Thought I’d come back to add some just overheard family comments.

    “She was a skeleton”.
“She had no business being that small. She looks like herself now”.
“She looks healthy now, not like a turkey”.
    “I was scared of her”.

@CeeBeeSlim wow!!! Were you only 114 lb then? Is your goal weight the same or higher?

I understand that our family members love us, but sometimes they have their own ideas to justify their own behavior. Or maybe they should keep their arbitrary opinions to themselves! And sometimes we need to listen to them.

    Great workouts!

I went to the 45 minute circuit training and used a 5 lb weight. I really should have used a 7 lb weight because I felt disappointed with how much I accomplished. That's progress, right? I'm going again tomorrow and I will see if I feel like that since I'm on the second part of the juice cleanse/4 ounce protein plan, and I have two and a half days to do that.

Could not walk the dogs today because it was a very early class and it's going to be too hot here too.

    Stay cool!

@zenobia9777 My lightest weight in the last two years was 112.4 in April of last year. I had started the year before around 145 in Feb - then Covid hit - and I stayed f/t to watch over and take care of my elderly parents. I had just hired a personal trainer and ready to start but had to stop since I was out of state with the folks.

Because I was knew the food choices in the south here would be different - I kinda panicked figuring if I didn’t stick to something I’d gain weight so I bought a lot of equipment, increased my NEAT, lowered calories and I’m sure due to the stress of Covid-fear and eldercare, I lost all that weight.

My original goal was just 125 and I was happy there - and looked good. I think I kept going as a project to see how far I could go. Then I hit 112. I hadn’t bought new clothes (wasn’t shopping) so my size 6 and size 4 were falling off - I think that’s what caused the family comments.

I’m not even sure what my goal weight is! I think I’d be happy maintaining in a range of 115-118.

Did a 30 min heavy bag workout, 15 minute air dyne bike and 50 kettlebell swings.

Oh - how was your weigh in?!

    @CeeBeeSlim interesting story!

    The workout sounds intense.

I increased my weights today from 5 to 7.5. Did 45 minutes weights and cardio. Walked the dogs 40 minutes.

According to the studio. I have lost 4.6 pounds since a week from last Monday.

Water??? Anyway. I don't even know what I should weigh. 118 now.

@zenobia9777 Congrats on your loss! Do you feel
lighter? Hope you don’t get too sore with the increase in weights but great that you’re progressing.

I did a strength training workout today (a program I found on YouTube for women over 50) and I’m sure I will be very sore tomorrow, but lifting is addictive to me - just can’t be competitive with myself and go heavier than I should.

Will try a Pilates YouTube class tomorrow and go easier on my body!

@CeeBeeSlim I appreciate that. I do feel better and I will make some changes because of this. I will alternate cardio and yoga and I will reintroduce foods to see what bothers me. I'm encouraged! 3 months from now I will see significant progress!!!

I am not sore except a little bit across the chest muscles.

I need to ask the instructor about the arbor leaf results because they are confusing. I gained skeletal muscle but I lost muscle mass. They are an estimate.

How heavy are the weights that you use?

Today I walked the dogs 40 minutes and I'm going to Hot Yoga for an hour

@zenobia9777 You’re making great progress. Interested to hear about the loss of muscle mass?

I did a 30 min Pilates YouTube video today. Whoo boy! Felt my body needed it after more intense work for the last few days.

As far as the weights I use - they vary according to the 7 lifts in my strength training workout. All dumbbells, 3 sets of 8-12 reps

    Squats - 25 lb each
    Deadlift - 35 lb each
Bench press - 25 lbs each
    Rows 21 lbs each
    Overhead press - 15 pounds
    Biceps - 10
    Skullcrushers (Triceps) - 10

I’ve been stuck here for a while as I haven’t had access to heavier weights at home. This will do for now as I tend to overdo it!

Will “walk” across the Brooklyn Bridge later. 😃

    @CeeBeeSlim Your weights are impressive!
Do you like the Pilates? I actually have some weight gloves that I should take with me. I think the heavier weights make me a little nervous -- about getting a good grip.

I progressed to a 10 lb tricep today, but it was a very rough workout. For some reason she was trying to wear out our legs with lunges. I'm still recovering.

I hope I get the chance to ask her about the muscle mass. I was dragging a lot yesterday and I'm very tired of making the little meals. I'll be so glad on Monday when I can go back to maybe 1400 calories a day
IF I get in enough exercise.

I have one more workout tomorrow morning.
I don't usually go on Saturdays. I probably will do yoga on Sunday and then decide what my weekly schedule should be. Maybe two circuit trainings and two yoga classes.

I was a bit discouraged today, but since I'm operating on so few calories, maybe I'll do a lot better tomorrow.

