Power came on here about 2 hrs ago. House took in about 1-2” of water. Enough to make a big mess. Both cars total loss. The garage is about 3’ lower than the house. House stood up well to the wind. The right side of the Ian eye wall pretty much landed right on us. More on this later.

Glad you made it through it.0

Glad you’re physically okay - and I’m thinking about how much tougher this would be if you were seventy or so pounds heavier.1

Continue to take care of yourself physically and emotionally. The house can be repaired one project at a time, one day at a time. I'm sorry you are experiencing this unsolicited challenge. You will come out stronger on the other side.0

Best of luck in your recovery. Getting power back on is a huge step forward.0

Moving ahead. Power is back on. A/C and hot water on. Settled the claims on the cars and yesterday made a 2 hr drive to buy 1 replacement. Internet working but not cable. Go figure.
At some point someone will come in, rip out about the lowest 24” of drywall and replace it. That’s the remedy for 1-2 “ of water. All the lower cabinets go too I guess. This was my experience with the storm.
Then yesterday I had to go an older part of town to deal with GEICO. It was heartbreaking. A lot of people lost
everything.
And I can’t think of a single thing I’ve done since the day I started WL, Dec 25,1994 btw, when I thought this would be better if I was heavier.1
