Well, not awesome but not nearly as bad as I thought. I haven't weighed myself in a while actually and I was a tad worried. Not that I haven't been doing nothing but I haven't been doing as much dedicated exercise. I have been walking the dog lots and doing a ton of yardwork, so that has been helping for sure. We're in the process of starting a patio behind our house, so we have been moving super heavy pavers. That's a whole workout in itself.
Just a quick update to post my weight. I'll be back later to check on you all

Was feeling good because I hit 129.4 on Monday, and it was the same yesterday, but of course, since it's weigh-in day, I'm up a half a pound! Had my regular 3-month visit with my primary care physician today and she agreed that since I had that severe issue with the colonoscopy prep that that was my last screening one. If there are symptoms, perhaps--but she agrees that 10 years from now, having my blood pressure bottom out would not be worth it.
Every day another store closes in the mall, including the few still getting a reasonable number of customers, so I am beginning to think that I may not have that venue through all of the hot months of summer. I guess I need to start thinking about joining a gym again. Finances have been tough with a cut in income of more than half for almost a year now, but relief is on the way in August. I will finally draw Social Security. (Am I really that old? ) So, I may consider that again, although the last time we joined a gym, I found myself walking outside or in the mall instead of going there.
Kelly, working on the patio will be a great workout and will work muscles you probably do not normally use. When I do any type of physical labor that I'm not used to doing, I typically get sore in different places and my weight goes down a bit.
Lois, it's great that you will be able to revive the family trips, and I suspect your MIL would be very happy to know that family trips are her legacy. My dad wanted to leave his kids money for travel and thought he had saved enough, but unfortunately, after his death, my mom had 10 years of paying home health care providers and she also paid a lot of bills for my adopted brother that she really should not have paid. So she literally ran out of money shortly before she died. Hubby's dad died at 47 before he could save much, and his mom developed health problems and died a few years later. So we inherited very, very little from both sides combined, but maybe someone rich (and really, really old) will still adopt us!
Sheesh, I hope that no one else in your family has come down with Covid, and hope all those who did get it continued to have only mild symptoms. I so wish we didn't have to continue thinking about this darned virus, But I did think long and hard about attending a cookout one of my friends had for her female friends last Sunday. Since it was a totally outside affair, I did go, but I did not mingle too closely with folks, and I did not join the smaller group who went to an evening music festival in the park. While there, I saw a mutual friend who moved to Utah about 9 months ago (somewhere outside Park City), but has recently moved back. She said it was very beautiful out there, but her husband was not happy with his new job and they didn't really fit in. I believe they were in a predominantly Mormon community, and they are Protestant. I remember you mentioned that to me when I said hubby thought Boise might be a nice place to consider for retirement.
But now back to the subject at hand. My 7-day averages were okay:
Steps = 12, 240
Kcals burned = 1,782
Stairs = 12 flights
However, now that the pool is open, my steps may decrease a bit, and since I don't wear my fitbit in the pool, my burn may decrease, too. But I am not going to let numbers keep me from doing seasonal things I enjoy.
My short-term goal is to get back to doing the arm exercises I abandoned and also do some balance exercises. I have also started tracking fiber and calcium as two of the five items in my food diary and want to try to increase both of those. I could not find the phone number for the free nutrition counseling (it vanished from my patient portal somehow), but I mentioned it to my doc today, and she wrote it down for me. So I also hope to get something set up with that in the next week or so.
Well, time to run. Hope everyone has a great week and gets time to check in her once or twice. I need you guys!

Well, a little progress. I did really well last week with food logging and exercise, so I feel like it will be even better next week because I had movie popcorn with butter yesterday. Hubby and I have started going out on our weekly date on Tuesdays again. We saw the afternoon showing of "Maverick" and then got take out (I did get a salad for that). I recommend the movie, the acting was just okay, but the action was really good! But, I indulged in quite a lot of popcorn because we hadn't had dinner before, lol.
Our daughter, SIL, and oldest granddaughter in OR are all over their bout with Covid, thank goodness. The younger granddaughter was able to avoid getting it by masking and isolating herself as much as possible. They're back for the last few days of school. I'm glad for that since they have so many fun things at the end of the school year. We just got off family zoom, and they described loss of taste, each in different ways. Bad body aches, especially in the lower back. Upper respiratory symptoms and some lingering coughing. But, they're all sounding and looking good tonight. I'm glad they all were vaccinated to prevent more serious illness. And hubby and I had no sign of it. However, the allergies . . ugh.
Kelly, it's great to see your post. Keep walking the dogs, and when you're lifting the pavers . . use your legs and spare your back! Check back soon
Sarah, I'm sorry about the loss of the mall for walking. Maybe a gym membership would be good. Some gyms have tracks that are more interesting than a treadmill. Also, weight machines would be good to add into your workout. Your steps and calorie burn are still really great. I watched mine last week, and I'm usually no more than 1,600 to 1,700 calorie burn. On the days I lift weights AND walk I get above that, but it's hard to do. I still believe it's food that makes the biggest difference in fat loss. A nutritionist (especially a free consult) would be a good thing to do to gain insight into the food diary. I started paying closer attention to my calcium intake also. I had a less than stellar DEXA scan, so I'm watching more carefully.
Tomorrow is our SIL's (here) birthday. They're coming over with the kiddos on Friday for dinner to celebrate, and I'm baking a cake too. So, that day will be a bit of a challenge. Also, tomorrow I have my trainer, and I'm going to tell her kick my *** more . . I need it, and my foot feels almost 100%.
I'll check back tomorrow.