@zenobia9777 Thanks, I’m still a “beginner” based on several calculations I’ve seen about lifts and weights but it’s a far cry from where I started from. And I did love that Pilates class - I plan to find a way to incorporate it into my weekly routine now.

How many calories are you on now? I can see how you would feel sluggish but don’t be discouraged! We’ll have some good and some not-so-good days.

I detest lunges although in my next workout I will try to fit them in - reverse lunges or split squats. I prefer them on the TRX so I may try that.

Did a 30 min band circuit leg workout - even though no weights it was challenging. May do a Pilates only core workout later - think this will help with some lower back pain.

Hope you have a better workout tomorrow!

@CeeBeeSlim I think Pilates is great because they use it for PT. They will help you prevent injury.

I appreciate the encouragement. I think I am around 1000 calories now. With the exercise, that is pretty extreme.

Doing 45 minutes circuit training. Tomorrow is a rest day!!!!

@zenobia9777 I really like Pilates and thought about getting a reformer for my home gym but I hear one can get results from Pilates on the mat. Plus, while I have the room, I won’t have an instructor - and I think having someone tweak my every move made all the difference.

1000 plus exercise? Wow. Strange - I’ve been around the same, don’t eat my exercise calories back and been stalled around the same weight. I was frustrated yesterday and around 10pm had a protein bar and a hotdog on a bun. I was all set to see a 2-3 pound weight gain from the late evening and salt but had a one pound loss from yesterday.

    Go figure.

Did you learn anything about your muscle mass?

@CeeBeeSlim the 1000+ average is only during the non-juice days. The juice days are depressingly low!!! It's more like just enough to keep you alive, but I was still able to exercise and I really did not get hungry, so I was surprised. Other people got very hungry. But I drank a lot of water and the sugar in the fruit kept my blood sugar up. Still, I'm never doing that again!!!

    Congratulations on losing more!
Don't be too hard on yourself. You are doing fine! I plan to have a hot dog at a family party.

I will ask her about the muscle mass on Sunday.

I did fairry well in the weights class yesterday. It is a beginner class and most people are struggling. She had us pull on a pulley rope while in a lunge and you were supposed to draw your other arm back to work your tricep. That was very difficult for me.

I was pretty tired until later in the day but I felt great last night!

Getting ready to take the dogs out and I have a rest day today.

I'm trying to make sure I don't start binging next week. I want to ease my way back using the new habits.

Instructors can help you prevent injury and they definitely push you to do your best.

@zenobia9777 Thanks for the encouragement. Hope you have an enjoyable rest day.

Pulley rope, lunge, and triceps work?! Wow. Sounds hard!

Dodged a bullet last night. Hubby traveled down to spend Fathers Day with the family and he always orders pizza the first day back. He ordered a pie with ricotta cheese, which I can hardly look at - so a small garden salad and protein bar for dinner! Whew!

My clothes are feeling great so I’m trying to not be so focused on the scale. Did my regular step aerobics today but was feeling strong, so added two pound weights. Doable, but added more of a challenge than I thought!

@CeeBeeSlim hurray! It is good to be on track.

My final result is 117.4, which is 5 pounds down in 2 weeks. But the best part is I lost 2 inches in my waist.

The coach said arborleaf is just an estimate. So no worries about muscle mass.

Today I did pretty well in hot vinyasa (an hour).Walked the dogs very slowly for an hour.

    Onward!

@zenobia9777 Congrats! Your hard work certainly paid off! 2 inches in your waist!? 👏👏👏👏. I bet you look great.

Taking the day off today - no intentional exercise. So will try even harder to watch my diet today - southern Fathers Day dinner. Willpower - don’t fail me now!! 😵‍💫🫢🤐

I hope it went well. We did not do anything social. I slept three hours in the afternoon!!!
I am going to take today off from exercising and walking. I would have walked the dogs, but I got up late, so I still need some more recovery time.

I reintroduced one glass of wine yesterday and I don't seem to be having any effects from it.

I had half an ounce of cheese this morning so that is also reintroducing dairy. In such small amounts it is unlikely to make a difference but I guess I will work on this gradually.
  • CeeBeeSlim
    CeeBeeSlim Posts: 1,360 Member
@zenobia9777 I think you’re right. Introducing such small amounts should be negligible. Wow. I wish I could take a three hour nap -or just have three hours of interrupted sleep! That’s rare for me.

Took yesterday off and back at it today. Weight is up and down but I feel different - tighter, stronger. I forgot what that “adage” is - two weeks to feel different, four to see it, 6 for others to see it - not quite like that but I do feel different so I’ll take it.

Did a 30 min trx workout. Felt great!

@CeeBeeSlim. Fantastic. It's all about feeling energetic!

