Why am I so into food and eating?
The two people I’ve met who I would count as “naturally thin” had something in common- they weren’t interested in food. In fact my one friend regarded eating as a significant nuisance. Getting food, preparing food, eating it, cleaning up- it took a lot of time and energy. And for what? So we can do it again in 6 hrs.
That sure isn’t me. I think I’ve succeeded at this mostly because I just rerouted the effort I put into food to counting food calories. The overall effort isn’t any more or any less, It has just become sort of specialized.1 -
One of the mysteries is how hunger works. Our bodies are so complicated with input from stomach, brain, nervous system, kidneys, and more that affect our drive us to eat, or not eat, or eat too much. How does this work? Who knows? A fascinating area regarding appetite is the interaction between the hunger hormones ghrelin and leptin.1

2nd both @88olds and @Flintwinch comments. Plus:
My mind or mindset. What the H*** goes on in my head is a mystery to me. I can be full and keep on eating like a dang fool. I can eat even if I'm not hungry. I can eat sweets or appetizers like nobody's business. I can eat second or extra portions when I don't need them. What in the h*** is going on with all that? I've worked with a psychotherapist for 3 years every 2 weeks and it's still a mystery.
However when I get a mindset that I'm going to do it get on the right program like I'm on now then progress starts to happen and does happen. Not pretending to figure it all out but once again on my way for the humptinct time.
