I'm new to this group but not to emotional overeating. I've been doing it all my life. I am a compulstive overeater. It doesn't matter what the food is, I just eat too much. Sometimes it's due to triggers, but really I live in an ongoing stressful situation that I'm working on dealing with in a healthier way.
I can lose weight with dieting, but due to this addiction, this default way I have of dealing with unpleasant realities, it comes right back.
For me, the 12 steps are an effective way to find the way out to a more serene and manageable life.
How about you?

Hi there, can you elaborate more on these 12 steps you speak of? I myself have been able to identify triggers and replace the action with another, that’s my go to method for stopping my emotional/binge eating. It’s still a choice whether I apply my methods or not but most of the time I choose health over the emotion. I like to see the results far enough ahead of time, visualize where I’m going on my health journey, that also helps keep me focused. Can’t forget WHY I’m doing all this.. welcome to the group, it’s a bit quiet at times but we can support each other non the less..0