I had a lovely shrimp salad yesterday and was so good at lunch. But I didn't have a plan for dinner because Ihubby had leftovers. I finally figured out what my calorie goal should be everyday and I'm going to use the nutrition proportions recommended by MFP.
I'll use 1300 calories as a baseline and see where I go from there.

Off to train 45 to work on those flabby week arms!!! I did actually see a bicep last week LOL.

I am still going to restrict milk, bread, dairy and alcohol, and I have not been reintroducing coffee. Although I did have some black tea yesterday.

I don't think you have to eat bread to be healthy ,but I'm very confused about some of these issues.

    CeeBeeSlim Posts: 1,360 Member
@zenobia9777 I may missed this from your earlier posts but how did you decide to put those foods on your restricted list?

Congrats on your visible bicep. I had the cleanest teeth on the planet at one point - I had enjoyed seeing a visible and attractive deltoid muscle when I brushed my teeth. Lol.

A very very challenging two weeks coming up. Family from England is visiting and arriving tonight. They love to cook. Love to eat. The one “good” thing is they know how hypervigilant I’ve been re: Covid due to my parents, so they know there will be no restaurant eating for me. Just have to control my portion sizes. I’m glad I started weeks ago - less likely for me to “backslide”.

Did a 45 min strength training today and upped some lifts! Yay!

@CeeBeeSlim restaurant eating is the worst.
Sometimes even the salads are so full of stuff they're worse than the entrees

    Stay strong!!!

I originally restricted foods because of my two week program, but I took the opportunity to see if something would improve my digestive issues. I was going to just do dairy this week, but last night I had bread crumbs in the meatloaf.

So far I think seltzer, spicy food and too much citrus are the only known culprits. Too much alcohol makes anybody feel bad,

That's pretty funny about your deltoid!

Yesterday was challenging for a different reason. The night before I couldn't think straight or I could have had my protein powder or even some eggs. So I didn't eat very well, although I did not eat over my calories.

Then yesterday morning like you I did a 45 minute workout and got to where I was using 10 lb and 15 lb weights

It really wasn't bad except for the overhead presses. I don't know if I used the 10 lb for those or the eight and a half pounds

The instructor was really good. Because my knees were burning during the lunges, she told me to just do squats.

I'm not sore yet but the big problem was I came home and did an hour in the yard of gardening, and then I just could not get enough food until dinner. I was trying to do only fruit, vegetables and protein. I would rather not eat if I am eating only veggies!!!

Anyway, I did not feel satisfied until the meatloaf. Was it the fat or is it all in my head? I was eating plenty of food!

I am still tired today. I did take the dogs out for 50 minutes and got credit for walking almost a mile according to my phone.

I have to give myself time to adjust.

@zenobia9777. I will try and stay the course. Got this song in my head:

… I got to keep on moving
Ain't nothin' gonna break my stride
    I'm running and I won't touch ground
Oh no, I got to keep on moving…

Those weights are pretty heavy! And you did gardening afterwards? Wow.

I’m actually trying to pay more attention to my macros - fat/carbs/protein. The more protein the more filling you’re supposed to be. Something like .8-1 gram per body weight. Without doing all the math, I do find that when I have a more strenuous workout I am ravenous.

May skip today. Family arrived around midnight and stayed up til about 2am! Sleeeepy!

@CeeBeeSlim have a great time with your family!!!

Yesterday I was better and not so tired. I had a very busy day doing touch up painting because I also have family coming this weekend.

I drank low sodium chicken broth when I got too hungry and I ate a nice large dinner with farro, chicken and vegetables.

I'm still sticking with the no bread, no starchy vegetables and lots of protein before dinner.

Walked the dogs for about a mile for a very leisurely 50 minutes!

Going to weight class again and I also am wearing different shoes which I think will help me balance better. They have a hiking tread on them. They're not very heavy but waterproof, which is why I bought them so I could wear them to walk the dogs.

They might not be very good for jumping jacks, but I think they will help me balance better by gripping the floor.

@zenobia9777 Thank you. I am enjoying the family and so far so good. I WILL avoid getting anything from Dairy Queen which is on their to-do list today!

Will the presence of your family help or hinder your progress? Or neither?

Sounds like you’re being pretty active!

Did a trx metabolic workout - whatever that means - but it was fun, and I will now incorporate two of those and two strength training workouts in my weekly routine.

I have a love/hate relationship with jumping jacks!

@CeeBeeSlim you read my mind. Actually I am planning to go work out at 5:30 a.m. two of the days that my son is here and at 7:00 a.m. one of the days. I hope he does not get annoyed because his little girls may wake up very early. But they are on California time and that is 2 hours earlier than here. As far as the food that will be challenging. He has expensive taste.

We actually got grilled chicken salads from Dairy Queen last night which are ok. Not a lot of vegetables, but if you skip the dressing or limit the dressing it's not too big of a hit.

