allow upload. I can't wait to see a picture of her.
I had dinner with my girlfriend last night. We shared a citrus-soy salmon and a chicken southwestern salad. I had a delightful - spirit free drink with cucumber, mint , lemongrass and ginger. I had two of them....They were quite tasty. The scale was friendlier today. Tonight is mexican food with another friend. The scale may not be quite as friendly tomorrow.0 -

Sorry all. Life has been busy and when things get like that, unfortunately, usually that means things like posting on here get put on the back burner for a bit.
Working out also unfortunately has been hit or miss. I haven't been sleeping well lately, unable to fall asleep some nights and therefore it's a choice between sleeping a bit longer in the morning or getting up to work out. Sleeping has been the way it's going as of late. Ever since I was sick with whatever that was, my energy levels have been low. I am bound and determined to get back on a good sleep schedule though. It doesn't help when it's NHL playoffs and my husbands favorite team goes into double overtime. lol 1 more game in that series (game 7) and we'll see if they finally make it to the 2nd round since the first time since 2004. Crazy.
So what's all been happening. Well, I have started to go back to the office, so that makes it more difficult to post on here for sure. Things have been crazy at work. But I'll find my routine eventually and find some time to post, even if it's just quick ones.
My Grandma passed away, so we had her Celebration of Life service, which was a joint one for my Uncle who passed away at the end of last year. Both are from my Mom's side of the family. Unfortunately I haven't been close or seen my Grandma in years, due to the relationship her and my Mom didn't have anymore. It was a lot of weird emotions for sure, but it was really nice to see some other family that I haven't seen in a very long time.
The kids are busy busy. Ella still has hockey, which is ending in June and has also started soccer, which goes until the end of June, then starts back up in the Fall for playoffs. Tyler has started ball hockey. Shawn is coaching Tyler's team and also has ball hockey of his own to play. He also just finished hockey. We pretty much have a sport almost every night and when we don't, lately it's been NHL playoff hockey that we're watching.
With everything opening up here wide open pretty much, we have been meeting up with friends we haven't seen in a long time, which is nice but also adds to the busy schedule. Some days I miss when we couldn't go out lol
The weather has been improving. The snow finally melted a couple weeks ago, but we have received almost non-stop rain. We'll have a nice day here and there, but then a soaking. So much flooding, it's crazy. Luckily, we haven't been affected by it where we are yet. Those poor farmers though. The highway to the States and part way into North Dakota is also underwater.
Ok that's all I have time for now. I promise to try better to get on here more often. I'll have to find some time to go back and read what I've missed. Sheesh - I hope your foot is doing better! Lois - I hope your back is improving! Sarah - I hope you managed to find a way to get out of your funk. I've been in a bit of a one too lately... so hugs!0 -
Congratulations on your reduction Kelly! And I was happy to see your post because I know you've been very busy. And now you're starting to go back to the office. I hope that doesn't mean even less time for yourself. I'm sorry for the loss of your Grandma, even though you weren't close.
So, my trainer is gradually adding more moves on my feet. So far so good. I had a good session with her today, and it felt tough.
This Wednesday we're flying to Portland to supervise the granddaughters while Mom and Dad are in Mexico. SIL's company is providing a trip that will be so great for them. . they'll be at the very nice 4 Seasons, all expenses paid! And, we get to enjoy the girls for a week. So, I'll try to post here if I can. And we fly home on the following Wednesday too. I'm hoping to maintain my weight.
Lois, hoping your MIL's estate is getting finalized soon. Let us know what you're doing on the VR game, too. Sounds fun
Sarah, I've been thinking about you, and hoping you're neck is okay, and that you're feeling happier with the Spring weather. Walking in the sunshine really helps me.

Sheesh - she is such a cutie patootie!!! You look like you're in heaven and she is so happy! Enjoy.
Kelly - so great to hear an update from you! I remember what it was like when the kids were in sports
and then taekwondo. You don't seem to have a moment to yourself. I had dinner with two of my girlfriends two days in a row last week...I was exhausted on Friday and yes...had a blip of a moment to go back to when we couldn't go anywhere. My fault for not realizing they were back to back when I scheduled. But ah well. We enjoyed our visits. I'm so glad you're doing ok. Remember to take care of yourself (sleep is just as important as a workout).
Sarah hoping the weekend got your out of your funk.
We had Rhea Saturday and into Sunday. She's 3 and had a couple of pushing the boundary melt downs, but Grammy and Papa handled it and she was smiling and back on track in no time. She's missing Lola, so I was talking to her about her and how she's in heaven and up there above the clouds looking down and smiling. She smiled and we blew Lola a kiss as we watered her roses. It was tough when she'd mention her..."here Grammy , here's your plate and tea. This is Grandpa's plate but he's still working and this one is for Lola, she's an angel now" (and then she just kind of sighed). So I told her to make Lola's plate and put it on the side for Lola to have while we had our tea and pizza... We also celebrated Mother's Day yesterday with my son. He brought a small bouquet of flowers and then we ordered lunch and enjoyed each other. We did do the bed shuffle so we'll be ready when the murphy bed arrives. I'm locating a contractor to assist with installation. Rhea was loving her new bed in her room.0 -
This is funny. I had just typed out a post and thought I'd check one thing on my Fitbit dashboard to add, and poof--my post vanished! Just to make sure, I pulled up a new browser and logged back in, and lo and behold, I see that three of us were posting at about the same time. So before I try to rewrite what I said, I'm going to take time to read the new posts. Back soon.