It's a rainy Saturday here in the DMV. We were supposed to have a "Meet Your Neighbors" in one of the grassy common areas in our neighborhood, but I doubt anyone shows up. (There was no rain date.) So there's no socializing (until evening) or pool time today, but the good news is that that will allow me to meet my walking buddy at noon. We are trying to make good use of the mall until it does indeed close. As I said, I'm sure that day is close now.
I got good news at the implant specialist on Thursday. The bone graft has been very successful. He just wants another month for soft tissue healing. Have a friend who just went to Costa Rica for a full mouth of implants that was done over a 2-week period. I have no idea how that can be accomplished considering that I'm 3 months in now. I just hope all goes well for him.
Yesterday, I had errands that prevented me from walking with my buddy, so I did my hilly outside route of about 3 miles. That sure works different muscles than flat mall floors! But I was happy though that "killer hill" did not make my quads and hamstrings cry as much as I thought it might.
Well, just wanted to quickly pop in after logging last night's dinner. Sending good vibes to everyone.0 -
Happy Monday Ladies.
Sorry for being so quiet. So with my VR thingy bopper...With last week being as crazy as it was - I did not use it at all. I did get a 30 day pass for this workout program called supernatural. I'm going to attempt that tonight for the first time and playing the beat saber game thingy with my daughter Audrey tomorrow night. Gotta get moving. Still eating all meals via Door Dash. I know it's not good for me, but honestly with everything else going on, I can't figure out a meal plan and cook. I missed the delivery for that Factor food stuff.
Our murphy bed is supposed to be delivered this weekend. I'm searching for someone to install it. Hoping to have that lined up before it gets here. Also, we ordered new dining chairs. They were supposed to be delivered late July, they're now coming in two weeks. However, we did pay to have those delivered and assembled here. I just have to dispose of our current ones and ensure they have space to assemble. Our big trash pick up is the following week....eeek.
We're in the 110's already. We had beautiful 90 degree weather a week or so ago and then BAM!! We beat a couple of records over the weekend. AC units are getting a workout.
Kelly - Many Many Many years ago (2004 or 5) we did pavers on the side of our house (14'w by 50ft L). OH MY-LANTA!! You're getting a workout for sure!! And be sure you use your legs and not your back.
Sarah - I've wondered the same thing. I had a tooth extracted, and the implant place. Only it didn't go well, so we had to pull it out and wait 4 months to redo it. It's been great since. I have friends that have done the whole mouth one as well and they went in and had a full day with the dr and came out with the new pearlys. I don't understand either. I had to wait for the extracted tooth area to fully heal. I still need an implant at the upper but I'm afraid just because that is needle to the roof of the mouth and I'm unsure any amount of valium will prepare me properly. ugh. Nor my wallet. haha
Sheesh - I'm glad everyone is getting through their Covid and you and hubby were spared. I'll be getting a booster soon...
Ok. back to work.

I just came on to read your updates. Sarah, glad you're keeping that hilly route an option for your walking. Hills really make a big difference, so good work. And it sounds like you'll be getting your implant soon. Sorry, but I don't think I'd go to Costa Rica even if it is faster, lol.
Our weather here was hot, hot (100 F) yesterday windy and dusty, and then suddenly today raining and highs in the 60's. It's all over the place. I'm glad it's raining today because my allergies were bad yesterday with that wind. And, we need the water desperately. Then, we see that Yellowstone is closed today because the heavy rains have washed out roads and parts of houses. Of course, that's where we are going with some of our kids in July. Ugh.
Lois, I hope you like the virtual workout program. . good idea to get the pass. With 110 F temps an indoor workout is a must!
Be back Wed for weigh-in.0