It sounds like you're getting a routine that suits you. That is so important. I'm still floundering a bit with food but I'm back to my yogurt and fruit in the mornings

The worst time of day is lunch and when I am hungry and don't have much time. So I stocked up on a lot of canned chicken and fish for individual servings. Now I need to stock up on more than carrots for a quick lunch. And I should make more of the protein bars from the recipe that I shared with you. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail ..

I walked the dogs less than a mile. Heading to yoga soon. Yesterday's circuit training was a lot of cardio and I certainly did not work very hard. It was a different instructor and I think she was trying to figure out my capabilities. Plus there were so many different stations(13 or 14) that it was confusing. 45 seconds per station and sometimes we repeated the stations. I should have picked a person to follow around!

I feel a little silly being the jumping jack granny, but it's kind of fun also! My new shoes are awesome. They're not very heavy and I forget I'm wearing them. But they're not bouncy!

I've been weighing myself several times this week and the scales are fluctuating wildly.
I'm not sure what is going on. I do think I've been somewhat dehydrated.

I'll weigh again on Sunday and post it. I think I might be down a pound this week

@zenobia9777 Best of luck with your family. I made bad choices yesterday so back at it today. Not gonna dwell on it just regroup.

I feel that my workout routine is set - and that’s not going to change with my family here. My food choices - not so much. Ugh. I hope if my choices are not so great one day, I’ll make up for it the next day so it will all even out. Two more weeks! How long is your fam with you?

The scales can drive me crazy! It will all settle out soon. Be proud of yourself that you can even do jumping jacks!

We just left DQ and I’m proud of myself. 6 passengers. 5 orders of a mixture of sundaes, blizzards, dirt pies, and shakes…. I was the only one empty handed as we drove off. So glad I kept my thoughts (and tears) to myself!!😃🤣

@CeeBeeSlim, I had the same experience yesterday! I was grinding my teeth last night from stress. Yes, let's regroup!!!

Good job on the DQ run!

I think it's so hard to feel like we're having a good time in life and then stop where we need to stop. With me, it's can I just drink one glass of wine? I love those little shot glass size desserts because that's all I usually care about.

My family members will be here until July 4th. I'm sure there will be Braum's runs.

I actually feel better and have more energy today. I've been doing so many little projects and I needed a rest yesterday. Today I'm just going to check off as much as I can before they arrive this evening.

I walked the dogs about a mile and I'm going to hot yoga at 8:30. It was hard yesterday, but thanks to the weights I can do more push-ups. The problem I had was the balancing.

    Have fun in moderation!

One meal today. Steak and a slice of sweet potato pie. Crazy crazy day. Family over, lots of food. I think - realistically - this weekend is lost! Better choices tomorrow - maybe - can’t wait to really get back into my groove on Monday.

Moderation!!!!! Thanks for the reminder! The daily posting are helping me not fall off the cliff though.

Hope you’re doing better than me! 🫤

@CeeBeeSlim it"s so nice to have a faithful reminder!

I did ok yesterday. I just reminded myself not to go through that pain just to gain it back.

    2/22 132.6
    6/19 117.4
    Today 117

Barely down this week, but I will take it!

Yoga was hard. I only did 45 minutes of the hour. Too many people and too hot --- and I didn't like her routines. But my knees didn't burn and I balanced better!

    Only walking dogs today.

@zenobia9777 Down is down! I haven’t weighed - keep forgetting to get the scale out of the room my brother’s family is staying in but in truth - I don’t want to know.

I am so glad this weekend is over! Three words - Glut- ton - knee!! 🤣🤪

I hadn’t realized my family took pics of me when I wasn’t looking last year only to show me now just how “bad” they think I looked back then. I did look pretty bad - as I was losing weight but not buying new clothes so I looked like an ironing board from the back. Everyone told me “i look like the real me” with these extra 15 pounds.

Still don’t like the weight so I will just keep losing until I feel that I like the way I feel and look.

Is your fam supportive of your weight/fat loss efforts?

@CeeBeeSlim I am also feeling like it is a lost cause. I did fine yesterday until dinner. Today I have been pretty disciplined

I went to circuit training at 5:30 a.m.
I actually felt like it was too easy for the most part. The first thing we did was run around the building twice and of course I was the last person because I have a history of not being able to breathe deeply enough for some reason. But I was doing better than other people on the other activities. So that is progress

My family doesn't say much. but I have never been thin. I would have to lose 10 more pounds to start looking thin.

I actually have not been buying new clothes but celebrating that things fit better. I obviously was wearing things way too tight because nothing is falling off!!!! That's embarrassing.

Maybe it's just because I tend to have a thick midsection.

Hang in there. Next week is will be better and this is only a temporary setback.

Reward yourself and buy something pretty to wear!