Sheesh - Have a great trip! So nice that we're able to travel again so that you guys can help out your kids with childcare. Hopefully they have a relaxing trip! Those are some adorable pics
Glad to hear your trainer is adding more 'on your feet' training. Hopefully it's not painful! Don't overdo it for sure, or it will set you back even longer. It's tough to stay idle though, I get it.
Lois - Ohh that tantrums. I don't miss those days. I met Ella when she was 5 and she had meltdowns bad until she was around 7 or 8. They didn't happen often and always related to her being over tired, but they were some trying times for Shawn and I. She had both of us in tears one day while we were on the couch and she was screaming in her room. Glad those days are done! They can be sooo sweet but they can be soooo spicy too.
Sarah - Not sure if you just didn't come back to repost or if your posts just aren't working? It's super frustrating to type out a big long post for it just to disappear!
Rainy day here, but it doesn't matter to me much as I'm back in the office now. First day for our pup to be home alone all day. I head home at lunch to spend some time with him and let him out, but still feel bad that he's all alone

Hi, ladies. Sorry I did not get time to rewrite my post yesterday. I had to take a call and then realized that I was going to be late meeting my walking buddy. Then last night, I had a meeting to attend that ran late. Today has also been super busy, and so I’m finally here trying to get something posted before bedtime.
What I was saying yesterday was, first, that I was so glad to see your post, Kelly. And I can empathize about the rainy weather. This has been a very wet spring in this area, too. A friend gave us tickets to the Nats game on Friday night, and we lucked out with just a few sprinkles, but had to take rain gear just in case. We know that the Nats are probably not going to do very good this year since they traded off their star players and are now in rebuild mode. I suspect part of it is because the team's owners make their money in commercial real estate and that has been hit very hard by Covid and a widespread move to more teleworking even now when offices can be open. The Nats do win some games, and it seems when that happens, we win by a large margin, but Friday night was not one of those nights. So I entertained myself looking at Juan Soto's nice rear end! (Our seats were right behind where he stands in the outfield.)
Kelly, I am also sorry to hear about your grandmother, and I'm glad the Celebration of Life let you reconnect with some people. On Sunday, we went to a Celebration of Life for a man we had known for many years who died of Covid toward the end of March. His son, who is uber wealthy, hosted the celebration and a bar-b-que at a place called Smokey Glen Farm. We did not stay to eat, though. They had just started to serve food 2-1/2 hours after the start time and hubby's blood sugar was taking a dive and his back could no longer deal with sitting at a picnic table. So we figured we had been there for the remembrances, had paid our respects, and had had a chance to say hello to some folks we don't see very often.
Sheesh, thanks for posting the photos. Your granddaughter is adorable, and you are also looking good, my friend.
I know you’ll have a fun time taking care of the grandkids in Oregon. Just be sure not to overdo it with your foot.
Lois, it sounds like you’ve made a good start toward taking better care of yourself. I hope that soon you can settle back into normal life. This last year was a tough one for you and I just feel like better times are coming. That was such a sweet moment you had with Rhea and plate for Lola.
I'm also glad to hear about your new grill. I know who much you enjoy grilling healthy good. I need to take a leaf from your book and learn more about grilling myself. We traded a gas grill for a charcoal grill/wood smoker and then we traded that for one of those ceramic egg types, which is also charcoal or wood briquets. And I’m just not that good on that one yet. Even hubby has flubbed a few things—the last was his attempt to smoke a pork shoulder in that thing. It did not work!
Thanks everyone was asking about my mood. I am feeling much better than I was last week. I still don’t know what was causing me to be so off kilter. And I don’t know if what was causing that is also causing this weight gain that I’m experiencing. Today, I was 130.8, but yesterday, I was 131.6. And that is the highest I have been in a long time. It’s a little scary. I don’t see much of a reason for the gain when I look at my food diary and my activity level. How do fix something when you don’t know what’s wrong?
Well, it’s after 11 p.m., so I’ll say goodnight and I’ll post again tomorrow for weigh-in day. Sheesh, have a safe trip. I do hope you’re able to get on the board at least a couple of times while you’re away.
