Well, having had a bar-b-que with family here on Father's Day, that is better than I expected. The baby and step-granddaughter were here, and zooming with the rest of the Fam was fun. Now, we're getting ready to go to Jackson Lake, and all the plans have changed . . no Yellowstone due to roads getting washed out with flooding:( . Two of the families will be camping with a trailer and Sprinter van (our son is flying in and will rent here) and daughter with newest grand baby and her family will be in a cabin, as well as hubby and me. The cabins at Colter Bay are really close to the campsites, so we'll cook most nights in the campsites and maybe one night at the restaurant. Son is flying in with his boys to be here for the 4th of July (his wife and daughter flying in later because of girl scout camp). Sarah, we got tickets to go to the baseball game here on the 4th . . they have a great fireworks show after the game. And, I know what you mean about ball game food. And BEER! I can't believe you had water at the baseball game, lol. You are so disciplined! I plan to have the hot dogs and beer. If I gain . . . oh well.

I've been more strict with logging food and being in deficit. We have so many plans coming up that I realized I'll have too much work ahead of me if I'm not focused on the days that I am able to do well.

Kelly, thanks for asking about my foot. It's back to normal for the most part now, but every now and then I get a twinge which concerns me. It's at strange moments, like when I am twisting and pushing off with my right foot . . like when in the follow through on my golf swing. I need to get new, stiffer sole golf shoes. I still modify some exercise moves. My trainer knows I can't do deep lunges, etc. It's getting better though.

Lois, I'm sorry your back is still hurting. Maybe more Oculus activity might strengthen it? My trainer sees a chiropractor pretty regularly for her back. She had twins and then another baby less than 2 years later, which she is still dealing with her back from.

Sarah, the ball game sounds so fun . . glad that the Nats won! I think adjusting your goals is a good idea. We're getting older, and we have to be flexible on what and how we do everything. I know you don't look forward to the trip to see your sister, but I'm sure it means a lot to her. I was thinking about your post when I called my sister today. She was back from a driving trip to Cali, and her knee is much better. We're trying to plan a day to go to lunch, but it looks like it will have to wait until after July 11 between our two lives with plans for summer. We leave July 6 and will be camping until July 10. Do you have plans for your Birthday on July 9? ;)

    So essentially, I'm still in the same old ballpark, but if any more days are like today, I'll be in a new and not so good ballpark. :s For some reason, I just had cravings for sweets today!

    And mentioning today, I'm sorry to be so late logging. It was a very busy day for us. We hit Costco when it opened to get some OTC meds we needed and then ran to appointments in the Bethesda/Chevy Chase area. So that meant battling beltway traffic. Since I wasn't able to meet my buddy to walk today, I did my hilly outside walk once all the thunderstorms passed through. But that was after 7 p.m., and then there was dinner and dishes and we tuned in for part of the ballgame. The good news is that I'm finally doing some things I should have done 20 years ago (thus the appointments), but unfortunately, my just working long, long days and letting stuff go has cost me big time. But you can't shoulda, so I have to let it go.

    And letting go includes letting go of what I did and didn't do today intake wise. I just have to commit to be more mindful tomorrow and get back on track with my intake and hopefully get in a little extra activity, too. Before I move on, here's my 7-day averages for this past week:

    Steps = 11,975
    Kcals burned = 1,713 (I have stopped obessing over reaching 1,800--but I didn't want to slip this far!)
    Stairs = 15 flights

    Sheesh, I'm also glad to hear that your foot has healed well, and I'm so sorry that you have had to cancel the Yellowstone reservations, although the alternate ones sound like a lot of fun. :) We used to go camping every year with 7 other couples, but eventually some left the area and others felt that camping was getting a little rough as they aged. So we recently gave away our tent (huge one), sleeping bags, camp stoves, etc., and I hope that a young family is now enjoying them. I loved it when I was doing it, although I think a cabin is more my speed today. But it sounds like you will still get the fun of outdoor cooking, sitting under the stars, etc. And you really do have such beautiful outdoor spaces out west.

    Lois, I hope your back pain resolves and I also hope that some of the stress you've had to deal with is easing a bit.

    Will try to circle back tomorrow. Midnight is creeping up on me and my brain is turning to mush! Thinking of you all and sending you good thoughts tonight. :)

    Wow. Is it really Thursday? Monday and Tuesday dragged on forever and then yesterday whooshed by as did today. It's been crazy. So crazy that at the end of the day, I do not have the energy to do the oculus thingy. I put it on one day and was just so tired that I took it off in five minutes. Work is crazy busy. The interest rates are getting everyone over here a bit on edge. Sales have slowed, but that's also normal for us in June-September. I'm feeling the higher interest rate in our new car. I searched a loan through BofA as my car was due by end of month and the rate is a full 1% higher than it was in March. SUCKS. We got the text today that my new car arrived at the dealership this morning. We will get it tomorrow after I get off work. I have the detailers coming to give the two trade ins a good cleaning in the morning. The new one wasn't supposed to be here for another week. I thought I was getting it done early. eeek. Anyway, it's giving us something to be excited about.

    Last weekend I ordered some ready made foods from Costco. Flautas and this lemongrass chicken. We had the flautas for two lunches and the lemongrass chicken with rice and edamame two nights. It saved us quite a bit versus ordering from Door Dash. I do recommend both and I'm going to order them again. They also have a coconut mango curry that I'm going to give a try as well. They're easy to make at the end of the day. The sodium is horrible on these but it has me eating chicken versus beef so I'm game. I drink a ton of water as well.

    Sheesh your camping trip sounds like so much fun. In just a few weeks, I'll be taking off for San Diego with my Rhea and her parents. I understand the fun times with the grandkids. I have a friend who has a cabin and have thought about renting one and taking the family out to get a way. That may be something we do next springish. This last half of the year has a lot of stuff planned. So glad your foot is doing better.

    Sarah - I hate going into Costco. It's less than 3 miles from us but it's so crowded and chaotic. haha. I've been paying the $10 plus tip to have someone else battle it. Though last week's shopper sucked on the veggies. They were bad to begin with and he picked them. UGH. Anyway, I give you kudos on venturing into crazy areas and traffic.

    Kelly hoping all is well with you.

    Well, it's June and the dust storms are just now kicking up something fierce. It was blue skies a bit ago and now the wind is whipping everywhere. Hubby's calling me to go and check stuff since he can't. Later

    OK. So a storm blew in...and a couple of hours was gone to a drizzle. But it kept us busy for a little bit.

    Have I shared with you mine and hubby's trip to Yellowstone about 30 years ago? It's a funny one. Anyhow, my little brother was going to school in Rexburg, ID (BYU Rexburg). Anyhow, hubby and I flew up and stayed with him and his house full of boy roommates. He went to class and hubby and I drove to Grand Targhee to ski. When my brother didn't have class, we took him up with us and put him in ski lessons (that's where he learned to ski). Anyhow, while we were there, one of his roommates said we should go snowmobiling in Yellowstone. Sounded like fun, so we piled into a few cars and drove over. I rented 4 snow mobiles for the 7 of us (unbeknownst to hubby and I - the others did not have funds to contribute - HA). So it was our treat, unpreparedly. Anyhow, we were on the trail to head to old faithful when the road was blocked by a herd of bison. YEP and a whole freakin' bunch of them. So we all stopped at a distance and admired them. Beautiful, scary, gorgeous and WOW! Remember the huge camcorders back in the early 90's? Yeah? well, we had one with us, so hubby had me turn around on the snowmobile and video them as we prepared to drive away. Then the herd began to walk towards us and take an interest. Anyhow, the others had taken off and hubby proceeded to pretend that our snowmobile wouldn't start. I'm swearing up the world as I'm videoing this herd walking TOWARDS us and we're not moving! I had a 2 year old and 8 year old at home and was praying like a crazy person that I'd see them again. Then as the herd got way too close for comfort, hubby started the machine and we took off. I wanted to kill him when he told me he was pretending with the machine not starting. My brother and his friends thought he was crazy. But it was a gorgeous trip. No we didn't make it to old faithful, but the snow covered park was stunning. We pulled off in an area and had a lunch, built a snowman and had a snowball fight. We had a great time. but all these years later, it's a story all three of us remember and laugh every time we share it.

    Gosh as I shared the story above, it really reminds me of how active hubby and I are NOT anymore. And we really need to be. We're only 58 this year. We still have a long life and we need to be healthier!

    Hi All,

    Sorry that I'm still posting randomly and not often. Life I tell ya!
    Work is busier than normal so it doesn't allow me much time to post. I don't like posting from my phone or tablet and I'm only on my computer during the day when I work.

    Our son is finishing off Grade 9 and had his farewell ceremony today, as he'll be heading to the high school next year. He made the honor roll, which is amazing for him. So proud of him. His team is also in the finals for Ball Hockey tomorrow night, although they aren't expected to win since they're playing an undefeated team, we're still super proud. My husband is the head coach too. 2 more days of Grade 7 for our daughter too and soccer has a couple more games, then will be on pause for the Summer, with playoffs in the Fall.

    This week is an off week for us all around. I had to work today, since Friday is a holiday here. (I don't normally work Mondays). Shawn has to work Wednesday and Thursday as well this week. (He normally only works Sunday - Tuesday) And the kids are heading to their Mom's on Thursday this week as they are going camping. (They don't normally go there until Saturday nights) Weird week. The whole summer is going to be weird for us and the kids, as we are switching from our normal schedule with their Mom, in order to maximize their fun.

    Next week will be a busy one too. Friday we're having a party at our house for my husband's 50th birthday, which is actually on the 11th. And then on Sunday we head to that cabin that we rent every year for a week. I'm slightly overwhelmed with how everything is going to get done. Clean the house, make the food, make sure we have enough drinks and then pack for the cabin, all while working. I guess that's what our evenings will consist of.

    Lois - I'd love to get an Oculus, but the $ just isn't there right now for it. Maybe some day I'll join you!

    Sheesh - Great to hear your foot is mostly better! Unfortunately that twinge will likely be there forever. I'm sure you'll figure out how to manage that or what steps or turns cause it. Sorry to hear about Yellowstone. That weather they had was pretty crazy. I'm sure it'll take them a long time to recover and rebuild.

    Sarah - Keep it up girl! Don't get too down on yourself because of the numbers. You are doing amazing just maintaining!
